Fix the Harbor Freight hydraulic cart due to poorly adjusted control valve.

Комедия

The Harbor Freight hydraulic table cart that I bought had a poorly adjusted the hydraulic valve. It was in partial open position. So when I push the hydraulic pedal, the table did not elevate at all. I did bleed it twice as the instruction booklet says. This video will show you the problem and how to fix it. Not a real time video, but will bring the root problem to you.

After driving to 4 different stores (yes I checked to see that they had them before going) and having them sold before I get to the stores, I was finally able to get the 1000 lb. That I wanted with the 25% coupon. Got it out of my truck and put together. And Nothing! It didn't work. Thought it didn't have any fluid. Watched your video and got it working. Thanks for the info. I have this table for a week. I filled it up with fluid, but it won't pump up the table. So I did what you suggested. Disconnected the cable. Then pumped the table up it came up. Then I had to adjust the cable twice then work on the screw stop on the lever. It works a whole lots better. Thank you.

Thanks for this! The cart was originally bought so I could install a new water heater on my own. It has become more than that as I had the idea to use it to lift my elderly mother who fell and couldn't get off the floor. Like anyone I was about to call 911 but she said she was fine, didn't think anything was broken and threatened to disown me if I called for wasting money. I knew I couldn't just pick her up without injuring her (She's a fairly heavy gal with osteo problems). So this tool popped into my head but I had issues with it and knew it was broken. Came across your video and was able to get it working in 10 minutes. We basically got her up to her feet after making a ramp of books and pillows so she could sit on the table. I'm now trying to come up with a much easier way for her to get off the floor, maybe a chair attachment of some kind for the table. I looked at those medical patient lifts but they cost 3 to 4k. Thanks again man!

Glad my video helped you and your dear mother. If you can find a used Hoyer lift which is for patient transfer from chair to bed etc, that will be the safe way to go. Make sure the slings come with the Hoyer lift. I bought a used one for my mother-in-law for $100. Hope that you come up some ideas to modify the table. If it is me, I would put 4 bigger wheels so the cart can move easily. Of course to prevent fall is the most important way to go. Take care.

I just bought the 1,000 lift and had the same problem. It would not lift since the control cable was too tight and holding the release valve open. After reviewing your video, I tipped the thing over to get to the adjustment cable and did this twice to get it properly adjusted. Mine came with a screw with o ring in the fill hole rather than a rubber plug. I did add fluid to mine with a large dropper tube since it is very difficult to get to. Now it works fine and I love the thing. Thanks for your video. Mine also had a bright yellow tag attached identifying the adjustment, so this is known issues with these.

Hi. Thanks for the video. As I watched I think there is an actual cable adjustment right at the end of the black cable housing. A long nut onto a threaded piece (within which is the actual cable). So just like a bike brake lever, you would adjust the tension here, NOT on the 9/16 nuts as shown. They just serve to lock the cable to the valve. Hope this helps! I appreciate the detective work to get to the problem! Top shelf!

Another issue can be that the valve piston does not protude far enough out, even when the stop screw in adjusted out. Pull piston out slightly with pliers and oil it then try to pump up. if it's okay, then screw in stop screw until it touches piston and tighten nut.

Just purchased one of these, and the adjustments I had to make are exactly as described. Pumping the hydraulic pedal did nothing out of the box. The cable adjustment is not the easiest thing to get to (I have the 1000 lb model), but it wasn't that difficult to lay it on its side. I put down a blanket to keep scratching to a minimum. Did not have to bleed the hydraulic. Works great now. erguy6319, thank you for this video. Saved me from returning it to Harbor Freight.

I just bought one of these and found that valve (it’s actually the release valve) leaking badly. Since exchanging it would be a lot of work, I took that valve apart and found that there are three seals. Two of mine were defective and the third needed some careful filing to fit right. Kind of to be expected with Harbor Freight.
