Fixed1t for president ! My washer was clean and in good shape, but had air bubbles on it (imagine a pimple), one on each sides. Probably just manufacturing default. For now I've punctured those bubbles with a needle, and the constant trimmer in the bowl stopped immediately. Thank you for your invaluable work.

Dude - Excellent video. I washed the silicone washer with mild soap and warm water. Worked like you said. My tower required twisting 90 degrees instead of the snaps you have and I also cleaned the plastic seat the silicone washer seats on. Thanks mate, just needed the intro. Pulled whole cistern off to work out how the flusher comes out without removing the cistern from the toilet. Had a broken part but I glued it back on and all good now

It worked! My toilet has been dribbling for ages and randomly flushing. My water bill is huge. I tried doing this last year but didn't have the confidence/knowledge to remove the centre bit. It's a twist mechanism. But I've done it and I think it's stopped! Thank you. Now on to the other toilet to try and replace the diaphragm...

Thank you for posting that. My leak was so slight it was barely noticeable, however, I take a photo of my water meter on the same day of every month. This particular month my usage had gone up from the usual 10 cu metres/month so I checked again the following month and the same problem. Finally traced it to this WC!

Great video! I was about to go and try to buy a complete replacement. I didn't have build up of scale, but big water-filled blisters on the Aquasource washer!! I popped them and now no leaks. I am going to try to find replacements. Cheers to you for putting this out there!

My stylus cistern is 12 years old and i cannot find a way of realising the part to put in a new washer i have tried turning it and trying to find clips but no joy

Thanks so much, I fixed my toilet using your video. I needed a new washer just like in the video. I took the old one with me to the hardware store and replaced it. Only needed a screw driver. I think I'll replace the whole unit though as our buttons are a bit mounted as well from me previously gluing them back together when the little bits holding the straw-like tubes broke away.

I did this and water is still running? I also cleaned the rubber stopper (where the black cap on tye left is) but water keeps running and then refills again. Hopefully someone can give me another suggestion

I was looking for a system the same as ours and this was it! I was able to turn the washer over as there was no writing on either side, after cleaning it and cleaning the seating beneath it - problem solved, and no need for the plumber to come and fix it. Thank you!

Good short term fix, I did that first time as a quick stop emergency measure but it only last a few weeks and it began running again, the thing is I couldn't hear it running i just noticed how much water I was losing down the back of the toilet. Thank you very much for the video, it gave me the confidence to attack the problem myself. However, all systems are slightly different and for me the releasing action of the main mechanism required a twisting action, from them all steps the same, except there was a plastic circular piece directly beneath the item of contention that had come away, so it wasn't a limescale issue for me. However, a one minute job and that meant I didn't have to bother my landlord. Great!

Thank you, my issue was that rubber seal. Some small water 'blisters' developed, and as another video had suggested taking a pin and carefully pricking them, then squeezing out any water made the seal functional again. Probably a good idea to order another new seal for the future anyhow in case it delaminates further.

Great video - there's an eariler version of the ToTo that uses a twist lock to hold the center valve to the base. Disconnect the thin rubber water line from top left (green) side, then twist the entire center section counter clockwise ~90 degrees. It will find a narrow section of the cylinder and then be free to lift off. I mention this because it looks like they might be clips on the side, like you describe, but if you try to pry them off, you can damage the clips on the base--an expensive and more difficult part to replace! I noticed the narrow section on mine, tried the twist-unlock method, et voila!

Thank you for the video and for everyone's comments here! I had tried cleaning the washer with no luck. Had a closer look this morning and found some air bubbles. As suggested I pricked these and replaced (with writing facing up!) and now seems to be watertight again.

Ah thank you. I didn’t see the clips on the bottom. After a mini investigation, the rubber seal had little bubbles of rubber that had inflated causing the seal to not fully close and water to pass through the gaps into the bowl. Thank you!

Thank you .I have no idea of fixing these kinda things but I watched your video and fixed my leaking toilet. The rubber valve had couple of bubbles and I burst it with needle and working perfectly fine and stop leaking. Many thanks for helping.

Thanks! I was just about to order a new flush valve. On mine the rubber washer was absolutely fine and the culprit was actually some of the leftover plastic skin you get on certain toilet blocks. I’ll not use those anymore!

This excellent! The model (AquaSource) I have entire column wouldn’t come out , I was able to adjust the turquoise tab on the right side and once the water rose to the float- Eureka! It stopped running!

The tip about replacing the flush valve washer with the writing side up away from the bottom, is key to getting this procedure to work.

On mine I had an additional problem with the button/cable mechanism - I took it apart and saw the cable had corroded a little which was making it catch and stopping it from returning properly. A quick rub down and some silicone lubricant fixed it. Thanks!

These videos are great, with this issue does your flush buttons not click back up into place? That’s what mine is doing which stops the tank filling properly? I may try this tomorrow and see if it helps.

If that was mine and it had a sticking mechanism, iI'd be tipping a bottle of cheap vinegar in the tank and leave it overnight to get rid of the scale. Let me know if it works. Regards Malcolm aka fixed1t

Thanks. I know the problem is the ruber washer. A couple time I wash and clean it, work well, but then the issue occur again. Then I buy the new flusher kit and it work well untill now. It cost about USD 10,- for the whole kit here in my country, includes valve unit, filling unit, all the nuts and screw, the top pusher button, and ruber sealer.

Yep the kits are too expensive, but the cheaper the more likely they are to fail in my experience. I had the problem during a holiday weekend so no stores to pop out to just lots of running water. So I fixed1t ;-)

Excellent demonstration on how to repair this type of toilet valve. this type came with my new home and I was afraid of it at first. Not now. I know I can repair this when the time comes thanks to you. This style looks like a big improvement over the flapper valve type. Saves water too!

Thank you so much for this excellent video. My leak isn't as bad but it is still 'topping-up' every ten minutes or so. Can you get replacement washers/seals for these units? I think mine is a FlushKing but then I imagine the seals are all very much alike. Again thank you!

Robert Thanks I'm so glad it helped, especially as I seem to have picked up a self praising "highly intelligent" (his words) young TROLL that can allegedly speak 5 languages and use a soldering iron which makes him very clever or so he says. Thanks. I didn't even know that thing could come off. Mine needed to be unscrewed and the problem turned out to be the plunger thing that blocks the water - it refused to go back down after flashing.
