This is so on point. I’m farsighted and wear contacts to drive. However, I’ve always removed them once home b/c I cannot see up close with them on, and watching tv would give me a headache. So I concluded wearing glasses or contacts 24/7 cannot be good for eye muscles-they’d weaken-just like other body parts-atrophy! I always believed removing contacts helped my eye muscles-and it has! My eye doc wanted to give me reading glasses!!! Docs just pile on like with meds. Now, years later, he can’t believe my vision didn’t get worse years ago since most people just keep adding visual aids instead of working eye muscles and their vision continues to worsen over time. Eye docs are conditioned to maintain a problem. They’re in a business! Like a med doc that ignores nutrition, docs don’t cure-there’s no money in that. Imho.

That’s a great tip for helping with astigmatism. I just tried it and I noticed that my eyes were getting that stinging sensation and tearing up because I was noticing movement in my peripheral as I was rotating my head. I’ve been getting a lot of stinging and tearing up lately due to noticing movement of objects when going for walks. Sometimes it happens without me even really doing anything or thinking about it, so maybe it’s becoming a mental habit. I have high myopia (around -6), and a small amount of astigmatism, so I’ll continue to do this head-rotating to hopefully improve both my myopia and astigmatism. Thanks for this tip and all the others you’ve given!

I tend to do the same thing you mentioned with the violin 24/7 and no one ever told me this must be the case my astigmatism got this bad by 3 years, I also read a lot because of my studies and this bad posture and constant eye movement stressed my eye so much. Very good video on a tricky subject Mark. The functional aspect of astigmatism is not well known at all. But the eyeball is a soft sack full of liquid so the tiniest additional muscle pull can distort the shape. The other aspect is that of lens-induced astigmatism from wearing minus lenses. The eyeball will lengthen over time and distort in shape due to the glasses forcing you to ignore the periphery

I learned much about the eyes from my own personal experience and by doing research. I am not a medical professional. However, my journey has led me to take many classes and courses on many things concerning the mind and body. From my own experience, I learned that eye problems typically have little to do with the eyes. Tension is usually brought on by many external factors and this is the reason so many people have issues. The good news is that it can be corrected with time and patience.

It works, but to use a Tibetan wheel, you have to be in front of you. Why not learn to use everything around you as a Tibetan wheel? Then you won't have to worry about only using it in one place. Instead of only using devices and charts only when they are available, I learned how to use everything around me as a device or chart.

For example, if I move the eyes faster? or if I make maximally long movements up and down instead of only moving a small distance up and down, will it result in fewer motion cycles required to correct the eyes?

After applying those 3 tips from the video, the raising of the monitors to eye level, rotate whole head in the direction of focus rather that just the eyes, and having a straight back, I noticed a slight but immediate relief to the discomfort of the eyes, so thank you for that. • @nevin8604

I'm not sure if the mechanism he said is correct, because the more tensioned the muscle is in a direction the more severe the astigmatism is in the same direction. So horizontal muscles' tension would produce against the rule astigmatism, unlike what he said. Also using eye muscles to move dont tension them, it gets tension only if you use the same position for a long period of time.

Sorry to hear about this. While I haven't come across anyone with your experience, I do believe it's possible to heal the body if you allow it to do so. I've learned that muscles and tension can change the shape of your eyes. If you learn to relax that tension, then you can reshape the eyes back to where they should be. Think of people who are quad dominant, or have tight hamstrings. They can fix that be strengthening opposite muscle groups and stretching. It starts with reprogramming the brain and then reteaching the body. The eyes are no different but nobody really teaches us that.
