I installed a set of Gristle Master pickups in my Tele and I have never found any Tele that sounds like it yet, and I have 7 Telecasters. Absolutely 💯 % will buy more sets of them for my other one's and a couple sets for my Strats, I would also like to try the Lester pickup set also. I like that they are affordable and sound kickass. Thank you Greg for helping design them 🙏 👍 ❤️

I just got my new TE52 Harley Benton and I have been saving my new Greg Koch Fishman Pickup Set for this (had it on an American Tele and LOVED it!). Gotta try this. It cost me twice as much for the Gristle Tones than the guitar. Can't wait!!! I AM getting Greg's Signature Amp by mid Summer).

Fantastic pickups....every single one.... I have yet to see people combine sets though. i have a modern in the bridge and a classic in the neck and they blend so damn well. Ive never heard a guitar with such incredible cleans but still with the ability to bust out some just straight up disgusting heavy tones.

It's funny because players get so angry about the idea if wood and the type of construction overall can affect a guitar's tone, but obviously there is SOME influence on how it sounds aside for the pickups and the amp you play. You can have the EXACT same Telecaster or Stratocaster model, year, pickups output and wood and there will be slight differences. Perhaps not the defining reason, but there is something there. I'd wager more on my pickups and amp choice, no two guitars really sound exact, even if they are the exact model.

The price isn't that bad when you consider that they come with a completely configured control panel that's comprised of high end parts. No cheap chinese stuff involved/

If you have reverse polarity on one of the pickups, and you have both pickups turned on, it's almost the same as having a humbucker with the coils very widely spaced --- [ * a humbucker is a twin coil pickup, one of them being reverse wound ].

Humbuckers are in series, polarity doesn't change the sound like that.

" [ * a humbucker is a twin coil pickup, one of them being REVERSE Wound ]. " So, are you saying that when you select the single-coil bridge & single-coil neck pickups (on a normal guitar) - they are in parallel? (or series?) As far as I remember (I may be wrong), when you reverse the polarity on one of two coils that are wound in the SAME direction they then have opposite magnetic fields. Please explain how opposite polarity changes the sound -- in clear and precise language.

Thanks Thomann for sharing these great videos, Greg is a fantastic guitarist, he sure can make any guitar sound great. Only my opinion: this pickups suck big time, all the warmth, soul, character and tone is gone... this kind of active electronics give a HI-FI sound that we want to avoid when it comes to tone and musicality, but sure you can make it still sound great if you are a great musician, simple as that, and on top of that, way too expensive, with the same money you go and get for example a RON ELLIS SET and this video will sound like a joke !!!

TheCollisionofworlds well you're a sophisticated boy, eh? I actually am not crazy about the sound of those pickups either. This is the deal with them, which you can see Greg knows fully well: As long as you're not playing them back to back with the real thing, they'll work just fine. When put back to back with a good Tele, the weakness or lack of fidelity to the old ones shows thru.

Considering the 200+ variants that may or many not have an effect on the tone a guitar produces...It's effectively impossible to tell if these pickups have that sound or not. Also, go take 10 Ron Ellis sets of pickups and measure their resistance. I guarantee you that you'll get difference resistance values on each set. Since their resistance values are different, they'll all sound different, so you can't even pinpoint how the pickup is supposed to sound like apart from what the manufacturer tells you in the marketing material.

I personally would NOT want a Telly sounding guitar = it's not my thing! but I am Fascinated by the Upgrade in Technology = Finally after 80yrs of the SAMEOL'BS we get something NEW = now if we could just get guitar companies to STOP doing the SAMEOL'BS with the guitar body's 1953 is DEAD - it's 2019 Please reincarnate Burney Rico'
