FISHING SHIRTS
www.gregblanchardfishing.com/
First 3 of my favorite? fishing fights. Hey, when you've got some serious cash on the line, things can get pretty heated when trying to catch little green fish.
Video credit to: Bassmaster and FLW for original footage.
"Fight" 1: Kevin VanDam Vs. Mike Iaconelli. Argument during one of the Elite series events of 2015 about fishing space/location.
"Fight" 2: Anthony Gagliardi Vs. Local Fisherman: Poor AG here gets harassed by someone who appears to have some issues.
"Fight" 3: Scott Martin Vs. Drew Benton: Another argument about fishing space/location rights.

I’ve been an avid fisherman since I was 3 and it’s always been my first love. I love to fish and I’m very good at it in so many forms. There’s absolutely nothing about tournament fishing that appeals to me. I see it as a complete perversion of my favorite sport. Watching this video only reinforces my beliefs.

Agree 100% Can't believe the entitlement and egos of these guys. I've had 'em in practice move right on top of me when I'm just out there sitting on a bluegill bed, and that 3,4,5 days before an upcoming tournament. Come back in an hour, I'll be gone. 110,000 acres of water and you crowd on top of me. And that's small regional qualifying tournaments, we're not even talking about B.A.S.S. big leagues. No regard for anyone else but then get their panties in a wad if anyone gets close to "their" water. Act like you're jumping their gold claim.

Not really...Scotts point was that he was in position to win and he had been fishing that stretch of docks while benton fished the other side and fished trees.... then on the final day benton abandobed his trees and started where he saw Scott catching fish on the docks....I get Scott's point here. Time has also told us that Drew benton is no slouch and he wouldn't/ doesn't need to spot rob...prob one of those situations where both guys found a productive area in practice and ended up fishing next to eachother.

@@RockMonger Seen a few videos with some, that behaved so bad, you could easily expect them of trying to avoid the dude catching anything - in a salmon/sea trout case, it could be, so they can text "their buddies" where the good fish are today, so they can go fish for them. And "helping with the landing" - only had help with my first, because the "friend" who's only job was to bring the net didn't because "You never catch anything anyway". Accepting help only reduces your chances of learning how to cope with the landing, and the day you hook the big one, you won't have as good chances of succes - besides the nice feelin of having tied the fly, found the fish, hooked and landed (and released) it 100% by your own.! I will rather loose my record fish than accept help - if we're talking salmon/sea trout from land.

That can be the problem with tournaments. There is a lot of pressure especially when you factor in money. I fish for fun and recreation and occasionally to eat some really good fish. I really do think making it a competition would ruin it for me. Funny story: My father was in (either a Bass Pro or a Cabela's), he's not a social man and certainly not a people person...he walks in and heads to the KVD lures and in-front of the isle is a group of people listening to some guy talk. Annoyed and obviously thinking these guys should take their conversation elsewhere...pushed his way through so he can get what he needed and leave. He wasn't really paying attention to who these people were. So, my father literally pushed past Kevin Vandam to get to the KVD lures. It was only after he realized it.

There's about half of em that think that way. A friend invited me to fish a tourney with him. I never had done a tourney before. I agreed; by 8 am I had 5 bass + the big one at over 6 pounds in a place i"d never even seen before. When we left the ramp, my buddy was just Idling down the weedy bank and I saw fish chasing minners. I said whoa, turn around - active fish, just a 1/4 mile from the ramp. We got 7 fish on Spinnerbaits and by 8:30 it was over....tourney won. HIS buddies accused me of cheating-typical babies. if they had OPENED their eyes instead of trying to win a boat race to a distant 'community' spot, perhaps they would have caught more than we did. Fools never learned the basic lesson - fish feed hard early and late - miss it , and you've possibly missed it for the day. I never blow that first hour running somewhere if I can help it. MANY fish are always near ANY ramp. ITS WHERE THEY RELEASED LAST WEEK'S TOURNEY FISH. Jergoffs!

Dealt with "charter boats" who think they OWN the water (locations on GPS); we always responded with our Wrist-Rocket slingshots on anyone on board the charter boat that cast at OUR boat. The captain usually is then radioed and told the next round will be on the wheel house (steel ball bearings). They LEAVE in a big hurry, since we notified USCG.

I always give people their space when i'm fishing. In fact a lot of people ask me if they can fish here and i say "help yourself man!" It Usually starts a lot of really nice conversations and gives me a chance to learn some things or just shoot the shit with other anglers. Met a lot of really cool people that way. Granted they aren't literally next to me but we can hold a conversation between us being 20 feet apart on the shore line. But I guess that's what happens when you get paid to do something... Idk if i could ever fish for a career. I enjoy it as a down time. This looks like they are just money hungry and not even enjoying the sport as a past time but are rather in it to win it... Such a shame... I love going to the lake and meeting new anglers and learning new things. This is just cry babies fighting over who got where first... Pitiful

Then he goes on about how a couple competitors don t work and have plenty of time to practice and how they found his honeyholes and brushpiles he guards like his bank pin. They catch " his " bass while he works and releases them on their spots ( I m not kidding). I respect his commitment and determination but I don t understand taking a past time I do to relax and unwind to spike his blood pressure because he needs 2 more pounds while popping his eyes outa socket looking for anyone that might get close enough to mark his spots or see what type or color lure he uses. Fishing tournaments started out as fun community events and now look at these spoiled brats. $70,000 boats, $300 rod, $300 reel, $40 line, about $2000 to $5000 in tackle, $500 outfits, and around $5000 in electronics to catch a $6 bass that my Dad catches stumping on a cane pole that he made himself, with about $20 in line hooks and crawfish for bait.
