NAKED GUN MOVIE REACTION: 0:00 - 32:24
NAKED GUN MOVIE REVIEW: 32:25 - 34:30
The Naked Gun Movie Description:
Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), a rather clueless police detective, tries to foil a plot to turn innocent people into assassins through mind control. After his partner, Norberg (O.J. Simpson), is shot, Frank sets out to find the culprit, leading him to business tycoon Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalban). However, Frank has no evidence until he meets Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley), Ludwig's assistant. She knows nothing about Ludwig's devious plans, but falls for Frank and agrees to help him.

Leslie Nielsen was so good at playing deadly serious, "don't mess with me" characters that he guest starred a lot as cold, calculating villains in TV crime dramas. After 'Airplane,' it was like "Yeah, this is funny because it's so unexpected from 'Mister Serious'," but after a string of hilarious comedies, people realized that he was legitimately funny as hell.

@@HelloMellowXVI Urban legend has it that the guy in charge of the network didn't like the show as they had to, according to legend, "think too much" while watching it. This has since been clarified as meaning the viewer had to follow the episode from start to finish, which flew against the network's belief that people were constantly changing channels, meaning they would never get into the show. That bit with the Japanese Garden though...pure gold.
O.J. Simpson playing the role of Nordberg in his scene kicking in the door of the boat is pure comedy gold.

Great reaction, I love watching younger people react to great memories of mine!! I was 11 in 1988 when this movie came out. My Dad took me to the theater to see it..... we both laughed so hard throughout the whole thing our insides hurt after! The entire theater was dying too, I have never before or since seen an entire packed theater laugh out loud so hard and so loud and for pretty much an entire movie like they did for the Naked Gun. At the end everyone got up and cheered and clapped! This was a movie made on the cheap, not given much of a chance, and turned into a block buster and an all time classic. Thanks!!

I actually saw this in the theatre in 88, the opening scene killed me as well. I was also a fan of "Tales from Police Squad" which was a short lived tv series in the early 80s from which this movie is derived from, also with the same cast, they cancelled it after 5 episodes because they didnt think people understood the humor.
@jupiterjones3789
Жыл бұрын
Minor corrections: Cancelled it after 4 episodes aired, 6 were made And they had to realize that that kind of humor back then belonged on the big screen, people didn't watch TV with attention but while doing other stuff
There is so much going on at 3:32 that no one, including me for almost four decades, didn't notice the luggage being dropped from the plane onto the tarmac when Frank Drebin comes down the stairs.
What made Leslie Nielsen such a legend was the fact that he was a serious actor for so long, then when they made "Airplane" in 1980 he brought his serious deadpan delivery to an off the wall comedy. After that they made the original "Police Squad" TV show, which ran for only 6 episodes but is now a cult classic. From there the Naked Gun and everything else Leslie did after was all comedy. But it was his long-time stint as a serious actor that made his switch to comedy that much funnier. Naked Gun might be the greatest comedy movie ever.
This movie was brought to you by the same people who wrote "Airplane!" Also, loved the Dirty Harry reference.
My parents love this movie, we used to watch it together :3 also everytime i met someone I'd always say "the feeling is mutual" no matter how they greeted me

Weird Al made a cameo in this because he was a fan of "Police Squad", the show this is based on, and word found its way to the Zuckers, so that's why he's here. He's also in Naked Gun 2 1/2, but not as himself. He is himself, however, in Naked Gun 33 1/3, appearing in a scene with Vanna White from "Wheel of Fortune". Also, Charlotte Zucker, David and Jerry's mother", makes a brief appearance in this as Ludwig's secretary. She had a small part in the majority of the films they produced and/or directed.

I Am, I'm Going To Watch Top Gun First
10:15 Ricardo Montalbán, God I love his performances so much. From Star Trek to Spy Kids he still knew how to kick ass.
I remember back in the day, we used to have this film on VHS, but at the very end, right after Nordberg gets flipped over the railing of the stadium, it jumped to Beverly Hills Cop (the first one), robbery scene at the beginning. I really loved both those films.
For Weird Al, I agree that UHF is a great movie to watch, but, I also HIGHLY recommend you watch his Fat music video after watching Michael Jackson's Bad music video. So good! Thank you for watching this movie! It was a favorite of my childhood and watching your pure joy made my week.
My parents took me to see this in theaters when I was five... They had A LOT of explaining to do after
You can watch this a hundred times and you’ll always notice something new each time.
I didn't see Naked Gun until I was 30. I'm 32 now. I'm glad I gave it a chance because now it's become one of my favourite comedies to watch when I'm feeling down.
Well now you definitely have to watch 'UHF' with weird Al.
I love that you like Ricardo Montalbán's visage and voice, and I encourage you to watch an episode of the original Star Trek, 'Space Seed', and then watch it's movie sequel, 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan'. His performance in both is EXCELLENET!
Naked Gun is a textbook example of extreme satire of typical movie stereotypes along with comedic sight gags
Weird al has parodied everyone. Michael Jackson, Madonna, Coolio, even lady gaga. Time to discover him. He's hilarious!!!
Weird Al Yankovic's' musicography has Eat it, Like a Surgeon, White & Nerdy, Bye Bye Mister Anakin Guy, among hundreds of other parody songs. I saw this on one of my first dates with my girlfriend, long since wife, and it was uproarious! It almost hurt watching it. The theater was packed!

In Frank's defense, I do have bring out a Finnish proverb: "The one who pees without farting, will die without marrying".

Not all proverbs are winners , apparently.
This was great! Laughed thru the entire reaction!👍👍 Saw this one first time it came out on VHS. Yes,i'm that old! 😉
Bro, that music video line was classic! You're reaction made me laugh harder than the first time I originally saw it! Thank you for that I needed it! Also, amazing job on your review of The Jerk! Keep up the good work my brother!
I literally just watched this yesterday myself I love this movie. If you've never watched anything with Weird Al you need to watch UHF

For me the 2nd one Is the best in the trillogy. U must watch them :D Greetins from Peru 😁
Fun fact: That scene where the villain Ludwig finds a ring and a finger in his hotdog is in reference to the scene where Frank kills the Ludwig henchman who falls into the vat of 'stuff'. That vat is for hot dogs and the factory is owned by Ludwig.
I saw this in the movie theater when I was going to middle school. Two of my cousins and I saw it together. We were laughing so hard over it that we just stayed in our seats and caught the next showing, watching it a 2nd time. When it eventually hit home video on VHS I got it and we eventually wore out the tape from all of the repeated viewings. Good reaction, man!
Such an amazing movie 😂
Those weren't candy they were eating, they were some sort of pistachios with a pink shell, which would leave a reddish-pink stain.

I guess younger people wouldn't recognize them since they stopped dying them red years ago.

@@MrMo0nlight I didn't know. I never cared for them.
Great observation about him not knowing much about baseball but previously stating he thinks about it to prevent his "gun from going off". I've seen the movie several times and never thought about that.
I’m glad your generation likes to watch movies of comedy from the 80’s and 90’s I recommend the next comedy for you called Space Balls. You’ll love it!🤣
