In the time line movie, this happens in 1995, 2 years before Jugdment Day. It´s crazy. Filmed in 1991 this was a absolutely hit on cinemas. Now it´s catalogate as the best action film of all times. Great reaction!! :D

I watched this movie as a kid 30 years ago, and here I am 30 years later, watching someone else watching it for the first time. Time is weird... But not once in those 30 years I've regretted watching T2. It's a badass movie.

With regard to John's voice, the actor Edward Furlong did have a poorly timed bout with puberty partway through filming. Not only did his voice suddenly change, but he also had a growth spurt so they had to account for him being taller in some scenes.

Great reaction to the final chapter of the Terminator saga! The man taking pictures while looked stunned in the mall is the same character (and actor) who was the police officer that Arnold took the police car from in his pursuit of Kyle and Sarah in the first movie. That's why he looks stunned: he knows who this guy is and he knows the damage and killing he was responsible for the last time he saw him. He's also the source of the current day photos the officers show Sarah in Pescadero. It's not mentioned or referred to in any editions, but it is an Easter Egg that a friend of mine showed me. Robert Patrick trained so hard for this role as the T-1000. Training to fire a gun without the reflexive blink. Learning to run full speed only breathing through his nose, and he was fast enough a sprinter that he actually caught the dirt bike in the mall parking garage. He was so amazingly intimidating in this movie, as much as or even more so than Arnold, and that's saying something! When the orderly licks Sarah in the hospital, that was apparently one of the so-called catatonia tests done by unethical or sadistic orderlies according to an old friend of mine who had worked in a few psych hospitals, mainly in California, back in the late 70s and early 80s. It wasn't unusual for patients to try to get an advantage by pretending to be catatonic, hoping that the staff would think that they were out of it and not pay much attention so they could try to escape, create havoc, or whatever. Licking someone's face was a mild way of testing, according to my friend. The more standard way of testing among the more brutal orderlies was what was called a cup check, basically hitting the person in the crotch as hard as they could with a broomstick or something like that (the tonfa, shown in the movie, or a billyclub, wasn't standard when he was working in the field, so the evil jerks had to use other items like broomsticks of knees). If they didn't react then they were catatonic. And, sometimes, the catatonic patients needed to be taken to the hospital due to the damage inflicted by whatever the orderly did causing ruptures or internal damage. Apparently one patient lost his testicles as it was several days before it was realized how badly he had been hurt. And, of course, no one ever knew how it happened. “He musta fallen, or done it to himself to try to get out of here.” My friend never missed that job. He told me that some people did things worse than that, but those stories don't need repeating. There are two sets of twins in this movie. One set are the brothers who played the security guard at Pescadero and the T-1000 imitating him. The other set are Linda Hamilton and her twin sister Lesley who played the other Sarah in the sequences like the nightmare where there are two of her are in the same scene. Lesley, a nurse in real life, passed away a few years ago. The T-1000 being able to copy John would be of no value to it. Its mimetic abilities were to allow it to take forms that would allow it to get closer to its target. Turning into the target wouldn't help, because John sure as hell wouldn't trust another version of himself. It amused me that after the talk in the garage about the Terminator trying to appear more human the Terminator begins copying John's mannerisms and his one sided half smirk smile. This is best seen in the exchange after he hefts the minigun in Sarah's arms bunker. I remember learning that Cameron got a letter from a group of scientists congratulating him for the most realistic depiction of a nuclear detonation in a city in Sarah's nightmare. This horrified him since he was just trying to create the most over the top terrifying image he could, only to discover that it was accurate. Luckily, Sarah stepped back from Terminator mode before killing Dyson, which is good. Killing Dyson wouldn't have changed much of anything anyway. Cyberdyne still would have had the parts, all his notes, and everything they needed to complete the project. Judgment Day would have come, just on a different day other than Michael Jackson's (and my little sister's) birthday. The excellent Joe Morton, who played Dyson, had an accident that punctured one of his lungs when he was younger, so he knew firsthand how Dyson should be breathing/gasping at the end. And, really, Miles Dyson is the biggest damn hero in this movie. In the space of an hour he goes from absolute dedication to his work which he loves to being willing to die to ensure that his work is destroyed to save the world. He even gives the men who killed him a chance to escape their own deaths. No bigger hero in this movie. In my opinion, the extended edition had two advantages over the standard edition. Though it wasn't obvious in its performance, the continuous damage the T-1000 was taking from every shot that hit it and every impact was affecting it. It is most obvious at the scene in the smelting plant after being shattered when, as shown in the theater release, its feet tended to take on the aspect of the flooring as it walked and, in the extended edition, when it grabbed a railing its hand mimicked the paint job on the railing. Also, in the extended edition, at the final scene when Sarah is calling out for John, he looks down and sees that the fake Sarah's feet look like the ironwork that the T-1000 is standing on and he knows for sure which to trust. The extended edition variant ending is also superior (to me) for one more reason: it ends with older Sarah sitting on a playground bench and watching her adult son playing with her granddaughter, meaning that this Terminator movie is absolutely the end of the franchise, and all the movies that steal the name of the series after this are just lame cash grabs and can and should be avoided like the plague, in my opinion.

The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation. The Terminator is possibly the greatest "B-movie" ever made. By that i mean, it is the greatest low-budget sci-fi ever produced. Some of the effects stand out like a sore thumb. But The Terminator is still a great inspiration for future filmmakers. Cameron showed us what can be possible on a small budget and its freaking amazing. T2 on the other hand is the greatest action movie ever made. Cameron showed us whats possible once youve established yourself in the industry. And its freaking phenomenal. Before The Matrix, Fast and the Furious, and the MCU, there was Terminator 2: Judgment Day. And frankly, this movie is far more timeless and effective than any action film since. Linda Hamilton shouldve been nominated for Best Actress. She was so great in T2, Hamilton made Sarah Connor one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles ever put on film. Her Sarah Connor is right up there with James Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind. T2 is arguably the greatest sequel ever made. The only two movie sequels that even come close are Cameron's Aliens and The Godfather Part II. You can skip the other "Terminator movies." They're not Alien 3 bad but they're still pointless, disappointing and even offensive.

Guns n´Roses are playing (You could be mine) and a few minutes later Arnold is pulling his (shoot) Gun out of a box of Roses. That´s a master in foreshadowing. 4. Arnold did many of his own stunts in this movie, including riding the motorcycle. At one point he was injured, and they had to stop production for a couple of weeks so he could recover. 5. Arnold is not left-handed, but the way he works that shotgun is impressive😱 6. The twin guards at the psych ward also played in "Good Morning Vietnam". 7. GOOF, The dogs at Enrique's place didn't react to "Uncle Bob" as a terminator. 8. "I need a vacation" was ad lib. 9. This is the action movie GOAT.

Not only is it better than the first, T2 is IMO the ultimate escapist sci fi action movie. It's not "high art" but extremely well made. It's what I call a smart dumb movie, and that's good enough for this smart dumb guy. I also put Jaws and Star Wars in that category. It's safe to say I liked T2 from the first time I saw it. As a bonus, it had a killer Guns N Roses song/music video accompanying it.

Well, if you like James Cameron, then you may also like: John Carpenter :) The Thing from 1983 is an amazing psychological action thriller with fantastic Kurt Russell - actually it's one of my favourites of all times. And also "Christine" based on Stephen King's book is a good movie, with nice concept and absolutely beautiful ... car :) with a soul xD Terminator II had an amazing effects. It's probably the first or one of the first movies where computers / CGI started to play the huge parts. All of these morphing scenes. In 1991 it was like big: "wooooow". (ie. the scene when Terminator's body morphs through the cell bars / doors). Overall, it was an amazing sequel. The next big sci-fi movie, with amazing effects was probably the Matrix from the late 90's.

If you want to watch the next Terminator movies, don't expect them to be as good and deep as this one, they were of a much worse overall quality. Your conclusion saying "they will be fugitives now" is very correct, and in that regard, there's a TV show that takes place after Terminator 2 (basically ignoring the subsequent movies completely), show's called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, has 2 seasons, and i think that material is much more faithful to the franchise than all the other Terminator movies. Very good show, and i was very sad for it to end the way it ended in season 2.

So there a discussion you to make if you’re to continue with this show, there was a TV show that continues where this movie finishes which leads into the third movie called THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (which is very good) or you could just watch the next movie . But don’t watch any of the other films after the third movie, there not great and they will really screw up the timeline ( they jump all over the timeline rewriting everything) the TV show will be hard to find, but is well worth the effort

Terminator 3 tries very hard to live up to this film, but ultimately fails. Although I do actually like the choice of where they went at the end of T3, what the conclusion was. As far as I'm concerned (by now) it's not really a Terminator film unless Cameron writes and directs it, so there are only two real Terminator films, which are the two you've now seen. You're not missing much by missing all the films that follow in the franchise.

I was 22 when I saw this in theaters. Not quite as amazing as Aliens but up there, although my favorite Cameron film is The Abyss. I agree with a lot of other people in the comments though. Stop here. The other fims are a waste of time. They just confuse things past the point of making any sense. Much like the Alien films everything past the second film is just a let down.
