The giant godzilla thing Aang turned into was basically a manifestation of the ocean spirit, the other fish in the pond. You can see the fish glow just before Aang falls into the pond. The ocean spirit basically channeled it's power and used Aang as a vehicle to steam roll the fire nation lol.

A cool detail to add to this is that since he was purely the ocean spirit he didn't use any pulling movement as part of the water bending.

In its rage, the Ocean Spirit's Koizilla was only pushing the water, because the pull energy was the Moon Spirit's dominion. That was also the reason why all the waterbenders couldn't bend. Genius bonus: aside from impending global catastrophy caused by ALL body of water turned havoc, the other reason why Iroh was panicking once he knew Zhao's plan was bc moonlight is sunlight reflected. Theredore, firebenders also need the moon for access their power in a stable manner even at night.

It's so much fun to see reactors who genuinely are invested in the story and follow the plot.

You may have noticed that when the ocean spirit took Zhao, Aang was no longer part of it at all (the kaiju spirit). Aang would never kill anyone, but the ocean spirit took its vengeance. Zhao was too proud to take Zuko’s help and so refused to take his hand, which is also a fitting part of Zhao’s end due to his own flaws. Great reaction, looking forward to the rest! 🎉

And for just a little bit while Zuko was offering his hand, the ocean spirit seemed to wait for Zhao's response, maybe for a last chance at redemption. Once Zhao refuses Zuko's help out of pride, the ocean spirit goes ahead and pulls him down with it.

Great reaction, as always. So genuine and fun. Couple of things about the episode I'm sure others will mention..When the moon spirit, which represents "pull", was killed and Aang merged with the ocean spirit, which represents "push"...you'll notice "Koizilla" attacked the Fire Nation by pushing them. Also, during the black & white period, Princess Yue's eyes remained blue, representing her connection to the Moon spirit.

Lol no. The koizilla also used slashes. I would say it was because the devs were trying to prevent that much of body count so most of the ships were pushed away

Not only the best animated series of all time, but one of the best series in general. Now things really kick off with book 2, prepare for a void to be missing in your heart when you eventually complete the whole show. It really is a masterpiece

I laughed when you said, "Is she now the fish?" That's the same reaction me and my brother had when we watched it. Book 2 will introduced two iconic characters, the one you'll absoultely love and another that you'll definitely hate.

The Water Tribe had an excellent defensive position. They would lose that advantage if they left their city to try to take the battle to the fleet. The Fire Nation had a massive numbers advantage. The Fire Nation got in anyway, but the outcome of the battle would likely have been very different without Zhao's moon shenanigans.

Really enjoying your reactions! The fandom calls the creature Koizilla. Zuko's sister was briefly seen in the Angi Kai scene in The Storm, next to Iroh. This being a series for kids 8 years and older meant it was difficult to show deaths on screen, but RIP Zhao. He sucked anyway, great voice actor though. And note that Zuko showed compassion in his unguarded, unwitnessed moment; because he has been badly punished for showing compassion before.

Zuko tried to save him because thats who he is. Underneath all the rage, all the pain, all of the drive to regain his place back home, hes still just a good kid who wants to protect and serve his people. Even if they dont appeciate what he does for them. Zhao certainly didnt.

Zhao was not attacking the Northern Water Tribe to get Aang. It is the goal of the Fire Lord/Nation to conquer all other nations and form a Fire Empire, essentially. They wiped out the Air Nation and also drastically reduced the size/power of the Southern Water Tribe, so the only two nations left to conquer are the Northern Water Tribe and the Earth Kingdom.

Aang combined with the black fish witch is the ocean spirit. That’s what happened. Btw Fire Lord Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamill🔥 it’s about to get crazy🤐

Koizilla is a merging of the Avatar with the ocean spirit. If you pay attention you can see that Aang doesn't pull any water but he pushes plenty.

Poor Sokka can't catch a break 😢

This was such a great reaction. My favorite moments were 19:04 and 20:18, but the cherry on top was definitely 20:56. To confirm your doubts. Yes, Zhao is dead; that was his end, and because Zuko showed mercy, you and especially your wife will see that he is more than meets the eye and that he is a much more complex person. especially watching him in the next season. It's hard to believe, but the show really gets better with every book. As always Great reaction! I'm buzzing for book 2.❤

You don't show mercy because the person deserves it, that's kind of the point of mercy. If you're in a position to offer it, you've already won. Zuko is showing how much he's grown, setting aside retribution in favor of compassion for Zhao. It's a harder, but more honorable choice. But Zhao would rather die than accept defeat, or allow Zuko to have that honor. Remember the first time they fought, he expected Zuko to end him. "Your father raised a coward!" His belief that mercy is weak and cowardly is his downfall, in the end. (Well, that and all the other awful things he did, but like, right at the end, I mean).

love love loved your reaction to this season finale! it was so sad when yue died and i'm glad and it was hilarious how you two kept hoping for zhao's death haha. so so so excited for you getting into season 2!

i haven't started the reaction yet, but i love your comments and conversation at the start of this video! i would love it if you added more theories and discussions before/after episodes. some people might not care for it as much and so i think some creators add chapters to skip around the video, but i would watch them through!

First, congrats on reaching 1k subs!! I'm sure you'll gain many more as you both seem genuine & fun in your reactions. Reacting to such a great show like ATLA also doesn't hurt. I love this two part finale which gives a better sense of the emotional depth that this show will reach. Eagerly looking forward to Book 2 - Earth where you'll get introduced to some more great characters, some you'll love and some you'll definitely not. You'll get a very good idea of Azula's character in the Book 2 premiere.

The scene where Zuko reaches out to Zhao is not about what Zhao deserves it speaks more on Zuko's character as a person so it is kinda strange to say "what is wrong with Zuko" when he is showing his best virtues this response is a bit similar to how his father treated him for showing his best virtue during the war meeting where he then proceeds to be banished as a consequence

Maybe he thought sokka had the most experience as he had been out in the world with the avatar. I’m not sure. I like to think it’s because he knew they loved each other though! 🥰

I started following you because I saw you reacting to avatar. There are many channels that react to avatar. You can't watch all the channels and see everyone's reactions and rewatch all the episodes all the time. I chose you, to check only your reactions, but it won't be worth continuing to check if the series is 3 seasons long, 20 episodes per season and you release like 2-3 avatar videos a month. It won't be worth staying and waiting/longing for you to release a new video. You created a patreon to make a little more money from your job. But if you want to earn more money, you should separate your work from your free time. Does not react to films etc. that do not go well on your channel. Avatar is the only series doing well. It works best on your channel, bet on it. Post avatar videos. After avatar, you can react to korra, etc. Movies and series you want to watch can be watched privately outside of KZread. Then you don't have to edit and spend time on such videos. Focus on what is going well.

We focus on what we want to watch. We do this because we LOVE tv and film. We work 50 hours a week which is why we created patreon so that we release content as soon as possible. Editing is a long process and KZread is getting worse for copyrighting content. I hear what you are saying and we will be working hard to release episodes faster. But unfortunately like the big KZreadrs, we have to manage our time between work and KZread. I would love to sit at home all day and make videos about avatar but we can’t right now. It will get quicker but we won’t stop watching other content that we enjoy. Please don’t feel like you only have to watch our reaction. There are amazing KZreadrs out there! That being said we do massively appreciate everyone that takes the time to watch our videos :)

@@Reactsandgames I know I don't have to just check on you guys. What I mean is that many others also react to avatar. And I and other viewers can't and don't want to watch all these youtubers videos because they all react to the same episode. Therefore, many choose 1 or few channels to watch. As I wrote, I chose you. You had good reactions, etc. But what I mean is that if you release the episodes as infrequently as you do, people will get tired of waiting and instead start watching others and fascinate them. Then I understand that you work and don't have time for KZread sometimes. I only recommend betting on things that are going well, Many youtubers channels die because they keep posting things they like and not what the viewers want to see. That's why I wrote that you should separate work from leisure. But you yourself decide what to make videos on, of course. I live in Sweden a country with 10 M people and youtube in Sweden is completely dead. All gaming channels that have around 300 thousand followers per channel! gets like 500 - 6k views. They have killed their channels. But do what you wanna do.

For Steph not liking Zuko at this moment is so realistic. I hated Zuko too when I was little watching Book 1. He's pouty, annoying, spoiled and rude to his uncle. I'm actually confused for some people who already liked Zuko so early. But you are going to know more about his arc in the next Books. So excited for you guys to see some new characters. And the next villain is freaking badass, sooo much better than Zhao.

People usually start to appreciate Zuko around the storm episode, as it offers more context for his attitude. At the end of season 1, he's still an antagonist, but it's shown that he isn't as bad as his father or Zhao, that he can grow up and change. I mean it's even suggested in episode 3 after the duel. It's the difference between the likeable villains and the others, the first ones are open for a real change.

The moon spirit saw the future of her death so she made a plan where she gave life to Yue by giving some of her spirit, so in a way when the time came she was able to ensure her survival through Yue. Also the Ocean spirit (black fish) used Ang to manifest himself.

It's so easy to hate Zhao. I mean, he was created as your iconic irredeemable villain, so of course we hate him. And yet, when you realize what his ultimate destiny was, one can only feel sorry for him, even with all the bad things he's done. This is a really fucked up show sometimes 😟

Guys, if I may make a suggestion for your channel? Please ditch the back-ground music you have playing when you two are talking before and after. It's distracting and also makes what you're saying difficult to understand, at times.

If you ever watch the Legend of Korra, you'll learn what happened to Zhao in Season 2. I think you'll find that death is kinder than what ended up happening to him.
