That line where she said "She's been hanging out with a problematic one who's in a scandal these days, she's problematic too!" i think she was talking about a member called Sulli from f(x) People judge IU bcoz she's really good friends with her..Sulli was judged for dating someone who i think has a really bad image and due to this dating scandal Sulli got a lot of hate that affected her mental health so much and she went into depression..IU even made a song on her called "Red Queen" talking about how everyone will love you and praise you but the moment you does something that may not be pleasing in their eyes you suddenly become bad for them and they will start hating and cursing you as if you were not once their fav..and people also have a lil too much interest in IU's love life so the line "what's the gossip about me lately?" was about that. IU gets a lot of hate tbh that girl has been through so much and the line in the beginning where she says "I'll refuse any skinship back off back off" actually, IU was harassed by middle aged men in her debut days you can say this song is really personal and people also comment on her health like where she says "why on earth she like that sort of clothing?..could she change in appearance be due to stress?.. she's a worry, that girl" IU actually has a eating disorder she has suffered with Bulimia so now you know why she suddenly gets too skinny from time to time.. people also thinks of IU as a cocky girl or someone who has too much pride within them when in actual she's a literal angel who cares about her fans and her loved ones so so much so i guess she was referring to them in this line "if she walks with a straight back like this, she'd fall down" she has a lot of passion for her music and likes experimenting but i think she's also afraid bcoz people gets too critical the moment she tries something new thats why that line "what's my score today?" was about her worry..she is also afraid of falling down coz she's at the peak of her career right now i love this song it's a F.U to the haters she's had enough of you people.

Too much assumption...

Just some background, she debuted when she was 15 as a ballad singer. When she performed her first single "Lost Child" on a music show, people actually boo'd her... not cuz she was bad, but cuz she was a nobody and the audience was so impatient wanting to see the artists they were fans of. She quickly switched to pop music and slowly started to gain popularity but after her single "Good Day", which was a highly produced, almost broadway-showtune type pop song, her popularity skyrocketed and she was dubbed "Korea's little sister" because of the pure/fresh concept that was given to her. The next big hit for her was "You and I" which had a similar vibe as Good Day. After personal photos of her and another idol (eunhyuk of super junior) leaked the Korean public or "netizens" went HAM on her. They weren't even particularly scandalous pictures but the fact that she wasn't actually this "innocent girl" that the media created her to be (she was already 20yrs old Korean age at the time, mind you) and dating someone was so outrageous they called her a sly fox and other bs for "acting pure" and xyz. (Also mind you, Eunhyuk didn't get half the amount of shit as she did) She still remained popular but the gossip and negative comments never really stopped and people started nitpicking at everything going on her personal life ever since. When she released the album "Chatshire" it was the first album that was 100% written by her. She had been credited for lyrics for several songs on previous albums but none of them where ever lead singles. The lead single for "Chat-shire" was "23" and it was a totally different vibe from anything she had put out before. This was definitely a turning point for her musically. I didn't know she was boo'd for singing Lost Child! That's the song that got me listening to her few years ago, even before Good Day. Lost Child sounded really mature and dark, I like it.

As a German I'm always surprised some people might not get soccer reference instantly (which is of course a thing if soccer isn't as big as in Germany) Red and yellow card are used in daily German to describe that someone went a bit too fare or crossed the line completely lol

The thing with IU, much like ZICO/Block B/BTS is that there's no "traditional" "IU sound". She's pretty fearless in her exploration of what she can do musically, and her sound and range goes all over the map. She's one of my favourite artists, Korean or otherwise, simply for how unapologetic she is about being a musician that doesn't tie herself down to one spot. And yes, she's freaking adorable. Almost impossibly beautiful. For my money, no one comes close to her in terms of looks.

She is one of the most influential singers in Korea and basically whatever she releases kills on the charts. She is direct/yet polite, outgoing yet shy. She is extremely intelligent and amazing as a person and artist. I think this song is not just about haters but also about fans who assume they have a right to touch her or that they know her personally. She’s been making music and in the public eye as “Korea’s sweetheart” since she was very young and was policed into a very “cute and innocent” image even as she got older so as she got more autonomy to write her own music the songs have been very direct and personally. Idk I just love her.

I like her song with G-Dragon as well, it's called Palette. You should also check out Suran if you haven't already. I really dig her style. She was featured on Suga's mixtape, and he produced a song of hers called Wine.

The studio who directed IU's music video is called VM project architecture! They have directed a lot of kpop idol's mvs, such as Seventeen (I think,, almost all of them), Red Velvet, and Tiffany from SNSD! Their style is super distinct, so when I saw BBIBBI I had a feeling it was them. I recommend checking out their instagram, you can see all the mv's they've created. I admire their work a lot, especially with the aesthetic and colours, and I'm really happy you took a notice to that in IU's music video!

i've been Uaena (IU fan) since 2008, i've watched her grow and everything. Her voice is beautiful but the things that made me fall for her is her personality. She is very honest and very loyal to her fan. This song BBiBBi is to celebrate her 10 year anniversary since debut. (i feel so old hahahhaha) Anyway, to answer your question, yes, she did have a closed friend that made a lot of headline i won't say the name here but you can google it later. I love IU and i'll attend her concert in my country soon. I can't wait!!!!
