My numbers of watches are up there too and I can honestly say I have yet to get tired of this song. I've needed to do other things for a break but it's still so groundbreaking, I can see it being remembered in history, which is hard to say, with so much music available. Ren is amazing all around though, I'm hoping that the reactors branch out and pull up some of his older music as well. Songs like the 4 retakes are brilliant too!

"Guys, guys...I'm gonna pause it. Ok, don't get mad guys, I'm gonna pause it". Might be the first time I smiled at that particular part of the song. Subbed and liked. Great reaction. I hope you watch it again without pauses to experience the arrangement completely. I have found the less it is paused the more emotional the reaction as Ren's manipulation of flow/tempo contributes to the power of the story and the delivery.

Apologies if someone else already gave the full explanation on his health, but I scrolled a bit and didn't see one yet. In 2017 he was signed by Sony and then fell mysteriously ill (they ended up dropping him because of it- he's completely independent now). He was bed bound with crippling pain, psychosis and many other issues for the better part of a decade, and poured himself into his music to get him through. He was misdiagnosed as Bipolar for the first 5 years and then finally got a correct diagnosis of Lyme Disease. (His song Sick Boi is in part about all of this). By that point the untreated Lyme had wreaked havoc on his body and mind. In 2018 I believe he got a stem cell transplant and was able to get his life back, though he still deals with some symptoms that he's now in Canada working to resolve over the next 6 months or so. The poor guy has been through absolute hell but it's such an inspiration to see him turn those experiences into something so profound.

Sublime!! That's it! Man, I've probably watched 40 reaction videos now in the two weeks since discovering this song, and you're the first to hear the Bradley Nowell, singer of Sublime, in Ren and absolutely!! Also, love how you recognized that this is a musical play. Anyway, I'm putting together a series of blog posts about this song, the many reaction videos and the messages I hear take from it, and I'll throw a nod your way in the Reaction Video post (won't come out for another several days). One thing I look for in Reaction Video folks is people being themselves and I got that from you! Keep it up and yes, check out more Ren!

"Why me, why am I sick?" You nailed what inspired this song from him. Awhile ago he got signed with Sony and then immediately got sick and misdiagnosed and spent several years getting treatments that literally just made things worse. He talks about how he felt exactly that. Why me? Why my body? Luckily he finally found out he has Lyme Disease and has been getting treatment. Ren is a dope artist and your reaction was dope too!

Since he talked about Lucifer and sin previously, I wonder if there is a religious context to the part about rising from the East and settling in the ocean. He could be referring to Psalm 139:9 "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea". Not saying I'm correct or even that he's religious, but that's what stood out to me.

There is lots of biblical references in this and if you notice, I'm not at that part of the video but he cries during his monolog at the end

Great choice for agreeing to do this song! Dude, you did an amazing job! I knew it within a min you were going to be hooked. Thank you! We are all human I love, we love, watching the emotions that come, starting at the beginning with, “omg, what is this, Saw?” The following emotions are so beautiful to watch and most of our, favorite thing to do. Hence the millions of reaction videos watched for this song. Next comes, “what?” And then “what is he talking about?” And “oh my freaking goodness!!!! This song is 9 min long.” “WTH”. Then comes the head slowly shaking, eyes getting bigger and puckered lips. While ren sings calmly and slowly, And then Ren2 says, in the negative Ren voice, completely changing the sound and tone and he sings, speaks, raps, whatever, , “you sound more insane than I do. You really think those doctors are there to remind you.” And 80-90% of the time, comes the pause and every reactor takes a deep breath, starts laughing or holding back tears and sometimes standing up almost hyperventilating and your brains start to explode You begin to describe what you think is happening. And then, if they take a long break there, every single “verse” or whatever you’d call rens amazing bars in different voices, sets of lines. You and all, We, all stop pausing as much by the final “hope”, longer verse. And just talk straight through ren singing. Almost feels rude to stop the masterpiece. I’d say most reactions are an average of 20 min. And I love everyone of them But dude, you did an amazing job. So genuine. Such respect for greatness. Who would have thunk obsessing over reactors experiences would be one of our generations past times but it absolutely will be Oh yeah, then there is the , “and guys, omgoodness we still have 2 minutes and you press play for one last hurrah and then about crap yourself when he starts to speak I wish I had a lot more time becasue I could give a better rundown of the consistent Hi Ren reactions. Omg where have you been???😜 he’s in Canada right now getting treatment. He was bitten by a tick and got Lyme disease and went through hell trying to figure out what was wrong. He def sounds like Bradley when he's going for more of a reggae vibe, like in his song Love Music pt 3.

Normally, the overuse of the word "Guys!" grates on my nerves. But your reaction was so endearing that all the "GUYS!" usage made me smile. Ren has that effect on everyone. Your mind was blown just like all of ours. Great reaction!

Ren is the bassist/guitarist/singer in The Big Push too.

He was bitten by a tick something like 10 years ago, and it went undiagnosed his life was almost unlivable and he was a test subject for this pill after that pill just to try to figure out how to help. He also heard actual voices

@@capatheist I live in tick country in canada it's the deer ticks which carry Lyme disease, during tick season this year I took my dog for a walk down alleyways in the city not out in the wilderness but when I got home I saw one on my dog. Checked him over then got my wife to check me over. I had two. The tick needs to be attached for a day at least to transfer Lyme. So here if you go out anywhere a tick could be you get a full body check by your partner and ticks have moved farther north then ever, where my wife is from they would never ever see a tick, but they have moved farther and farther north where ticks are now there

@@bookerwills8649 sure, we have to learn what we can from North America about Lyme disease. Because our governments (not sure about Britain but definitely Australia where I live) Refuse to acknowledge the existence of the disease in the country. As such the publicly funded medical system will often refuse to diagnose it as Lyme disease, and will send you through endless tests for other autoimmune conditions. So for the hundreds and possibly a few thousand people in australia that are experiencing the symptoms of Lyme disease their forced to look overseas for proper treatment

Evil Ren has the light behind him, so his face is in the dark, the lights flicker when he speaks and he strums his guitar more aggressively. Ren himself has the light in front of him brightening him, lights don't flicker, and guitar strumming is smooth and low.

Haven't made it to the end of the video yet, so may drop another comment after I do, but because many have made the comparison and almost no one gets his name right... In Irish, a C never makes an S sound, always a K sound...so it is Killian Murphy, not Sillian. But, yeah, if they ever do a Peaky Blinders prequel, they should toss Ren some blue contacts and a script. He's got the presence and ability to inhabit a character to make that a solid second career if he ever had a mind to act.

How weird. If you watch Ren on twitch, you'll see that he said when he was sick he spent some time wondering "why me?" and even considered suicide, but he learned to accept that this was part of his life and it made him who he is. And today on his premiere of his new song he was "rocking his new Sublime jumper"

Not “crazy” Ren, its the negative voice in his head. Something we all battle with to some degree. His mental health suffered severely from being misdiagnosed for a decade and having psychosis from the daily pain but being told it was all in his head. He finally got the proper diagnosis of Lyme Disease, but being he had it for so long without being treated properly it’s wreaked havoc on his physical health, as well as his mental health. But he’s found a specialist that will treat it all in increments and is in Canada getting that care.

I don"t think it is so much about his illnesses, as it is about pointing out the "human condition". We all struggle with those inner demons, and only Gods light can help us stand against the snakes out there!
