First time on your channel and it was Ren that brought me here. I know I'm not alone in following Ren's work as it's been way too long since an artist has held the mirror up and poured out the truth no matter how ugly or raw it gets. the mirror that many of us have struggled to face , Until now. Whether in part or in whole we recognise ourselves reflecting back at us, but most importantly ew recognise that we are far from alone. This guy is just what the world needs right now and he is a bringer of hope and inspiration. What a ride. Here is a little bit about his background, in case you don't know already. I gathered it from an old newspaper interview and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. His full name is Ren Eryn Gill. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. His illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, and joints. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. He is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months. Ren's Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, thyroid, adrenals, and bones. Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad." Let's keep supporting Ren and not pull a "Sony" on him as he undergoes his treatment. Easily one of the best things I've ever watched

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but this was filmed live in one take. This is the fourth try I believe. He sets it all up the way he wants it and people he knows in his hometown film it and, in this case, do the lights, etc. He is truly a remarkable talent. The more l learn, the more blown is my mind. I've explored so much more of his music and he crosses all genres, does covers, plays in bands, busks in the street, and collaborates one on one with friends. It's crazy!

Samuel confirmed on another reaction from another cinematographer that it was 4 takes, and the result is actually a 2-fer because you have to have 1 good take with the fixed cameras then a 2nd good take with the handheld because it would be in the distance shots on a one take shoot.

My guess with Ren's intro guitar playing on many songs is a bard gathering an audience. To me they seem like " Hey, listen up...story starts soon, here are my credentials." Watch the Jenny and Screech (FULL) for similar intros and incredible storytelling.

"Just as sure as rain fall soon runs dry when you stand in the eye of the storm" That is such an underrated line. It fits so well with the theme of the song. You can't outrun and escape the storm so find your calm by standing in the eye of the storm despite knowing it surrounds you.

My take on the intro and outro is the odd yodelling is supposed to represent the ebb and flow of life which book-ends the dark, introspective battle where he faces off with his own personal and very real demon. There is a frank and raw analysis by Ren himself. His psychosis and mental struggles stem from a long period of wrongly prescribed depression medicine which hid his actual Lyme's Disease symptoms. He's finally been undergoing the correct treatment to undo 10plus years of mental and physical damage. It's true, he can take the listener to some very dark places, but be sure to check out his more energetic and incredibly accomplished covers and unbelievably technical rap skills. I recommend The hunger, Chalk Outlines, Jenny/Screech/Violet's Tale and yes, Sick Boi which might explain a little more.

My take is that the track starts with the falsetto, which is Hopeful Ren. Then the knocking percussion and flickering lights show up, which is Shadow Ren. By the end, Hopeful Ren has had his epiphany that they are two sides of the same coin and cannot exist separately, so the outro is both Shadow Ren (lights flickering) and Hopeful Ren (falsetto vocalization) working, dancing in synch. Can't wait for next Wednesday.

I wish people recommending this video, would tell reactors not to bother with the useless captions. Not only are the captions wrong at least half the time but it ends up with reactors focusing on reading the captions rather than focusing on Ren's incredible performance.

Would love to see you do Sick Boi, but even more than that I’d like to see you do his trilogy of songs Jenny/Screech/Violet’s Tale. If you do them, just a heads up, they’re best viewed one after the other in that order in one video. It’s a story told across three songs and splitting them up makes for a less good video 😉. His guitar skills really shine in those pieces.

Few tips if you want to comment on a video stop the video speak then replay the video, i couldn't hear anything you said when you let the video play, not only could i not hear you also muffled the video as well ,pause say what you want to say then un pause the video.. You did the same on your sum up you pressed play to start the video again have you any idea how annoying it is to try to concentrate on two people talking at the same time, what happens is no one hear anything of what either of you says.. Ps turnup your mic. Apart from that a very good reaction.
