I’m 32 and I still listen to Girls’ Generation because they’re the first group I ever stan since 2009 when I was 19.

The thing with Girls Generation is every comeback's concept is different. They can fit into any concept and that's part of the fun. They're not boring and each member is charismatic with her own charm. I started listening to KPop since the days of SES and BoA. SNSD is still the best girl group for me. Btw, love your reaction. GIRLS' GENERATION is like the textbook for girl groups! The South Korean idol industry has always been oriented towards boy groups. But during SNSD's "Gee" and "Genie", boy groups were defeated and vice versa, people were attracted to SNSD. During that time, ALL IDOLS CANNOT WIN AGAINST SNSD. Twice, Blackpink, and Red Velvet may be top female idols now, but they can't win against EXO or BTS. But during SNSD's golden year, SNSD HAD DESTROYED ALL IDOL MEN like Super Junior, Big Bang, TVXQ, 2PM. Only SNSD girl groups can win Album of the Year at the Golden Disk Award.

the moment they debuted people said snsd were just female copy of super junior since they have more than 5 members when other ggs active during those have 4-5 members (wonder girl, brown eyed girls, kara, jewelry, etc...). but now its common to see new gg to debut with many members.

This was the very first kpop group ive ever listened to!! They were the ones that got me into kpop 🥺"You Think" and "Catch Me If You Can" are my fave songs of theirs :D

To tell the truth 2nd Generation Kpop is GOLD

gee is so much nostalgia to me. back then when i was a teenager and didnt even know what kpop was, gee was everywhere on the internet. you didnt even have proper internet or smart phones, you downloaded that shit forever and then listened on an ipod or something lol what a time edit: yes thats minho from shinee in gee lol

First Generation girl groups had 3-5 members, and of the 14 groups that debuted between 1997 and 2007, half of them disbanded after 2-3 years. Many industry insiders and k-pop fans assumed a 9-member girl group was destined to disappear in 2 years. 10 months after their debut, at the 2008 Dream Concert SNSD were 'boycotted' by almost all of the 50,000+ k-pop fans attending---an unprecedented event that has gone down in history as "The Black Ocean'. Clarification: "Holiday" was their last full group (OT8) track. Their most recent release of any sort was the subunit Oh!GG with "Lil Touch".

The "west" or mostly the US missed out the K-POP explosion during what is termed as the "golden age" of the KPOP generations, which is the second generation. But during that time the second generation boy and girl groups was very popular in most of Asia and some parts of Europe and South America. That's when the time that SNSD is the top GG. They're basically the seniors of GGs of the 3rd gen like Red Velvet (which is their junior in the same company), TWICE, and Blackpink. As of this moment many are saying that we're moving now to the 4th gen yet still we could feel the impact of SNSD as the top Kpop GG.

One of my first ever girl groups! You are in for a treat with their music! Some of the MV's are definitely "of the time they were made" but they are still fun, vibrant, colorful, and a treat! I do recommend checking out the LIVE VERSION of Into the New World which is emotional as hell but you can hear all the emotions in their voice but absolutely check out one of the ABOUT SNSD videos to learn more, they are Queens who helped shape so many girl groups. In the Boys video, the lady with the pixie cut hair in the red outfit is I believe Sunny and one of the lead Vocalists of SNSD. This was such a surprise to see pop up on my timeline! Check out Run Devil Run as well as their subunits for some really fun bits in the MV!

I don’t wanna sound rude but please stop recommending the tokyo dome live to first time viewers because they haven’t learned much of the girls yet and the performance wouldn’t mean as much to them (if they even knew what happened) as it would to us.

Gee is literally the choreography every trainee begin with (along with Super Junior Sorry Sorry). And they end up learning Into the new world (SNSD debut song). Girls Generation is the standard for girl groups since a decade.

(2010), you can find both fairly easy on sites like ebay etc, & not that expensive.. funfact: Oh! was the first korean album ever to include photocards as we know them today so kind of a historical album 😌 but that means unfortunately no pc for the gee mini (or any album prior to Oh!)

I'm so happy I found this reaction thank you. Gee wasn't meant to be their title track, both SNSD and Mercy bought the rights to a song and Duffy released her version called Mercy first, so SNSD scrapped Dancing Queen and made Gee the title track. They released Dancing Queen's MV years later as a treat to fans, but honestly i'm happy Gee came to be as its seen as a staple in kpop, and basically every girl group has covered it. Pixie cut is Sunny and she's always been my bias. The bit at the end of "Oh!" was "Run Devil Run". The last MVs they released as a full group were "Holiday" and "All Night". Their debut was "Into the New World" and has been sung at protests, civil rights marches, and even blared over the DMZ. SNSD is my favorite group and I wasn't aware of your channel until the algorithm recommended this video :D

Girls Generation always makes me go and listen to BEG. I did so as I finished you watching SNSD. (Which leads me to 2ne1 and then I cry.) SNSD is the era I ended up listening to Kpop at first. I listened to a lot of Jrock/Pop and Mandopop. Watching this was very nostalgic! Also as another Easter Egg the climax of "I Got a Boy" also mixes all of the styles they put together in the song to show you that not only can they do all of the genres, they can also do them at the same time.

Oh boy... I'm 45 and I sing this song in the living room all the time. This group was right at the peak of aegyo/hyper cute concepts (like gee and oh!) And The Boys was the start of the girl crush/girl power concepts. They pioneered a lot in girl groups! Keep with it, they are legendary for good reason!!
