I could tell you were having fun with this one. King George is a heck of an entertainer. He has you believing he’s a player but in reality he is very faithful to his wife of over 50 years and he’s a very down to earth and quiet guy… who still lives in Texas. I see a lot of folks suggesting The Fireman, I am going to echo that. It’s fast and fun. It will have you chair dancing for sure!

One of his big hits that helped build his career was ‘The Fireman’ 🧑🏼‍🚒I bet you will definitely love the sound of it. ❤ Then check out some later songs like the recent ‘Codigo’ 🥃 or ‘The Seashores of Old Mexico’ and see if you think his voice still sounds as 🤩 amazing

My aunt, in San Antonio, sang gigs at various places & bands all over the area. I was there when I was about 20 & she took me honky Tonkin to see her guys play.... they sang this at my request, & said ".... that's why I KEEP MY ASS in Tennessee....". It was hilarious. (I live in TN.) 😉🤣🤣🥰

George Strait is my all time favorite singer and I don’t think he ever made a bad song. One of my favorites is Check Yes or No. King George is such a good humble, man who never let fame go to his head after becoming a star not only with his singing career but also on tv. He’s a down to earth family man ❤

I swear, George Strait is the "missing link" when it comes to country music. He is one of a very few select singers who successfully blends old and new (pre/post≈1975-1980) country sounds and really, truly owns it. The only other 2 I can think of off the top of my head who even come close are Randy Travis and Garth Brooks, but even they don't create the perfect fusion of old and new that "Uncle George" does. Although Garth Brooks can and does fuse old and new country often and well, where he REALLY shines is when he fuses country with things you would never expect, like a 1930s to 1940s blues/jazz sound (Rollin'), or an Irish melody (Standing Outside the Fire), or even rap (Calling Baton Rouge, Ain't Goin Down); or when he creates a sound all his own (The Thunder Rolls)...and Randy Travis's voice itself is just too unique to really compare or contrast him to anything old or new, so even though he uses elements of both, and sounds AMAZING, he never reaches that perfect fusion that George does simply because his voice is too unique and pulls you in a different direction.

George really doesn't have a bad song. The following three are close to my heart. The first is a song about one of those cowboys who chase the rodeos, the thrills, the trophies, and the good times living that wandering life. *Amarillo by Morning* is a great honky tonk song; there were many dances, pulled in close by a stranger and getting lost in the dance, still twirling there in my memories. The next song is about running. I didn't run from the law, but I packed up and took my two baby daughters to a tiny Native Alaskan village on Kodiak Island, Alaska. I lived on the island for 22 years before returning to my hometown. *The Seashores of Old Mexico* tells a story about a young man who is running from the law to live life as an ex-pat. *Troubadour* is a song I identify strongly with George and myself. I can tell you have a background in music; I think you will also Identify with the song. The video I have in mind is before a small audience, and George is playing with some older musicians, and I'll tell you what; the fiddle in that song, particularly at the end of the song; the sound is so pure and clear it catches my breath in my throat. Hey, thanks for listening to an old woman's ramblings!
