Fun Fact: If you visit Texas, there's a good chance you'll see a French flag. It's not uncommon to see a lineup of all six that have flown over the state: Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate States of America and the United States.

Good point, and just to mention another fun fact... The Texas State Flag is the only 'State Flag' that's allowed to be 'flown' at the same height as the American Flag. All other State Flags must be displayed below the American Flag. In a nutshell, it was part of the annexation agreement in 1845 when The Republic of Texas (Tayshas/Tejas) joined the Union as the 28th State. Regardless, the fact that u display the flag is humbling, so thank you. And as far as backwards, I think it's so that the Star is displayed with the point on Top. P. S. Thanks for the Statue Of Liberty!!!

Great reaction! That was a steel guitar. It first became popular in Hawaiian music in the 40’s and 50’s. Country music adopted it. Many people hate the twang that it can produce when played with a metal slide. It also has a foot pedal that can stretch the strings like the whammy bar on a regular guitar. A steel guitar is used in some Pink Floyd songs but it is picked instead of using a slide. By the way a violin used in country music is often called a fiddle.

Had ancestors here in Texas before it even became a state. I'd like to apologize to you for any rudeness that came your way over our flag. We are very proud of our state and heritage. We also pride ourselves in having manners and being friendly people. I hope you can forgive whoever made that comment. When flying the Texas flag, the red is on the bottom, and the white is on top. I always think of the white as representing clouds, and the red as representing the red dirt found in parts of Texas. White clouds would be above red ground, so the flag flies with white on top of red.

This device is slid up and down the strings to change notes. There are single neck, double neck, and triple neck steel guitars.

Hi Marie. Thank you for reacting to a George Straight song. He has been one of my favorite country singers for years now. As to the song, it has nothing to do with his personal life. He has been married to his wife for almost 50 years. The instrument you didn't recognize is called a "Steel Guitar". It is called that because you use a steel bar to play it. Originallly from Hawaii in the late 1800's, and a short time later adopted by country music musicians in the US. Hope you are doing well. John.

The instrument that you are asking about is a steel guitar. It's played by plucking the strings and moving a steel bar instead of playing notes with the fingers. There are a few different designs including ones with more than one set of strings or ones with pedals that are either at floor level or hanging from the underside of the body of the instrument that are played with the knees or upper legs. The pedals change the tone of the strings by tightening them.

It can be difficult for a person learning English to understand some country singers, especially if they are from the southern states. This is because southerners sometimes drop the last sound in a word or even pronounce it differently from the rest of the country. I can say this because I'm from deep south Alabama and we have some really pronounced southern accents down here! 🤗

Hi Marie, greetings from Bermuda. That instrument you were wondering about is called a "Pedal Steel Guitar" there are two variations in tunings of the instrument, it's mechanical in changing the pitch of each string, to make different chords, by floor pedals and knee levers... Fun instrument to play. Thanks for the George Strait review!! Regards , Karl from Bermuda.

Why would anyone worry about how a flag is hanging is beyond me they just should be happy that you have their states flag on your wall. Some people are just plain rude to you for being from another country which is crazy. Hun you do your best and most of us really appreciate it.

You're talking about a steel guitar. It has raised strings and is played with a metal bar that slides on top of the strings. If it had pedals below it it is called a pedal steel. In country music the solos will often be played on the pedal steel. These instruments all are descendants of Hawaiian guitar. It was very popular over a hundred years ago in America.

Hello, Marie! Greetings from the state of Illinois. If you got the big map you mentioned in this video, we're up north by Lake Michigan. I enjoy your reactions, I've viewed several of them. I really enjoyed the one where you and your friend visited the BBQ shop in Tours! I'm glad you liked this song. George Strait really has a nice voice, and the song itself is so good!

Steel Guitar and technically it is not a violin. It is a fiddle. I personally don’t know the difference, but in country the musicians mostly use a fiddle.
