I was Born in Lodi, CA. This song was written about it. Thier tour bus broke down and they got stuck here.
Writing from Lodi, CA. The sentiment, "Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again," is on point. Lol. Unless your doing some wine tasting in which case you're good to go.

CCR originated in El Cerrito, CA; part of San Francisco Bay Area. BA types have always been condescending toward California's Central Valley which is clearly reflected in this song. Lodi is actually a lovely little town surrounded primarily by vineyards. I grew up in CV (30 miles from Lodi) and now live in the heart of Silicon Valley so I have perspective of both locales. CCR is uber talented but it's members are not devoid of BA snobbiness.

Lodi was the dullest city in California in the 1960s. Creedence played together for several years in tiny clubs in little cities before they became famous.
Lodi means Lodi, California, I believe. John Fogerty once said the inspiration for the song were trips he made with his father around central California, an area where he said he felt very safe and special. That idea developed into the story about a traveling musician whose career was in the rear view mirror.

Nor Cal girl here, as a kid, whenever we drove through Lodi on the way to the Sierras for a family camping trip, Mom would always belt out this song! Also like Tesla's cover of it, being that they are from Sacramento which is not far from Lodi.
This song is FANTASTIC!!! As parents you really need to check out "Someday Never Comes" you will rethink how you interact with your kids. Another glimpse into JF's lyrical brilliance. So glad you enjoyed this one. It is one of my favorite CCR songs.

When I went to UCSC, we had a hitchhiking contest to see who could get to Lodi and back the fastest. All based on “ stuck in Lodi again”! Some made it back the same day. Others truly got stuck up there and straggled Ina week later. 😂
A lesser known song by CCR that no one ever seems to talk about is "Ramble Tamble". It's a great song with a great guitar solo. Edit: I honestly didn't think I'd get this many responses and likes, amazing.Amber would for sure love it.

I'm from California, and every time I drive through Lodi, I can't help singing out this song.
One can’t miss with CCR. John Fogerty and band members are a treasure. 😊 Thanks Jay and Amber for a great Monday song 🎵
For such short songs, CCR songs are mainly short, they all tell a hell of a story! 50 years later CCR is my road trip band. One of the best of all time.
Lodi is about a half an hour below Sacramento, which is the capital of California. Lodi is in Northern California, not Central or Southern California, and John fogerty and the guys are actually from the Bay area. Rob today said Southern California and considering that I am a Sacramento native and grew up listening to these guys in the '70s, I just want to let you know that we proudly claim them, from our area because they're right below us. I actually had a boyfriend who was from Lodi. Glad that you guys love the song, and the group. Credence was amazing. I don't know if you guys have listened to Green River, or Susie Q, or their remake of I Heard It through the grapevine. Anything you listen to by them is good.

The “Okies” settled the San Juaquin valley in California during the dust bowl and there’s some country folk up there!
Believe it or not, with all the CCR you've done, there at least 2 great ones that you haven't done yet: "Who'll Stop the Rain" and "Up Around the Bend". So I recommend one of those two songs next.
Credence was always a mix of rock, blues, and country.

Keep digging through theirs and John Fogerty’s library. Killer stuff all the way through.
Can't go wrong with CCR. Jay cracked me up the way he laughed at "one night stand" but I think in this case it's referring to a one night gig he was playing in town. 😂
This is pretty much my favorite CCR tune! I loved rocking to it back in the 70's! ♥️♥️✌🇨🇦
Classic CCR from 1969!!!! Please try "Ramble Tamble" next. It is a MUST. Many other people have suggested it.
I love you both your sincere honest reactions make me so happy But CCR are from El Cerritio Ca Thats up in the northern cali san francisco bay area. Lodi is a farm town not to far from where they grew up. I can't wait to hear more of your reactions!!!
I live in Lodi California we’re famous for this song. And being the birth place of A&W root beer
Lodi is one of my favorite CCR songs. Fun fact: CCR was the 2nd most popular bands right behind the Beatles. The day CCR was to play (or maybe the day before) Sir Alber Hall in London, the Beatles broke up, leaving CCR #1.
Creedence una de las mejores bandas de rock de todos los tiempos, top 10 definitivamente.
I'd love to watch the girls first listening to "Outside My Back Door".

Back when I was little, traveling from California to Oklahoma are car broke down in Lodi, lol
What's really interesting about this song is that he's stuck in Lodi AGAIN. This means it's not the first time he's been stuck in Lodi. This brings up at least 3 questions: How many times has he been stuck in Lodi? Why does he keep getting stuck in Lodi. Will these questions ever be answered?

In 1966, garage bands were all the rage in the San Francisco Bay Area. Every kid who saw the Beatles took up a musical instrument and wanted to be in a band. My band played a Battle of the Bands at the National Guard Armory in Concord, CA. We shared the stage that night with a band from Berkeley called The Golliwogs. The band cut an album the following year. When their manager showed them the new album cover, their leader asked, '"Those are our songs, but who is 'Creedance Clearwater Revival'?". Their manager changed the name of their band without them knowing it. The rest is history
@love-vy1ry
10 ай бұрын
Your a bit wrong, it was the name Golliwogs they had to carry without knowing that. John, Doug, Tom & Stu hated that name.. When they started to become totally professionel musicians somewhere around end of 1966/1967 and John was taken over they wanted a new name. Saul Zaents (director Fantasy CCR's record label) suggested they would bring in 5 group names like he would do. A week later Creedence Clearwater Revival was born...stood on the CCR-list. I think it was the only victory the CCR-boys ever made against Saul.....without a lawsuit......
@love-vy1ry

By the way, your story is very interesting for many CCR die-hards...you remember them playing still? As the Golliwogs?
John Fogerty did an album like you're talking about: duets with other artists. It was fairly recent, like in the last 15 years or so. (Yes, when you are about to turn 59, 15 years is 'fairly recent'. :) ) The album is called Wrote a Song For Everyone. Every song, John pairs up with another big artist for CCR song or a Fogerty solo song. Other artists on the album include Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Bob Segar, David Grohl of the Foo Fighters, Miranda Lambert, Alan Jackson, and more. When I bought the CD, I popped it in without looking at the liner notes and played Guess the Guest Artist. That was a lot of fun!
It's always a good day for CCR!
Bands like CCR and Toto are a sure thing, its always good (no matter what mood you're in)
This was another one of those super huge Canadian bar songs in '71 and '72. You couldn't escape this song no matter which bar you went to for a beer.
You need to play Keep On Chooglin'… that shows the band real capabilities

I attended San Jose State in the late 60's and early 70's. There was a roadhouse/biker bar up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, outside of Los Gatos. I think the name was Chateau Liberte or Liberty, something like that. We would go up there on occasion and I remember seeing QMS play there. The Doobie Brothers would also have gigs there. Those were good times.
This song was almost as popular on country stations as it was on rock radio.
Cosmos Factory and Green River are my favorite Albums by CCR, so good
Someday never comes and long as i can see the light are 2 of my favorites
Back in the early 70s, when this song came out, Lodi California band this song. Lodi is in the Central Valley due East from the Bay Area. BTW CCR is from the Bay Area, near Oakland.

Oh another great one!!!!! Love all of Johns songs and sounds!!! No one else sounds like him!!!! You know by the first note who it is!!!
Love CCR! My first concert in 1970 was a triple bill in Shreveport LA...Bo Diddley, Canned Heat and the headliner, Credence Clearwater Revival. What a show!

“Keep on Chooglin’” is a jamming mix of harmonica and guitar solos along with some screaming lyrics. One of my favorites
Hey guys! Based upon your comment about bands doing collaborations, I suggest checking out The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” which features Eric Clapton and Cream’s “Badge” which features George Harrison. Both songs, but particularly “Badge” sound like they feature the entirety of both bands and Paul McCartney has even made comments about The Beatles having played with Ginger Baker, but officially, it is only listed as Clapton/Harrison crossovers.
Low - Die (Lodi, San Joaquin Valley, California)
Love this song! One of my favorite CCR songs! Also, yiu will love Who Stopped the Rain
Great CCR Classic! Great Choice & Reaction, You Guys! :)
..."Class of 76"...Credence Clearwater Revival, you can never go wrong!
CCR remains my favorite American band - thank you for reacting to them 🙂 Other CCR songs that I haven't seen you react to yet are "Who'll Stop the Rain" (You reacted to their other 'rain' song Have You Ever Seen the Rain), "Up Around the Bend", and the previously recommended "Ramble Tamble" -- an epic psychedelic guitar journey with the unmistakable CCR stamp. There are so many other CCR songs you've yet to discover that I can't think of right now. And you'll love John Fogerty's later solo piece "Don't You Wish It Was True". I love your genuine & positive spirits!
Lodi is an all time CLASSIC!!!
Down on the Corner should be your next CCR reaction. ❤
This one shows Buck Owens Influence on Fogerty. Both on guitar and vocals,
I remember dancing to this band in 1966 in a small bar. I was 19. This music is In my blood... BTW I'm a Canadian..
John Fogerty is from Northern California and Lodi is about about an hour and a half from where he grew up, El Cerrito, CA.
Their cover of I PUT A SPELL ON YOU, full version, is Amazing!
Another great Creedence song. John writes great story songs. One that will definitely put a smile on your faces is It Came Out Of The Sky. For solo songs listen to A Hundred And Ten In The Shade. You will feel it.
Love that St. Louis hat!!!!! You need to play CCR's Sweet Hitch-hiker.
Always love to hear CCR! So easy to sing along to all their great music! Lol, yeah they are a California band.
Well if Your fav is looking out my back door you will LOVE “ Down on the corner “. This group was my favorite growing up.
This is one of the first CCR songs that grabbed my attention. Still love it, but how can one not? All they do is gold.
Next: Travelin Band. Might be their rockinest tune!
Great song to react to! I’m 41 and have been a old rock, hard rock and blues listener since the late 80’s when my dad would play his cassette tapes. I listen to all types of music but I hold those genres closer because whenever I was with my dad in the truck that’s all he would listen to 😊
How could anyone not love CCR? ❤❤❤
Creedence is perfect driving music, whether it's a country drive...or highway. It's a jam.
This has long been my fave Credence song. As in since high in the 60s.
Smooth sound and a soulful voice, terrific!
When you think of that time, you always think of CCR. They were sooooo good. And John Fogarty's voice is immediately recognizable.
"Sweet Hitchhiker " rocks.
My all-time favorite.
Oh your timing is perfect! I was lucky enough to just have seen John on Friday night at our local 7 state fair here in Western Mass. He just regained the rights to his music catalog earlier this year so he was able to do alot from his CCR days. He is touring so if you get the chance i highly recommend checking him out on person!
Exquisite vocal melody. Master at work right there.
So many great songs by CCR - and such a short career!
Always been a favorite.
CCR had a song released in 1972 titled "Someday Never Comes" one of my favorites!
With all their fantastic songs, this one has to be number one in my heart. Love it! Thanks for doing this guys.
absolutely love this song and its in my top 5 of MANY CCR songs !
CCR were decades ahead of their time. A new young CCR today would take the world by storm.
I got my first record player for my bedroom in like 1975 when I was 13 or so. I swiped 2 albums from my cool stepdad... CCR's Greatest Hits, and Allman Brothers - Brothers & Sisters. It's like they created roots rock, and blues rock respectively. My mom bought me an Elvis songs from his movies album off TV. And so it began...
30 years ago I met a guy from Lodi in Sulawesi and he told me what this song is about and he could feel exactly what Fogerty was singing about :D
'Long as i can see the light' fantastic✌
My dad was born in Lodi, New Jersey, and he really enjoyed this song (although it was about Lodi, CA, which he knew as well...). CCR's songs were all great.
Tom Jones did a fantastic cover of this on his TV show from the 60/70's. Even get a little bit of his crazy dancing as well. Search YT & you will find it. Quality may not be the greatest, but audio of it is not bad. FYI in case you didn't know, Tom had 3 of his own TV shows in his lifetime. ❤
YAY!!! It is pronounced "Low die" Lodi is a smallish farming community about an hour north of Sacramento on Hwy 99... I would give you 5 thumbs up for finally finding this hidden gem... They were hippies from the East Bay of the San Fran region. They are ūber talented musicians who masterfully incorporated different sounds of folky rock from all over this country. I saw a comment that CCR doesn't have a bad song. To me Lodi hits me square in the gut. I have been a "gypsy" my entire life. Growing up an Air Force brat moving back and forth to West Germany 3 times. I have lived in 11 different states since I left the Marine Corps in 1990. Every move felt so promising but always seemed to end up in "time to move on" or be stuck in a bad situation... Thank you for recognizing this great song😊😊😊
From a Brit,my second favourite American band (just behind Steely Dan for me) and boy,do they sound American. Love them.
Cotton Fields is my favorite song by CCR. My mom would rock me in her rocking chair and sing this song to me when I was a baby.
