Oh nobody else has reacted to these two classic hip hop videos from 1991: Son of Bazerk “Change The Style” Son of Bazerk “The Band Gets Swivey On The Wheels” Trust me, you’ll be glad you checked it out. Produced by the Bomb Squad (Public Enemy), and with a foot in old funk and soul, it’s totally creative insanity
35 years later the beats are still next level.

@Swenglish

@@wfinch1138 You're technically right, TCP/IP was indeed established earlier (and the word "internet" had been used in other, more generic contexts even long before that, going back to the telegraph), but the World Wide Web was invented in 1989 (same year this came out), opened to the public in 1990, and the Web protocol went royalty free in 1993. So while the Internet existed in some form earlier, 1993 is a significant year for the birth of what we now know as the Internet. It was kind of a process, but you're technically right.
I love the way you love the Beastie Boys. People can't understand how dope that crew was. Paul's Boutique took us all by surprise back then.

One of my fav bboys songs, just feels GOOD
I used to think Beastie Boys were just frat-rap-rock just from the heavy rotation "Fight for Your Right" got on MTV. It's only in the last few years I've come to appreciate just how ground breaking, nay, earth shattering they were. I just feel lucky I got to the point where I appreciate the sheer craft on display.

Pauls Boutique is probably my favourite Beasties album ... it's got to be their best rapping They were notorious during this era for spending all their money on "toys" be it ping pong tables or home cinema projectors or macked out Lincoln Continentals... and then you see Mike D playing a Sega Genesis (!) It's the only thing that really DATES the album!

Album was produced by a duo known as The Dust Brothers. Everything they produced is worth checking out at least once. Just be aware another band now known as The Chemical Brothers released several works as The Dust Brothers before signing to a US label and having to change their name so if you find something that feels like it doesn't fit it's probably them.

High Plains Drifter by Beasties is fire 🔥
You’re the best at this; you totally get their humor and goofiness. Being themselves instead of trying hard to be something else makes them super relatable. It’s like you’re watching your friends act a fool. And since there kind people to boot, it’s just easy to appreciate where the creative nonsense meets the talent and dedication.

when they came to Australia (check your head tour 1992 ) I won a comp on a local radio station for tickets to their first live gig in Brisbane at the Metropolis tavern and I think there were only about 150 ppl there. It changed my life .. got to meet them :) although they warned us if we kept speaker diving ( diving off the speaker stacks into the front row) they might quit .. what a fukn night it was.. Ty Beasties
This is the best example of an almost infinite B-Boys playlist.. I was 18 when this broke and was like 🤯🤯. I wish I could hear these bangers for the first time again. Glad the next generation can appreciate their genius.

The way this song switches up, often, is like a small sample of the entire album (Paul's Boutique). That whole album is like a complex symphony of rap. The song at the end "b‐boy bouillabaisse" is a like a 12 minute album in itself...it has at least 6 songs: a variety of styles and vibes, in the one song.

Hey Stax, I thought I'd drop off another suggestion for the BB, if interested. "Beastie Boys - (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) (Official Music Video)" (by the channel: Beastie Boys) --This song was released as their fourth single from their debut album called "License To III" and was released in 1986. The song was written by Adam Yauch and band friend, Tom "Tommy" "Triphammer" Cushman. This album was the first rap LP to ever top the billboard album charts, and Rolling Stone counts it as one of the best albums ever made. As always I enjoyed rocking with you and thanks for sharing.

Dude, all I can think of is the John Mayer Dave Chappelle/Roots skit on different cultures reacting to music you should react to it. anyone who knows.. you know. "You're not gonna do that to me, the guitar and the drums..." LOL
The reason the Beastie's didn't care what others thought is they were blazin the trail everyone else was playin catch up. There might have been some rappers that were as clean and sick, but not also with those sick tracks and beats. They just did everything. They were just incredibly natural, organic, and just sick sick sick backing tracks and beats.

Just as Rakim changed the phrasing and flow with the Follow the leader album for rappers, Dj Hurricane and the Beasties changes the game for sampling with Pauls Boutique. Not saying the Beasties are the best ever but this album is an extremely important part of rap history. As a 52 year old who grew up in the very early stages of hip hop it does my heart good to see the younger generations finding this music. And if your not aware i recommend you check out Eric B and Rakim. Follow the Leader album is their best work in my opinion.
