On a stage with a 🎤 in her hand is Angelina's second home; comfortable and free to just let her TALENT and vocal aspirations SOAR, and we soar with her, joyously enchanted by her total commitment to what she wants... To be a SUPERSTAR... Singing for her is as natural as breathing; she did not arrange this Billie Holiday classic, but I think Billie would've been in the wings next to Mamma teary eyed and SO proud that this Child, this Prodigy, performed it so beautifully!!! I think you, Polo, have a "spell on you" ... A "spell" better known as Angelina Jordan 🤗😀. Great reaction!!!

To absolutely out jazz Billy Holiday with her own song is insane. Doing at 7 yrs old is absolutely inexplicable. How does a child get that much natural feeling? Where could it possibly come from? She is just out of this world.

My friend, that was her official beginning. The world began to take notice after that performance. If you'll notice she was singing barefoot. She had made that commitment a year earlier. I'm guessing you know the story. If you ask us to tell you the story we will. Yes, besides her incredible soulful voice along with that rasp, her poise and confidence on stage was out of this world. Hmmm. Out of this world. :)

Lovely reaction. Just lovely. Your speaking voice soothes. Your face reflects your heart when you listen to Angelina, and I see and hear my own heart in your face and words. I always want to hear everything Angelina sings repeatedly, and I can't say that for many voices. Many of the voice coaches have said her lower register is very unusual in a girl that young. Thank you for taking your time to do the reaction. I've branched out to some of your other reactions, too, but I'm really here for Ms. Angelina Jordan. May she live long and die happy and at peace,.

According to Elmar Winkler Sir, Norwegian commenters told me, that after winning Norway GotTalent 2014 at age of 8 (youngest ever) only about 2 months later Angelina Jordan Astar was declared "National Treasure of Norway" by the people, the government and the Royal Family of Norway. The Scandinavians love her dearly and adore her for her humble persona. Today musicians and artists around the world highly respect her. The Band Queen applauded her for her version of "Bohemian Rhapsodie", Sir Elton John thanked her for her interpretation of his "Yellow Brick Road", Mr. Marc Ronsond send her a original Tape of one of his hits to cover, the last surviving member of the Mammas and the Papas thanked her for interpreting their world hit "california Dreaming", you get the drift. So sir, You and yours please stay and healthy in this troubling times. German greetings. Angelina's performances on NGT are incredible. Her talent and progressively incredible improvement in the perfection of her voice over those performances was simply mind-blowing. It culminated in what I believe was her first 'Master Class' Masterpiece performance. 'Summertime' which was surreal and etherial in some places. Angelina loves to sing & loves to be on stage. I sensed only a little nervousness in her 1st performance of 'Gloomy Sunday' and have never seen it since. ♥👣 “When I sing I go to another world. The world is endless. It's like, full of happiness. I love it. It's amazing. And when I am on stage, I don't want to go [leave the stage]. [laughing]. I just want to be on stage" A snippet of Skaylan’s interview of Angelina Jordan (age 12) on Norwegian TV - November 2018 You can see her enter that world in 'Summertime' and she pulls us immediately into it with her. There is only one Angelina! ♥👣 Gloomy Sunday. Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " David Fehlman In a interview after this performance Angelina's mom was asked why she was crying during her performance?? Were they happy tears?? Mom said; " They were happy tears but they were also sad tears because I know I just lost my daughter to the world at that point in time, Please do this reaction to one of her BEST at 8 yrs old. ♥👣 I looked and did not see one of her best. IMO. My Favorite at 8 yrs old, What a Difference a Day Makes. ♥👣 With subtitles. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lax4mNRrg9mdg7A.html My Favorite. Singapore TV 9 yrs old kzread.info/dash/bejne/p4t7xJulcbKTprg.html Later performance. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaGpy9WMo82qh7g.html 10 yr old with interview on Little Big Shots UK. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lnlmmK5xZtHWaaQ.html My Favorite at this age. Absolutely beautiful. It sounds so much like the way Dinah Washington sang it that it's not easy to tell them apart. Thanks for the wonderful reaction, Polo. For her to sing is natural as breathing, she needs no preparation or reflection before singing and she comes so easy it seems unreal. He was so young, in his first public appearances (she obviously she chooses a song perfectly suitable for a 7 year old 😂), yet she was already of a professionalism and ability to convey incredible emotions, at the time this performance and has been replicated all over the world, by newspapers and television channels and had received more than 5 million of views. I've seen this video hundreds of times, yet she always thrills me. 🧡 🧡 ❤️

Many great female jazz vocalists died, or passed on prior to Angelina’s birth in 2007, including Ella Fitzgerald who died in 1996, Billie Holiday passed away in 1959 and singer Nina Simone who was also a political activist died in 2003…(See info about Angelina giving her shoes to barefoot street kid in someplace like India.)🌷💐🌷🌸🌷🌼🌷

Hi Polo. Thanks for the great reaction. Billie Holiday was a lady. What I find most stunning in Angelina's covers round this age is her timing. Usually at this age, kids tend to rush things out and get it done with as fast as possible. She doesn't do that. And that's a sign of maturity in her singing at this very young age.

Original song from 1933...referred to as the Hungarian Suicide song. Billy Holiday (very famous Jazz singer SHE is a famous Jazz singer) made this song famous in 1941. Billy Holiday is a huge influence in Angelina's life from an early age, hence the superior jazz vocals from her. This is simply an epic performance of this song...and if you were to listen to Billie's rendition of this song from 1941 you would see just how beautifully Angelina sung this song at 7 years old...

Later, in AGT Champions at age 13, she upset some people by claiming she won this contest at age 7, when at least the final 2 songs were done when she was 8. I think she was just being honest and knew she had already won this contest with this performance.

She was 7 when she made her first appearance and 8 when she won. Her later version of Summer Time with a full orchestra at Kork is not in her usual Ella vibe, but in her own fashion yet the music is played in the Gershwin Style.... No we all get chills...and she already has the judges crying...no it was done in the original style. However her Homage to Screaming Jay Hawkins was her arrangement. You see her making notes for the music director and him chuckle when reading it.

Be sure to check out the Billie Holiday version. It makes this performance even more special. Billie Holiday's story is a sad one. She died at 44, from cirrhosis of the liver. And general substance abuse. And other personal problems. She had a strong influence on jazz, with her phrasing and timing. A legend. R.I.P.

She did a paid online show last xmas (a real treat) and she'll be doing live concerts in Norway in the summer. I'm pretty sure she'll be doing a live show in the US somewhere in the future. She's living in LA after all, so that it would only make sense at least to do a small club show.

this was her initial audition for the show. her next song was "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU", which she sang acapella. do you know how hard it is to carry a tune without music to help keep your rhythm ?! follow her whole journey on this show. her next song she is on stage with a bunch of other contestants her age and up. the song after that, i believe is "BANG BANG" and then her finale song is "SUMMERTIME". there is a seperate video of her rehearsing her finale song in a room with a trumpet player and the musical director. they are trying to figure out the opening to the song. Angelina had to show the trumpet player what note she wanted, and she did it with her mouth, not the trumpet. then when the finale song starts you hear the trumpet player play those notes. Angelina arranges all her music when the music is live. notice how you see she is barefoot. Angelina always sings barefoot because of a young girl she met a few years earlier while on vacation. the young girl who was her age was homeless and didnt have shoes. Angelina took her shoes off and gave them to the girl. then she told her family that she would always perform barefoot as long as their are children in the world who dont have shoes.

My favorite moment in this whole thing is after she has sung, when she responds to Omer's "Angelina?". The way she says, "Yes?", sounds to me like, "Yes? How can I help you?". She is *so* "present", as they say - so *not* overwhelmed by what's happening. It's really kind of incredible. She just did something that she had been wanting to do (and preparing to do, in various ways) for _years_ , and she absolutely _killed_ it, and within _seconds_ she is entirely focused on beginning a conversation with Omer. It says a lot, I think, about how she was able to become such a good singer at such a young age. She has been laser-focused on becoming a "superstar" who could "sing for the whole world" at least since she was 6 (if not years before that, given that she expressed the desire to sing for Simon Cowell on one of his shows when she was 3). I have this scenario that plays out in my mind - not based on any actual details that I've read or heard about her, mind you - where she tells her parents that she wants to be a superstar singer, and they say that she can do anything she puts her mind to; but this just annoys her, and she brushes away their platitudes, saying, "No, I need to know _exactly_ how I can make this happen." 😄 Anyway… this experience on NGT was just another step in that process, and she clearly was not intimidated in the least by the situation. People talk about her "confidence" here (and basically in everything else she's ever done). I see it as more than confidence: it's _comfort_ . She is _comfortable_ on that stage, because she knows she _belongs_ on that stage.

My God, how she sounds like Billie Holliday when she was a child! Uncanny, how she captured this Billie's sound.

In an interview, Angelina's mother, Sara, said that when she was watching the monitor backstage and crying was when she realized she was going to have to share her daughter with the world.

I believe Billie Holliday was a woman, a well-known jazz singer. Angelina grew up listening to her grandmother’s collection of jazz music. She has said that she never gets nervous onstage. She loves to sing and is in her element while performing. She also said from a child that she wanted to sing for all the people of the world.

I saw this on the original tv-show. I was shocked. Hit me, and most of the audience, right in the feels. If i say goodbumps, i am understating the impact hugely. She is a natural talent i have never seen or heard the equipment of ever.

I love your reaction throughout. Angelina was initially inspired by Billie Holiday. For me, it is therefore with additional amazement and awe that it was the only right and logical decision for her to pay tribute to Billie Holiday with her first public appearance. I find this to be a truly breathtaking sign of awareness, sense of gratitude and consequence that she ALWAYS displays, but that was FULLY present even at that age.

This was called the suicide song because it is about someone who has lost the love of their life, that's when she says about the thought of joining you, or the hours are numberless, look for the lyrics and Billie Holiday is brilliant

Hi Polo, awesome reaction & I like your comments too. (What Angie said about “Gloomy Sunday” choice) “The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but “Gloomy Sunday “ was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad, where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song “Gloomy Sunday” that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song.” (Sara, Angie's mom was asked what she thought when she saw her on the screen backstage, (she was wiping her tears .when watching) “I knew I had just lost my little girl to the world”) The family has always been very close & since that even more protective of her from the entertainment industry’s vultures & hyena's. From TIME magazine This 7-Year Old's Incredible Voice Will Give You Chills as She Channels Billie Holiday BY MELISSA LOCKER MARCH 10, 2014 11:59 AM EDT A 7-year-old girl managed to absolutely wow the judges on a televised talent show with her spot-on rendition of Billy Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.” The youngster, Angelina Jordan, appeared on the stage of “Norway’s Got Talent”, barefoot and in a white dress, and announced that she would be be singing Holiday’s dark jazz standard. The skeptical judges were blown away from the moment she started singing. Please react to this awesome next from Angie. “Lovin' You” - Proysenfestivalen 21.07.2017 kzread.info/dash/bejne/i2iLssSmmsq7l5c.html Angie’s (11) from “Just Want To Make Love To You” originally written by Willie Dixon 1954 & covered by Muddy Waters & a lot of other big name blues singers also. Angie changed the lyrics & made it more age appropriate & also made it really awesome a bit modern style blues with a nostalgic feel also. You'll she’s opening her concert with this song.

while listening to Angelina sing this song, you are pretty much hearing Billie Holiday !!! only difference is the tone of their voices. still very close. Miss Billie Holiday was very well known. she was a tortured soul whos pain was felt in her songs.

This song has a very colourful history. Dubbed the Hungarian Suicide song it may seem strange for AJ to choose it. I’d lay a bet on her knowing, even at the age of 7, a great deal more about it than ‘A sad Sunday’. She did one other performance of this song as a background sound track on a tv black comedy series. It’s on my channel if you’re interested.

This is a great rendition, and amazing for a 7-yr-old, but Billie Holiday's version MUST be heard. I'm guessing that each of Angelina's fans has a performance of hers that we point to as the one where she surpasses the pros: for me it's her cover of I Put A Spell On You, the one in the black & white video. I think Angelina herself would point you to Billie and say, "She sang my favorite version."

Great reaction! I have a couple of suggestions for you. First, google the lyrics. "Gloomy Sunday" is often referred to as the Hungarian suicide song, so you really need to know what the song is about. Next, listen to the Billie Holiday version. Angelina has the voice of a child, but she absolutely nails Billie's phrasing and emotion. I'm not saying this as a criticism. If you do those two things, you'll understand how phenominal this performance was. Thanks for a great reaction.

Cordialement. Hélène
