At the beginning of the video, she is writing her own arrangement and is holding a glass with the picture of Steve Jay Hawkins who is the original singer and song writer of this piece. There is another video of her at the same age in which she is rehearsing a song called 'A Portrait of a Man' by the same songwriter. The musicians call her 'the boss' because she is in total control. Angelina is a child prodigy who won Norway's Got Talent in 2014 at age 7. She grew up listening to old jazz and blues artists like Billy Holiday, Edda James & Frank Sinatra. Because of her low register and knowledge of jazz there are videos of her singing Elvis Presley, Lionel Richie, Whitney Houston, Amy Whitehouse, Adele etc. Angelina has written original songs called 7th Heaven and Million Miles. She signed a record deal at age 14 with Republic Records. She is seventeen now and can be seen on Tik Tok.

Screaming Jay Hawkins wrote and sung this song for the first time in 1956. Shock rock, shock blues, whatever, he was the originator. Homage is paid to him in the video as his portrait is seen in the candle holder. Angelina makes her own arrangements and is known by all around her as "The Boss." She wears no shoes because when she was six years old, she came across a child her age on the streets with no shoes. She gave her her own shoes and vowed to never wear shoes while singing on stage until all children had shoes to wear. She has raised millions for charities. She is a gift to the world. That's the plan!

Angelina wrote an incredibly emotional song called "Million Miles" in memory of her beloved grandfather who had just passed away (at that time). She was 13/14 years old. She recorded it later as her first single for her new label, Republic Records. Do a reaction to the black and white live studio version. It is one of three companion videos. The others are the actual official Republic video music release and a lyrics version. I highly recommend doing a reaction to the lyrics version second. It is the same recording as the official version but has graphics done by her grandmother, a noteworthy Iranian artist. With these videos, she has produced a quite stunning beginning of her career with Republic. Also, the pianist in the live studio video is a very high up Republic executive. Angelina commented that when she was in the studio doing the song she cried throughout the session. You can hear and see the pain she feels for her loss when you watch the live studio set. She said she wanted the song to be for anyone that had such a loss. With consideration to that background to her song, you will get as emotional as she was when she recorded it. She has this magical vocal power that draws you into this other dimension. She has always put her soul and emotions into her works. She arranges most all her music, as she has been doing since she began performing over the past ten plus years.

She is an old soul and has been here before. Her beautiful soul shows in her voice.

The reason she has no shoes on when she is singing is that she met a poor little girl in Asia without proper shoes - or non at all, I think. She felt sorry for this girl and gave her her shoes. The poor girl thanked saying she would pray for her. This barefoot performance is in honor of, and in memory and empathy with the other girl. Says a lot of what kind of person Angelina is. Her grandmother - half iranian-japaneese, an artist and poet, wanted her to sing jazz, from she was little, also listening much to it, created her inspiration for that kind of music. Her father is Sweedish - but Angelina is born and raised in Oslo, Norway - also living for some time in USA, which I think she is doing now, because of her fame. From an other Norwegian. Very proud and a big fan. Giving all good wishes to the already big star.

Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

I got a chuckle out of your reaction because you have no idea what you are watching, she arranged and instructed the musicians how she wanted to perform the song, and at 9 years old, that makes her a first order prodigy like Mozart, now at 16 and signed with Republic Records, which at some time acquired Motown and other jazz labels, she is well on her way to becoming the Superstar she decided she wanted to be at 6 years old, which just so happens to be the same time she encountered a girl her own age with no shoes and gave her the shoes off her own feet, which is why she performs without shoes, the other girl said she would pray for Angelina’s success in becoming a superstar, and Angelina encouraged the girl not to give up on her dream of becoming a doctor. Yes, Angelina is a rare and unusual person, not only because of her age and huge talent. By the way, Angelina has helped to raise millions for children’s charities by her performances, including performing at the Nobel prize ceremony for Malala who was one of the youngest recipients for her activism for education of young girls. @@pa1189j Having heard this one so many times (a number that I am guessing is approaching 1000), I could hear the "off" in this in the first 3-4 beats. Then when she started singing it became pretty obvious. Just wanted to check with the audio expert to make sure I wasn't crazy ;)

Why does Angelina sing barefoot? When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond.

Well, 3 years later she performed James Brown's "Man's World" live on a outdoor concert with "Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps". That would to be a good start for more...

There are very few singers I follow after hearing her for the first time. She is the best singing artist I have ever heard, age makes no difference. Welcome to the Angels, and the rabbit hole.

On her candle is "Screaming Jay Hawkins" the writer of the song. Check him out---his voice is BIG. You can hear where Angelina brought her tone to the "screaming" parts. He died in 2000 at age 79 and Angelina was born in 2006. Like all those old folks on the other side decided to send back jazz, oddly in a white body with a voice that blesses people. And you are correct about her own spin---that paper was last minute notations for the band. She is known to often take a song and change it to fit her vision. And they are musically intelligent decisions, which impresses people. Thank you, Polo. For this reaction. It was this video that selaed me in to following her. BTW, she started singing at 18 months old.

You have to research into why she sings barefoot to understand that not only is she a modern day vocal Picasso as she can sing any genre; but she also has a great heart and she can take us on an emotional journey every time she sings.

she's only one year older here than when she sang Fly Me to the Moon on the View! I get goosebumps or tears or both all the time. Yes .. phenomenal band. She, by the way, wrote the arrangement for the whole band. On most of her covers she writes her own arrangements. Nina Simone is one of many fabulous singers of this song. "I'll Be There " is one of my favorites. Eight year old Angelina was quite sick at this charity event but refused to follow advice to not sing that night. She gave it her all and made up for her diminished voice with pure emotion and determination. She has a huge heart and proved that "She'll Be There" if she can help others.

You said it you hit the nail on the head, as far as reactions anything she does is good, no actually anything she does is supernatural, absolutely no exaggeration just pick anything she’s done hundreds of songs by dozens of different artists, she even has a few songs she wrote the lyrics and the tunes for. She’s covered Lana Del Rey, Adele, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, also Elvis Presley, Billie Holiday, And so many others. She was born January 10, 2006 and has been singing since she was a year and a half old and has done videos from six years old to 16 her present age. She appeared on Norway’s Got Talent at seven years old and won that show at eight. She’s been on America’s got talent singing three songs a queen song, an Elton John song, and one other song I think it was Someone you Loved. She has sang Roberta Flack and so many others. She has sang for Quincy Jones she even has about five or six of her own songs she has written lyrics and music to. She would be perfect for a new James Bond song theme. It is just my personal opinion but I believe she is the top female vocalist on the planet right now and she has the greatest versatility, they call her the Barefoot Princess and the girl with 1000 voices she can sound completely different from one song to another but always beautiful. One Angelina was six years old she came across another young child who was barefoot on the streets with a scale to weigh people for a few cents trying to survive and take care of her self and her siblings, this experience had A profound effect on Angelina and she has vowed never to wear shoes until all children have shoes to wear andthe little girl said she would pray for Angelina. Angelina has stayed loyal to that commitment all these years never appears with shoes on officially. She’s not only beautiful but a beautiful human being. PS. If you follow this extraordinary artist, you will end up liking jazz. At 10 her voice was pure magic, at 13 her maturity was amazing, now, at 16, it's perfection, it's scary to think what it will be like at 30. It's hard to advise which song to listen to, she has more than 150 published, and the last you listen, it will always seem the best. My advice, search among all her versions for the original author you like, she has covered innumerable classics, she also has several originals.
