This was just as beautiful as the first time I heard it many years ago and even more so with the addition of Home Free.

It was a stroke of genius to use just guitar without additional percussion. I love watching the shifting paintings behind them. This is on my daily playlist.

So beautiful. It's so amazing that Don asked them to collab on the rerecording of his (I think) two most iconic songs. They also backed him on the title track of his new album, American Boys. There's an audio only version on Don's channel. It's a bop.

This is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.

This was such a gorgeous song and I am privileged to have seen Vincent's original work of art and agree that the fade at the end of the song into the painting. And how the heck can you not love Rob's Voice??? I still miss your interaction but know that your year has been challenging in more ways than one. All I can say is sending you "good vibes" in hopes that things turn around. I really would love to see this channel be way more active with a lot more followers too. EOVC. :)

This is truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. I lived not far from his birthplace for a while. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻...... 💖 💖💖💖💖💖 Vincent's life was full of depression. I think his younger brother Theo was his greatest support. Vincent had a love/hate relationship with Paul Gauguin. When there were tensions between the two again, Vincent cut off his left ear. There is a painting of his ear being bandaged. At the age of 37, Vincent shot himself in the chest and died. A man with a sad life where he mainly made himself difficult. There is a mini series about Vincent which is very interesting to see.

Don McLean doesn't write lyrics - he puts poetry to music. And he still sounds terrific. Home Free are the perfect collaborators, they always ensure the guest artist is in the limelight and their harmonies & singing are perfectly suited to the material and the artists vision of it. No beatboxing in this - just Don McLean's guitar. Anything else would be gilding the lily. BTW, I so want a copy of the painting in which HF are literally absorbed at the end. That needs to be merch!

A song I have sung many times for the many songs penned by the troubadour Don McLean ..... they do a great job with it in total ..... glad to know the collaboration may be multiple renditions with Home Free. GBjj

You and the f*^*n' autotune. Give it a rest already. All I heard was natural vocals and the Don McLean bashing is ridiculous. The man is a legend, and has earned the right to not be nitpicked and questioned about his vocals.

@@momD612 ummm, I think they do based on what several voice expert reactors have said, but it's only fine tuning. Based on how they perform live it isn't a full correction, just a tweak.
