Great advice for new shooters. I see too many people come out and watch a match then they never come back and shoot. You guys showed how welcoming the shooting community is.

Just shot my first match. Very welcoming community, gave me a lot of advice and had great advice. Just as you said, very nervous leading up to my first round. Once my first shot was off I was fine. It's a great time and I did better than I expected. 5th out of 9 and did better each round.

I'm retired LE and going to start this. I see I will struggle on things like not standing in an "open doorway," when I load a magazine I always invert the gun to let gravity do its thing, we double taped everything. It will definitely be a learning experience for me. Unlearning techniques that have been second nature for a long time, 30+ years. I'll be eating a lot of humble pie for awhile. I'll be shooting iron sights until I get used to optics... crawl, walk, run. Great video guys.

Just stumbled across this channel. Great video! As an introvert, I absolutely loved that you mentioned the camaraderie that takes place during a shooting match or even in a squad. Shooting might seem like a daunting sport for a lot of people, but once you get to the range, you almost always meet the most supportive, humble and helpful guys. Keep up the good work man!

Dude. I had a chuckle at the “road to gm”, but you’re gonna be fine. It’s a serious rabbit hole, but you get to hang with some of the best people around-and not just the fast ones. The easiest, cheapest way to a competitive advantage is to learn the rules. Just sayin. Your closing description of what it’s like is spot on and good to hear. One of the very best parts of this sport is that once you’re doing it, it’s basically the same everywhere. Sign up, show up, and shoot!

Great video and very good gun handling. Your approach to your first match is right on. I have doing USPSA for 27 years and still enjoy it. You should check the rulebook that you can load on the USPSA App regarding magazine location relative your belt. From what I can see, the double mag pouches are not legal as they place the outer mag too far outward from your belt. I'm not criticizing you, I just don't want you to shoot for no score at a match for illegal equipment.

Good shooting …. Work on recoil control first , then trigger control, obviously safety is number 1, after you get your accuracy and trigger control then you can work on your movement…. Getting out of the pocket faster… coming into the target with your gun up already,,, transitions etc….
