When Amy was alive British comedians would make jokes about her alcohol and drug problems for a cheap laugh on national tv. Once she died they all looked stupid and rightfully so. Amy was a real talent, a rare talent, a person who comes along once in a life time. I'm glad you did a reaction for her and really appreciated her voice.

Amy was a star, unfortunately her husband distroyed her. Then her father pulled her out of rehab and put her back on tour, between anorexia, alcohol and heroin addiction she lost her life, her security guards failed to keep the dope away. So many people who should have been protecting her just collected the money and left her to crash and burn like a metior burning up as it fell to earth. She deserved so much better!

Sadly, Amy is a member of the 27 Club along with Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, and so many other fabulous musicians who died far too young at that age. She passed 9 years ago and a voice without compare was lost. There's a great movie about her life, called "Amy," that everyone should check out. When Amy was popular, I couldn’t stand her song “Rehab”. Instead of looking into her further I just spent years judging her by her beehive and dramatic makeup. (Not so much like me so not sure why) When I finally took the time to actually listen to her other music, I was floored. She was an absolute phenom. Incredible. I learned a good lesson. Many interpretations of what the phrase "Back to Black" meant....I took it as meaning that Amy went back into a sort of state of mourning and depression(Black being the color worn by people at funerals, especially the widow) after her boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil casually went back to the safety of a relationship with his ex-girlfriend, when Amy thought that they'd just had a bad falling out...She wore her heart on her sleeve and wrote the "Crude" second line out of sheer anger at him for leaving her when she thought that they'd just simply had another of the many rows that they had in their relationship. It's been suggested that he introduced her to heroin and this affected her in a bad way, although it was thought that she had kicked the habit by the time she died. She did stand by him when he was imprisoned and they did get married. The video to the song is all about a funeral and her wearing black and has over 500 Million views. Her friends and family all say she was quite a shy and sweet girl until she got involved into what turned out to be, ultimately, a toxic relationship. RIP Amy Winehouse.

WOW! I never really have listened to Amy... I heard part of a song awhile back, and said "huh, she is good"... but this REALLY impressed me big time! The fact that the sound just flows out of her like she's just breathing... her casual mastery of the quirky timing... and this is just a "coffee shop" setting, no effects (not even reverb), like she's singing at the subway station! Amazing, and what a sad loss! 😢💕

Lauren is straight up R&B, while Amy was pure jazz. The two genres can sound quite similar in many cases, though, so the connection/ comparison between Queen Lauren and Goddess Amy is certainly understandable. The way they both hit those runs too... I love Lauren to death and there is no denying her amazing talent, but I personally am drawn to the soul in Amy’s voice even more.

Back to Black does not reference heroin. The line, "you love blow (coke) and I love puff (weed)" showing the dichotomy of Blake and Amy. She was a polar opposite to him.

It was more than drugs. Amy had an undiagnosed mental illness called BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). It caused her to distance herself from the people who wanted to help. But Amy was an adult. You can't make a grown woman do anything she doesn't want to do. Not really.
