She grew up listening to that kind of music, singing along to her dads old records which just happened to be all the greats of that genre. So she automatically trained herself to sing In that way. A couple of decades practice. So don’t think that it is some kind of miracle. The harder you work the more talented you get. Also she was from the same town as me. But I left there a long time before she became famous. She was English, from North London. A lot of people think she was American because of how she sang.

She was a rare, special and unique talent both lyrically & vocally - her voice was pure and effortless - singing was like breathing for her. Amy was a once in a lifetime gift to us and I will always adore her. I remember when the news broke that she'd been found dead - I just couldn't stop crying for daaaays.....and I couldn't play her beautiful music for almost a year without breaking down into tears. She didn't even see herself as being that special, saying "I'm just a girl who sings".....I wish she was still with us. 💔 Beautiful Amy R.I.P. 💔 Please react to 'Rehab' or 'You know That I'm No Good' - classic, unapologetic Amy.

I have never heard anyone say that, but I'm always gonna think about it. "Valerie, come on over! You don't wanna go over there? Come on over here, because the way she's sangin' about you, you gotta be somethin!!"

I'm a huge Amy fan. But I only listen to songs from her early album "Frank", and her covers (like Valerie). Some of my favourites are "What is it about men", "Stronger than Me", and "I heard love is blind". Frank was a happy/cheeky/sassy album, and Amy was happy and healthy when writing, recording and performing those songs. After the first album, it was all downhill because she's started dating Blake. She thought they were soulmates, and had his name tattooed on her chest. He got her into heroin, dumped her for his ex, went to jail for assault. Amy channeled all this pain into her next cd: Back to Black. The songs laid bare her depression, loneliness, heartache and substance issues. Back to Black was popular in the US. Amy's managers forced her to perform her big hits like Rehab and Back to Black overseas. Amy didn't want to sing them for the crowds, but she's too sad (or substance affected) to perform. When performing these later songs, you can clearly see her sorrow while performing, or her tweaking/fidgeting.

i don't know how many times i've listened to this track, both unplugged and live on stage, and official video's, it never ceases to amaze, exactly the reason i love good music. there no one in years that can sing this good, goosebumps, hair on the neck, she just has it, and she does it so effortlessly. stunning. i prefer the unplugged, just pure.

R.I.P. sweet Amy 💔 Thank you for reacting to her amazing talent👏 She had that incredibly unique gift of being able to connect with those who were in pain - her lyrics, her music but combine that with her amazing voice and you have a LEGENDARY artist....gone far too soon....this world & fame was too much for her to cope with. She battled bulimia in her teens/20's, alcoholism/drug addiction in her 20's and the scumbag of a husband that destroyed her (‘Back To Black’ is about him).....he was so toxic, but tragically she paid the price for loving him. Singing was like breathing to Amy, but she didn't even think of herself as that special, saying "I'm just a girl who sings". Listen to ‘Love is A Losing Game’, ‘You know I'm No Good’, ‘Rehab’ and a couple of covers - ‘To Know Him Is To Love Him’ : kzread.info/dash/bejne/iaOcvM9qd9anf9o.html Donny Hathaway's 'I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know' - IMO one of her best live performances: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWpmrKOrpsunoco.html - mesmerising, haunting and such emotive vocals...basically what she did best. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤 Here’s the trailer to ‘Amy’ - a documentary of the highs and lows of her life and how it ended. Heart-breaking is an understatement: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWatpauwnbHbfKg.html
