I have two Amy stories to share. I met her when she was in her teens. She was singing at a charity fundraiser event I was working at. She wasn’t famous then and it was years later that a colleague told me it was her. Years later, I ended up living down the road from her in Camden Town, London. The morning she died I’d gone out for bread and milk and I saw all the emergency vehicles outside her house. I wondered what had happened but didn’t find it until I got back home and saw the news. Such a tragic story. She used to hang out in the pubs around Camden and was never stuck up with her fame. She treated everyone as a friend.

Amy had a lived-in voice, because she truly did live in it. My dad, an 80-something cynic, but lifelong jazz aficionado, heard her sing and stopped in his tracks. He doesn't even like singing, per se, and always said singing 'ruined' jazz. He had a few go-to singers he could rely on - Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, but there were very few. So, believe me, for him to say Amy Winehouse was a brilliant singer is a MAJOR event in my music-loving family. And he's right of course. She was indeed brilliant. And she's deeply missed by millions. ✌️❤️

_"He was no good"_ He was actually a really nice bloke, a bit mad, a bit unhinged, but really nice nonetheless, to be fair they both drifted into drugs around the same time, maybe he (Blake) got there a little earlier, maybe he was the wrong person for her to be involved with, but they both fucked up, not just him, not just Amy . . . . but it's a little too easy to blame him, they were both victims of drugs, Blake made it through, she didn't, those whole few years were fun, but ended messily, I had to kick Blake out of my house at one stage, nothing dramatic, he (and a friend) just invited themselves to stay for 'a night' and were still there weeks later . . . messy times, good bloke, didn't really know Amy, only met her a few times.

And yes sadly I have to agree knowing the circles I knew and know.it sadly did effect her earlier then we think and we shouldn't blame it all on Blake because yes they were both effected deeply for their own person reasons. It just so happened that I took her hard in that last moment and took such a beautiful young flower away from us. @@KindCountsDeb3773 You know what, she had given up booze for a while, what killed her was drinking the amount she used to be able to cope with. If you drink a lot and often, you can be accustomed to and able to cope with large amounts of alcohol. Of course that may kill you anyway. But if you've stopped for a while and then go back to your bingeing ways, it will apparently kill you dead, right away. So is this advice just getting alcoholics off the NHS waiting list? Are you really helping people? Or are you just reenacting Methodist principles - drink or die! If Amy had never been "treated" how long could she have lived? Surely several decades more?

R.I.P. sweet Amy 💔 she was burying her broken heart😢 The headstone read 'Here Lies The Heart Of Amy Winehouse', but it was removed after her sudden death. This song got me thru so many dark times.....she had that incredibly unique gift of being able to connect with those who were in pain - her lyrics, her music but combine that with her amazing voice and you have a LEGENDARY artist....gone far too soon....this world & fame was too much for her to cope with. She battled bulimia in her teens/20's, alcoholism/drug addiction in her 20's and the scumbag of a husband that destroyed her (‘Back To Black’ is about him).....he was so toxic, but tragically she paid the price for loving him. Listen to ‘Love is A Losing Game’, ‘You know I'm No Good’, ‘Rehab’ and a couple of covers - ‘To Know Him Is To Love Him’ or Hathaway's 'I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know' - kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWpmrKOrpsunoco.html mesmerising, haunting and such emotive vocals...basically what she did best. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤 Here’s the trailer to ‘Amy’ - a documentary of the highs and lows of her life and how it ended. Heart-breaking is an understatement: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWatpauwnbHbfKg.html

Many interpretations of what the phrase "Back to Black" meant....I took it as meaning that Amy went back into a sort of state of mourning and depression(Black being the color worn by people at funerals, especially the widow) after her boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil casually went back to the safety of a relationship with his ex-girlfriend, when Amy thought that they'd just had a bad falling out...She wore her heart on her sleeve and wrote the "Crude" second line out of sheer anger at him for leaving her when she thought that they'd just simply had another of the many rows that they had in their relationship. It's been suggested that he introduced her to heroin and this affected her in a bad way, although it was thought that she had kicked the habit by the time she died. She did stand by him when he was imprisoned and they did get married. The video to the song is all about a funeral and her wearing black and has over 500 Million views. Her friends and family all say she was quite a shy and sweet girl until she got involved into what turned out to be, ultimately, a toxic relationship. RIP Amy Winehouse.

so many better Bjork tracks than "its oh so quiet".....Joga, Isobel, Hyperballd, Bacherlorette, Venus as a Boy, Modern Things, Hunter... pretty much every other song she did in that period was (IMO) much better. It's oh so quiet was kind of gimmicky, it does not really illustrate her music very well, She is a varied artist, but when I think of Bjork and her sound...its not "Oh so quiet" that comes to mind, Just my opinion for what its worth maybe I am biased because that tune actually put me off her until I heard a lot of other tracks and realised it was not really her sound...the other stuff was, maybe Im projecting my own preferences
