ON my project, i have also an lcd i2c display. When i power supply the project from a external source, not from usb cable for arduino, the lcd display doesn't show any data. Just powers on the screen. Do you have any idea what could be the issue?

Square pad or red/pink marking on a flat cable means this is the first pin, and not ground pin, it haven't any standard for this, just do warn about this. Groud is easy to find with the ground plane on the PCB!

Thanks! This time, I was just lucky.

I dont know how nodeMcu could work with this fingerprint sensor. This fingerprint sensor uses TTL levels and NodeMcu works only with 3.3v. I think it needs a level converter to work properly.

my fingerprint sensor sometimes detect finger when there is no finger on it , how can i solve this issue ? is it wires/soldering issue ?

WARNING! - square pad usually means pin 1, not ground! You had a 50:50 chance and were lucky here.

Thanks! Didn't know that. But my stakes where high, because pin 1 is also GND in this case ;-)

Quick question. When connecting to the NodeMCU board, what pins are you using for the serial communication with the fingerprint sensor? What does that look like with regard to using SoftwareSerial?

With the SoftwareSerial library, you can use any digital pins on the NodeMcu.

I have the same one I was wondering mine was a bit different they want me to open html to get that program u have on ur screen can yall recommend me a way

How did you make the wires for the fingerprint sensor compatible for arduino? Sorry I'm new to this and am so confused on how you made it compatible

I soldered jumper cables to the flatband. Didn't I mentioned it?

Is the adafruit library compatible only with adafruit fingerprint?

I used a generic fingerprint sensor with the Adafruit library.

WHAT CAN I DO? The fingerprint sensor could not be initialized! Exception Message: The received packet do not begin with a valid header!

There is delete example in the library

but the esp has both 3.3 AND 5v rails

No. Usually the NodeMcu has only 3.3V outputs. Although it has one 5V input pin.
