Good to see it being used as intended. I solved my tickover issue with a fuel booster plug (who knows if it really works, but I convinced myself it did!). As for the tyre performance on white lines, you are dead right. When mine need replacing, I'll be choosing another brand for sure. Also - Winnats Pass - right again. Keep up the good work.

Great vid Richy and good to see someone doing some serious off-road on one, especially in N Derbys. I guess the stalling is because of the gearing? If you’re doing a lot of trail riding wouldn’t you prefer to gear it down a bit? And those tyres are actually neither here nor there for winter off roading in UK. I’d swap em for a more trailie set to deal with the mud. Loved that one......now go and get yourself a hot cup of tea! 😉👍

@@RichyVida do you find it a bit annoying that it's "always on", in the sense that you can't slip the clutch or blip the throttle to balance the bike? I never took mine off road but I found that an issue when commuting in traffic, I imagine it's much more of an issue off road.

Richy, when you recommend various passes on your travels, it would help us southerners if you could say “between x village and y town”. At least we would know where to head for, to find them. Cheers.

You only stalled it four times mate - and told us about one previous - so 5 in total. Japanese bike fan for more than forty years, throughout ALL of the "Rice Burner" and "Jap Crap" slurs (I was there) I am happy to say that I do indeed love the Triumph brand, and always have - but they STILL want to burn my leg and drop me in a puddle when the engine stops - off road. If I was to tell you that my 1969 Sandcast is dubbed "Soichiro San", you would know where my loyalties have always been (purdee close to yours I believe Rich ). Today I heard about summat called dual clutch transmission. Sounds a bit far fetched to me, but I bet Mr Soichiro (RIP) and his team will make it work. We'll see mate. We'll see 👀😘🤣

With the stalling, I can't tell, but I wonder if you got a bit of crap in the side stand switch and it was cutting rather than stalling? Not sure though, you'd know more by feel. But the tickover does sound low.

Yeah it's stalling, not cutting out. Had a lot of comments from owners saying the same. If you want to see me on Pindale Pass, you can watch me wrestle the big Africa Twin down it (bad idea). Search for "Getting Into A Spot Of Bother On The Africa Twin" on my channel ;-)

Again a good vid Richy,re the stalling issue it seems they all do it and the advice I was given is to keep blipping the throttle, keep a few revs on e.t.c. what a load of old pish, you shouldn't have to do that on a bike in this category at this price point, its let me down loads of times at lights, junctions, and in town traffic, its a real pain that's when its not cooking your right leg. All that said I like the bike but it's only OKish for me and a bit of fun on a Sunday morning as opposed to reading the paper. Still considering the Africa twin that will do it all without the bloody engine cutting out . I think Triumph need to address these exhaust and cutting out problems

I would not recommend relying on off road modes on a bike if you need technology to ride a bike off road stay on the tarmac I'm not saying you need it richy you are like me we started has kids on the bikes riding around in the muck keep safe out there

  • @RichyVida

Yeah good point. You should absolutely not rely on technology in any case. The reason I do switch into "off-road" modes when in the muck is to see how it performs differently. But yes, I agree. Relying on technology is only going to end in tears.
