I read that the 140bhp engine has a different turbo, a different head gasket, a different compression ratio, and the gearbox ratio is different as well, compared to the 100bhp.

@RR Continued I thought the same thing about mapping, but there is a lot more to it than just engine power, its how much torque the gearbox can handle as well, some maps can reduce the torque in certain gears, like first and 2nd and allow full power in the top gears, a bad power map and its goodbye gearbox, especially in the Ecoboost fiestas.

I am a 30 year ex ford tech / service manager. We saw our fair few of these on the slab and as you say Rob, poor maintenance is usually there downfall. Cooling is also an issue given it takes only a litre of coolant you have to keep on top of them, which is not always going to happen these days unfortunately. Focus were usually worse as had a different coolant pipe set up to the fiesta that blew which ford had a recall on but as many don't use main dealer for servicing were never changed and went pop! Good to see your method we never removed the front end took em out from the top. Cheers guys top job as ever. 👍

Great content again today guys, what a brilliant bit of dealing to get this car for, well nearly free! Great on the miles of the replacement engine and how nice to see SRUK’s consistency when it comes to doing the job properly. I have said it before, with the video evidence and peace of mind that gives about the work carried out, this should go for top money when completed. Really inspirational! Thanks both as always. Hi Rob and Chris , We had one of these go boom on us(only 28000 mile Focus) .Went down the similar route as you. On the servicing side of these ,a Ford tech mate of mine recommended using only the genuine Ford oil filter and oil. If we now get on of these Ford's with this engine fitted we go down this route . So far so good

I used to say that, 'days work' and often it can be but the little things just slow you down. Ford have always used stuff from 'the parts bin' some times things you don't expect. I know others makes share parts accross the range as well, it all helps keep costs down. I think it was wise to change as much as you could just for peace of mind. Nouthing worse than getting it all put together and finding something is different. Very interesting video, I will never tire of watching an engine swap Gents. Thanks Rob and Chris for another installment, we will see you soon.👍👍

I remember my own fiesta eco boost I had a ecoboost 100 titanium in midnight sky from new in 2014 the Zetec S was 125bhp not 140bhp it had a different head I believe and a turbocharger with overboost and maybe other minor variations The 140bhp engine came later on in the red and black edition which you have also had on channel It surprised me they were in the transit but I know they also did a non turbo 80bhp I believe

I hope this engine is a good one. I admire your handy work. usually they made more changes than just the mapping to from 125 bhp to 140 bhp. The cooling system was usually uprated & sometimes a new stronger head & pistons but not alway depends on the manufacturer.

Also have a look at the rear axle bushes as well rob. They rot like nothing on earth. I’ve had ones come in for their first mot 2nd mot absolutely no mileage on them and they start to deteriorate.put a pry bar in between the rear axle and the mounting bracket and have a lever. The rubber bush rots away from the alloy center. When they really go u can hear a bang from when u go over bumps and rough ground

IMO squeezing 140bhp out of a 3 cylinder 1.0L petrol engine was never going to end well especially with the 18,000 mile service interval, great on paper but not in real life, apparently the Transit is 100bhp so swapping everything was a really good shout

Oil pump drive belt will be shredded. I think they have to have a certain type of oil to prevent it from happening. I had 2 ecoboost focuses , not any issue with either . But they were both fully serviced at the Ford main dealership.

Loving the videos mine and my dad's engine was excatly the same in our astras but mine had ridiculous amount more power compared to his and it was due to the different gearbox. so might just work out same power as before never know 😅

Excellent video guys, inspirational watching both of you get on with it, hoping at least some of it might rub off on me and I can finish (okay, okay start) working on my rescue car before the axle stands get rusted onto the bodywork! 😂😂😂

Hello Rob and Chris, another great video. I saw a comment about informing the DVLA. Will the new engine number now not match the V5? Just saying as a retired Dectective, as the traffic guys were always checking engine numbers against the Police National Computer (PNC) looking for stolen bits. I’ve been retired six years so things might have changed. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged

What a result on that engine...right place, right time 👌🏻 At least you got the engine in within a day but hopefully it won't take too much buttoning up to have it running and out the door. It's amazing how much they tweak an engine over the life cycle but at least you'll have spares for further Ecoboosts that may wonder into the garage 😅
