Das Elfte Gebot -The eleventh commandment: Live today as if death awaits tomorrow. The song Memento Mori on then ew album is more or less a continuation of this topic. On the last album another song in a more serious vine like Das Elfte gebot ist "Im Bauch des Wals" - which is about ocean pollution and the effect on nature. The video was shot on the coast of Cornwall at the site of a ship wreck which was transporting tons of plastic garbage that of course ended up in the ocean.

This is my humble attempt to translate the lyrics. I tried to implement as much of the lyrical arrangement of the verses as possible and hope it doesn't sound to crude. I'm open for any kind of feedback or suggestions for improvement. My first exposure to Feuerschwanz was a couple of years ago with Operation Drachensturm. Although it is a studio track, the video is from a concert so it's nice to see them live on stage. Within the first minute, I knew I'd like this band since they seem to be having so much fun.

As the comment preceeding this one asserts correctly: this is about mortality and how to deal with it. Interestingly enough though the core idea here is that since death is the one remaining constant of truth it's commandment is to live to the maximum and it's written more like a begnin power that would like you to have no regrets at the point it enters the scene. Amusingly I've had a NDE with exactely this gist, but that's enough, it's off-topic🤣. Oh and there is one line in here that is pretty much the 1:1 translation of the most famous Lovecraft quote "That is not dead which can eternal lie [...]" and I feel it's a little bonus if you know that the other line of this couplet is "[...] and with strange aeons even death may die." Rewatching the video again with that knowledge, it's easy to see that life and death are dancing / fighting with each other. Inevitably, death wins.

Look up Malleus Maleficarum by Feuerschwanz. This is really great.

Reactions to songs from the older albums (anything before the 2020 "Das elfte Gebot" album) might get blocked though. That apparently happened to Tank when he reacted to "Schubsetanz", both on Twitch and then on his second KZread channel.

@@alaind6173 Searching through KZread a bit, I see that there *ARE* half a dozen reactions to the original music video of Schubsetanz (at kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIuM1bWwcbC5eKQ.html) here. So maybe the block was a Twitch thing which then transferred to KZread because it was a video of a Twitch stream? IDK ...
