If I'm correct the singer actually lost his father, and this is an ode to him. A beautiful one at that! I think what they try to symbolize is the son taking on the armor of his father, and carrying on his legacy in this way. Amazing tribute to dads regardless!
A wonderful tribute. This year is the 20th anniversary of my father's death and we still miss him dearly. I shed a few tears while listening. Dad, I will always carry you in my heart.
My favorite song on the album. Very moving for a Feuerschwanz song. Hauptmann is a funny guy but he's also a fantastic vocalist as well.
The English translation is pretty accurate. More than good enough to carry over the message. Came close to losing my old man a few months ago. Fortunately he pulled through and made an almost full recovery.
