Ferrari F333 SP - V12 N/A Formula One Engine inside a "Barchetta" body - OnBoard, Flat-Out & More!

I had the pleasure of filming this incredible Ferrari F333 SP, the famous Barchetta with its Naturally Aspirated V12 engine from Formula One single-seater. I'm at the Imola racetrack during the first edition of the Motor Legend Festival and the car belongs to the Antonelli Motorsport team. The legendary F333 SP was designed by Dallara and presented in 1993. Took the track the following year with the Ferrari intention to propose a competitive sportscar-prototype for all customers and was deployed in the IMSA championship. This car category, which saw Ferrari triumph for many years even with the latest 312PB was left by Ferrari in 1973 and 20 years later the factory decided to return again. The F333 SP combines best in every field, from the engine with a 650 hp ( F1-derived ) V12, chassis composed of a supporting frame, made of honeycomb structures and carbon-fibre and carbon-fibre body shape assembly by Michelotto cars in Padua, all for a weight of only 862 kg. The F333 SP was immediately competitive and for nearly a decade achieved success in the most important endurance racing, including the 24 Hours of Daytona (1998). The F333 SP Palmares speaks for itself, with 69 pole positions and 56 victories!

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa incredibile Ferrari F333 SP, la famosa Barchetta del cavallino dotata del motore V12 aspirato di Formula Uno. Ci troviamo all'autodromo di Imola durante la prima edizione del Motor Legend Festival e la vettura appartine al team Antonelli Motorsport. Praticamente sconosciuta in Europa fu progettata da Dallara e venne presentata nel 1993. Scese in pista l'anno dopo con l'intento della Ferrari di proporre una vettura sport-prototipo ai propri clienti e venne schierata nel campionato IMSA. Questa categoria di vetture, che vide la casa di Maranello trionfare per molti anni anche con l'ultima 312PB venne lasciata dalla Ferrari nel 1973 e ben 20 anni dopo riapparve con una nuova sport-prototipo, appunto la F333 SP. Questa vettura riunisce il meglio in ogni settore, dal motore V12 da 650 CV (di derivazione F1), telaio progettato da Dallara è un insieme di struttura honeycomb in alluminio e fibra di carbonio, la carrozzaria in fibra di carbonio assemblata presso la Michelotto Automobili di Padova, il tutto per un peso di soli 862 kg. Si rivelò subito competitiva e per quasi un decennio ottenne successi nelle più importanti competizioni di durata fra cui la 24 ore di Daytona (1998). Il suo palmares parla da solo, con 69 pole positions e 56 vittorie assolute!

Thanks, this is teamwork with my friends and KZreadrs Davide458Italia e 19bozzy92. The F333 SP is a car that I love so much and I hoped one day to be able to also have the onboard camera footage. That day arrived. What's even more beautiful is that the movies were made in the track of Imola, my favourite in Italy 😉👍

Man, with so many victories in favor of the F333 SP/333 SP, only God would know the amount of victories the F50 GT (an even faster race car) would've brought in its own category, even after the potential amount of nerfs Porsche would've imposed to stand a chance, had Ferrari allowed it to race back then...

@@Italiansupercarvideo Absolutely. My only way in to engines was aircraft. Our engine shop made engines that sounded better than any others by far. Mismanagement killed it. I hope that doesn't happen at Ferrari. Damn that sounded good!

@@upsidedowndog1256 I believe that unfortunately and inexorably this beautiful sound will be increasingly rare, even in motorsport, factories are moving on small engines with 4 or 6 cylinders with turbo, totally the opposite of this beautiful naturally aspirated v12 engine

oh that was so great. made my day. never heard of this car model until now. looks like a blast to drive., really fun looking track too. i wonder if the new ferrari car promo videos are based on this model?

In my opinion this is the queen of all Barchetta racing cars, developed by Ferrari with a Formula One naturally aspirated V12 engine, I think there's no better barchetta😉 Th F333 SP raced and won for many years in the American IMSA championship, which is why it's not well known ouside that continent.

I'm confused. In the Technical Specs at the beginning of the video it says the car has a carbon-fibre and aluminum honeycomb monocoque chassis. In your description above you say it has a "tubular chassis designed by Dallara." Can you clarify?

Yes Kevin, you're right, what I wrote in the description is not correct, now I fix it. What you see in the Technical Specs in the video is correct. The car body, like the Barchetta, was composed of a supporting frame, made of honeycomb structures and Carbon-fibre, and the body, made of carbon fibre and completely separable.

@@frankmarco7621 Quindi montava il Judd V8 aspirato? Credo che un differente motore fosse dovuto al fatto di abbassarne i costi di gestione. Però la F333 SP ha proprio nel V12 la sua particolarità e non sono favorevole a questi trapinati di "organi", pur essendo il Judd un signor motore.

Well, I must tell you that the driver had bought the car recently and I think this was one of his first track session on maybe the first ever with this car. That engine have more Hi-Rev ... Anyway, I think there's nothing better than having a Formula One 12-cylinder N/A engine 😉👍

Don't be drastic, Endurance WEC cars like the Porsche 919 Hybrid and Toyota TS020 are spectacular cars, technology and the future can integrate those cars and create superb motorsport masterpieces. I can understand however that the old school motorsport like this Ferrari F333 SP is a world apart and will remain in our hearts of enthusiasts
