In the Korean war, the North Koreans would first shoot the guy with two bars painted on his helmet, and then the guy with the red cross on his. That basically destroyed unit cohesion and put morale in the gutter since there was neither anyone to command them, nor anyone to administer morphine if they got shot. It was pretty much over at that point. Seems like things don't change much, except these it's not just young men getting shot. It's now middle aged men and young women too.

For your understanding, they are talking about, that they fight against not only infantry, but tanks, have multiple wounded comrades and are encircled - no way to evacuate. They stay put to continue fighting. Nobody run. They ask for support. As soon as they see the window of opportunity they evacuate.

The guy, who speaks calmly is commander, former movie-director Oleg Sentzov, who was political prisoner of Putin arrested in 2014 in Crimea and exchanged for some Russian criminals in 2019. He managed to shoot couple movies in the period between he was released and the big war started.

The sheer levels of courage exhibited by that woman and her comrades as they carried out their mission amidst utter chaos are beyond my comprehension. Imagining myself in a similar circumstance, I can't help but feel that I might succumb to freezing up or spiralling into immediate insanity

His carrier was put on hold when in 2014 he was captured by Russians in just occupied Crimea. He was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for fabricated cause of “planing terrorism”. He spent 5 years in Russian prison and came back due to exchange in 2019. After his return he shoot a movie, and after full scale invasion enlisted in the army. Currently he is 47yo, and hold’s position of a squad leader in the assault group. Real badass.

You're pretty naive to think you (or anyone in comment section) have any power to impact future or present conflicts. Do you still think this war is really about justice or righteousness? Or any war. It's about money and power, and not mine or yours. This "justice" narrative is always used by any side just to exploit the better in people. My takeaway from watching the whole video, beyond the incredible courage of the individual soldiers, is how high the morale of that unit is. The trust within the unit is clearly very high. That is a huge force multiplier, especially in tough situations like that in the video.

He tells all the other soldiers to make a run for it and save themselves.The leader whose a stereotypical bearded Ukrainian bad ass, calmly says something like "theres no where to run, were surrounded. we stay and fight" Seems to be edited out of this version unfortunately. Just imagine the thoughts going thru your head and how youd react in that situation. The emotions, loud constant gunfire, understanding the next hour might be the end. adrenaline pumping is an understatement.

The same women was berated by fellow Ukrainians for being hysterical on TikTok about the loss of life she witnessed... uncontrollable crying, saying masses of men had died. The 47th was the very same Brigade trained and equipped by the west and was considered the flagship brigade for what should be coming Putin's way. However, they got absolutely obliterated in Zaparozhia, losing upwards of 50 to 70% of their western supplied Bradley's. Whole platoons, being funnelled into minefields for months on end. Only to be told, now, were only going to drop you off and now you've got to take the defences on foot - they did this for 3 months and made minimal gains. I'm not trying to belittle these brave soldiers... I just think the blanket denial about the shape Ukraine's war effort is in is just astounding. They have lost mountains of men, mountains and there's 0 acknowledgement by the west or Ukraine itself and it's frightening, because once the pinnacle of manpower is surpassed and it's coming close to that now, the war starts favouring Russia and then, it snowballs. then its game over.
