Female Brown Belt Takes on White Belts During Specific Training

Hi Guys!
(The first few rolls I’m far away, but I move closer, so it gets better and easier to see!)
So, this week I decided to switch it up a little bit and film during Bobby's class. Bobby focuses on situational training for his beginner class to ensure they get to work from different positions maybe one wouldn't exactly get to especially as a white belt. If you guys enjoyed this type of video make sure you let me know, so I can film more like this!
I hope you guys enjoy it!
Xoxo,
Fallon

    White belts are basically the realest scenarios you can get to practice if you get attacked on the streets. So they’re great to train with. My favorite belt to train with are blue belts though. They still have that spunk but can hold their own with technique.

    I know absolutely NOTHING about BJJ. I’ve heard of it, but have no exposure to it, beyond what I’ve seen on KZread. I was a wrestler- freestyle and Greco-Roman, so I understand the rules, techniques and objectives of those styles of wrestling. When I watch this, I tend to view it through the prism of what I know, which caused a bit of confusion when I saw combatants laying on their backs; to me, a position of defeat/disadvantage. Then I noticed that submission is the goal(?), but since I don’t know the language, rules or techniques, I have no clue what’s happening until someone taps out. All-in-all, I find this quite interesting, from a grapplers POV. What are the practical applications of BJJ beyond sport and physical conditioning?

  • @orlandosbjj

    @orlandosbjj

    Жыл бұрын

    Practically, 3 things spring to mind. 1st, judo take-downs are heavily threaded into BJJ techniques - so strong take downs/ take down defence is a huge advantageous in the streets. 2nd, when you go to ground in a 1on1 fight (which happens very often), your ability to reverse the "laying on their backs" position and into a dominant top position is a fundamental advantage - watch any UFC 1-3 with Gracie and you'll see this is how he always wins even though he is smaller. 3rd, whether on back or on top, the BJJ range of attacks is unmatched even if not striking. But you add striking, and that is the reason why it's up there with wrestling in UFC champion backgrounds.

    Bhaha, not at all. I just enjoy relearning and perfecting the basics by taking my brothers beginner class. When I was a white belt I preferred rolling with higher belts because I really started to understand proper technique and Defense. Most Higher belts don’t really like going against white belts because that’s typically where higher belts get injured. So, I think they appreciate and get a lot out of me taking time to always roll with them. We both get better from it which is the ultimate goal. It doesn’t really matter about “getting beat up” every roll is a learning experience.

    As a wrestler and white belt, if you and I were to roll I'd give you 75% strength & speed and I would feel very cautious about my hand placement. The crouch chest and butt are completely off limit to me when rolling with a girl and between that and not using full speed and strength (I don't want to be the guy who hurts the girl, or uses his hand directly on the boob to block etc) that puts me at a complet disadvantage.

    Isn't that kinda defeating the purpose? By managing your strength you mean you're just letting yourself get beat. Sure, it's practice but if you never try to get a submission on her with your normal strength then it's not really a good practice for any of you. I understand not throwing women around and risking causing them a concussion but these white belts don't seem to even aim to submit her. They're just rolling and holding back their strength until they get caught.
