On October 14, Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a capsule held aloft by a balloon 39km (24 miles) up in the atmosphere and into the record books.
As well as being the first person to successfully jump from such a height, he also became the first human to fall faster than the speed of sound.
In his first interview on UK television since making the jump, he told the BBC's Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight how he felt before the jump looking down at the earth.
He said: "The view was totally outstanding and unique but at the same time you realised that everything around you is very hostile".
Mr Baumgartner joked that he now wanted to break the speed of light.
