In fallout 3, there was a part that you needed to go into a school, but the machines were hostile. BUT if you had low intelligence, I think picking the 'ice cream' option when it asks why you are here, makes it think that you were a special needs kid & would not be hostile to you.

Poor Ignacio Rivas. Imagine this hulking wastelander walking in, bedecked in heavy armour and strapped with a gun and/or enormous hammer that could annihilate you in an instant. You hesitantly but politely ask what he's here for when he lumbers up to you. His answer: a bone-chilling, monotone "I pet aminals." Terrifying Presence move over because I would run all the way east till I hit the sea.

I just love that the Courier’s brain can tilt inside it’s container and blow out smoke when it’s frustrated.

Interact with a drill sergeant sometime. They act angry with perfectly average 5 INT people, those are generally too shocked by the act. They act particularly angry with high INT, because they should know better And for low INT, they tend towards a patience with an edge of humor, often placing them in the care of more capable soldiers for coaching Dealing with knuckleheads is pretty much in the job description

Dean Domino is just vicious to low intelligence characters. Usanagi is kinda brutal too. Honestly I think Lt. Monroe is the funniest to not react, I’m kind of curious what his thoughts were the second he heard the courier speak like they’re 5 years old. Of course the fact Ignacio says that’s reassuring to the pizza line is too good as well.

Sometimes you forget this is 2 centuries after the apocalypse and that humanity has made strides to restore it self in some respects. That’s a great example of some good ol’ world building

Fallout in my opinion is classified as a Post-post Apocalypse game where humanity already rebuild civilization to the point that people don't really need to scrapes for food or water anymore. So things like universities, schools, institutions, ect, already existed with some qualified doctors and professors even by modern standard.

@@worlds3061 I by no means consider FO3's writing great, but I don't see it as contradictory to other games. Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland was bombed into oblivion, is plagued with raiders, slavers and super mutants, so the civilization there does not have much chances to pick itself up. Exploring the wasteland with rare solitary communities which are trying to pick up the pieces of the old world is a different mood compared to diving into FNV's boiling pot of factions and ideologies, and I respect and like FO3 for being that

Of all the ones that made me laugh, it was 2:46 and the literal Legion Snakes that got me the most, god damn. New Vegas was so good. It's funny to think more time has elapsed now from its release than between then and when Fallout 2 was released

I haven’t personally played any fallout but i’ve watched a playthrough of fallout 4 before, and all of these dialogue options are more earnest and thoughtful than more than half of the dialogue options even for intelligent protagonists in 4 LOL

the NV dialoge options can be a pain in the ass to navigate...but yes, they are definitely more rewarding I also love the fact that there are prostitutes advocating themself loudly in the streets and swears being used. It just adds so much to the atmosphere. Cant remember someone in FO4 even daring to swear onec

That's the difference between Obsidian and Bethesda. One is actually competent at writing. The other is just tripping their way through game development

​@@KuueenKumi the way I've always seen it is like this: Obsidian (at least before the outer worlds) felt like Fallout, dark but with a teeny bit of dark humor to accent all the depressing stuff. Bethesda basically took the "dark humor" part and flanderized it, like how 3, 4, and 76 feel like Disney versions of Fallout, with very loose definitions of "scary" or "dark humor". The recent art direction is even a good example, everything has to be bright and shiny, even when the game literally takes place 76 years after a great nuclear war. Bethesda seems to want a "hope for the future" theme as opposed to the original fallout theme of "basically everything is fucked, and humanity's urge to fight itself will always ultimately overtake and overshadow the legacy of anything else".

@@thesneakystrangler9002 Spot on. Bethesda's entire research into Fallout was reading the Steam pages of Fallout 1 and 2. It still cracks me up: Fallout 3 is "Go find your father" and Fallout 4 is "Go find your son." Bethesda really are the king of completely uninspired and uncreative RPG writing. They'd probably get better results from high school students taking Creative Writing 101.

He probably thought pizza meant peace. As someone with a speech impediment, it happens a lot when people are trying to be nice. I say the correct number or letter weirdly and they just write them the wrong one to not question me.

1:33 I thought this part was just the Courier saying something completely random, but figuring out that they think that the robot's an ice cream dispenser makes it five times as funny.

Role playing as a moronic courier is funny as hell bro. Because you actually get away with a lot of bad stuff and the villains always tell the idiots what to do. 😂

this is more expansive than I thought, all I really remembered was the ignacio/TALOS-1 stuff and a few others. but it still doesn't go far enough, if you've got 1 intelligence, you should have the option to have "gorilla communicating through 1-3 word sentence sign language" level speech options with everyone.
