Falling in Love, in Bhutan! ❤️ 🇧🇹

Bhutan Touched Our Hearts Today! ❤️ 🇧🇹 Join us on an incredible day in Bhutan! In this vlog, we head up to a monastery on a hilltop where we get to meet the young monk students. It's amazing to see their dedication and enthusiasm for learning at such a young age. We also visit a local village school nearby and I even get to teach a class! The kids are so smart and eager to engage. Later on, we treat ourselves to a delicious traditional Bhutanese meal at our hotel. The food here is out of this world. Bhutan has completely stolen our hearts. The natural beauty, the warm people, the fascinating culture. This is a travel experience we'll never forget! If you're planning a trip to Bhutan, you absolutely must spend time engaging with the locals. That's where the real magic happens! Enjoy the vlog and let me know in the comments if you've been to Bhutan! Smash that like button if you're inspired to visit. Love you guys, thanks so much for watching!

Jack, Buddhism have various branches. The one u find in Bhutan is tantric buddhism. So, the form of Therevada Buddhism that u find in places like Thailand, Sri Lanka where only Buddha is worshipped is not the case in Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal and northern India. In Bhutan Guru Rimpoche (second Buddha) is believed to have brought Buddhism in Bhutan, so he takes the centre stage. But yes, rest everything is based on the teachings of Buddha, people worship both Buddha and Guru Rimpoche.

@@dongba123 Um, it's an architectural style from Nepal? U know just like how every building style tends to spread around the world? Also, History tells us Buddhism Originated in India & Lord Buddha was born in Nepal. Buddhism was brought to Bhutan via Tibet & sometimes India/Pakistan. And Bhutan does have its own Religious Architecture which is used alongside the "Nepal Style". Don't confuse these facts 😊

Hi Jack and Sophia, I have been watching your vidoes since the day 1 you guys have reached here in our country, Bhutan. Sometimes i feel like i am exploring my own country through your vlog. So, Thank you for it. Now coming to your question about buddhism teachings and if you allow me to share my opinion on it. You must have seen the buddha statue in every monsateries you have visited. For us, the buddha is like a source of inspiration and we aspire to be like him. By following his principles and teachings. So that we are also englighten like him. Moreover, the buddha on the other hand means, the englightened one or the awakened one. But when it comes to praying, we used to pray to every Gods for their protections and blessings. Sometimes we used to pray to specific god because their speciality power. For an example, we pray to God Tara of Dolma for wealth in generally. And also depending on our own birth year, we pray to specific birth God. My birth god is Vajrapani or Chana Dorjee and i pray to him mostly. Although there are different gods with their own speciality, we believe in them and pray to them also. like you shared, there are different buddhism teachings in every counteries. The buddhism teachings might be slight different from counteries like Nepal or china. It might be because they follow different branches of buddhism school. There are four main schools of Buddhism. The one following in bhutan are Kagye and Nyingms. Even though different schools have their own ways of teachings and principles, at the end we pray to same god. It is like solving same question with different methods or techniques. I do not know whether you are aware of it or not, if possible, we bhutanese used to visit buddhism monasteries which are in other nations like nepal, china or tibet, Sri lanks and india. Long story in short, we bhutanese believe that there is only buddha though they are represented different versions in different counteries. And i do not know whether i was able to clarify your doubts or question on different buddhism in different country. Lastly, but not the least, Thank you for visiting our country and your positive vibes about our country.

Hi, I'm from Sri Lanka, and we practice Theravada Buddhism. All the teachings of the Buddha are written/composed in the form of Sutras. The language used is called Pali, which was the spoken language at that time (similar to how Hinduism's sermons are written in Sanskrit). Chanting Sutras is not the same as praying. We don't see the Buddha as a god, nor do we believe he currently exists. Buddhism is more like a philosophy or a set of guidelines to help us navigate our path. Therefore, whether we chant the Sutras/compositions individually or as a group, it doesn't directly influence anything external. It's primarily a way to remember the teachings. However, there's another aspect to consider. Chanting Sutras is believed to have a therapeutic effect on both the chanter and the listener, similar to modern music therapy. The tone, volume, pitch, and structure of the Pali words themselves are believed to be crucial for this effect. As I mentioned earlier, simply chanting Sutras is not what the Buddha emphasized. He didn't encourage worshipping him with offerings like flowers, food, or incense. His focus was on us learning his teachings, practicing them in our daily lives, and ultimately achieving Nirvana/enlightenment. There are many different ways chanting Sutras is practiced in various countries, often serving different purposes and integrated into their cultures. It's definitely not the same as praying to a god. In Buddhist literature, gods are considered one of 31 realms of existence, similar to different dimensions (though this analogy isn't perfect). We believe that praying to any being, whether a god, demon, or otherwise, won't help us overcome life's challenges. Therefore, chanting Sutras is seen more like a form of mindful recitation than prayer.

Buddhism practiced in Bhutan is same as that in Tibetan. Bhutan has two sects among 5 sects of Tibetan Buddhism or Vajrayana. Buddha is worshipped as spiritual teacher not as god or creator. Buddhist believe that each one of us can become Buddha if we put enough effort towards spiritual growth. In Nepal you find two type one that practice Tibetan Buddhism who lived in the mountainous regions and Theravada in the Kathmandu valley. Of course you will find lots of those Kathmandu valley mainly due to the presence of Tibetan refugees. Theravada is mainly present in Sri Lanka. Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos. China, Japan, Vietnam and Korea follow Mahayana. Vajrayana is part of Mahayana. Difference is due to geography. Vajrayana is followed by Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia, 3 Republics in Russia and Himalayan regions of India and Nepal.

There are many that are confused about praying in Buddhism - as Buddha is not a god. Many recite mantras (like praying) to help gain enlightenment - and some believe that the Gura Rimpoche is like a god. Tara too. In reality there is not a "traditional" god in Buddhism in the same way with Christians and Muslims. Of course the Hindus have many Gods :). The foundation of Buddhism is the Four Nobel truths and the 8 Fold Path of Buddhism - the foundation of Buddhism, in the Theravada tradition and all others

We pray to Buddha to bless us, help us understand his teachings, which will set us free from all things that keep us attached to this world. Drop me your IG acc, would really love to invite you guys next year. If I invite you, you guys don't need to worry about the daily tariff since it's exempted. I’m sure your guide knows about that. Cheers mate!!
