This was truly heartbreaking. I cried when she cried. As you said it could have been worse, but honestly, you joking with her about it, helped her to not fall apart. Be thankful the two of you are safe and unharmed. Don’t worry about the material things. I was in our trailer when an F3 tornado hit. (175 MPH wind) It completely destroyed our home and I was thrown over 100 feet. I was hurt-broken arm, cut and bruised, my back was hurt but I lived and my husband and children weren’t there. We lost everything. I just thank God we all lived. You will be fine and live to camp again! 😊

Get a tipi , you won’t regret it , they are perfect for fire and safe . Obviously tipi poles require a large vehicle with racks , but if you can manage that , tipis are amazing, warm, safe ,and spacious , with high wind and snow resistance . Bamboo poles are light and easy to manage , it’s just the length that can be a challenge . I’m glad you both were not burnt , lessons learnt hard , are not forgotten . Peace from Australia.

Electrical fires happen every day, it was unfortunate that this happened to you whilst at the same time fortunate that it happened whilst you were outside of the tent. The main damage was to replaceable items. I understand the pain and disappointment that you both went through on that day, such an emotional thing to go through. Thankfully it wasn’t more serious and neither of you were injured in the process of extinguishing the fire. I hope it doesn’t put you off trying again as you had a beautiful set up and it was fun to watch you on the lake in the dinghy. ❤

Hello , I know this is an older video but I’m fixing to start camping and will be buying inflatable tents . New camper here - so can you tell me what went wrong so I don’t make same mistake? Inverter plugged in back but what is it and what caused it ??? Ty if you can help !

At least the expensive fireplace is in great shape...people can't be replaced...it's just a tent. Glad you all ok

I'm sorry for your loss. Camp safety: we all forget about it, thinking everything's ok. 1. If you have fire (the stove) then put the fire extinguisher just outside, within reach 2. Electrical (your inverter, battery) - should be "outside" with heavy duty power cable coming inside ... if a fire happens, it happens "outside". 3. Always consider combustibles around things like the firebox, inverter, and various electrical items. A tent can go up in moments! I am so, so glad you are both safe! Tips: keep water storage near the picnic table/cooking area keep fire extinguisher nearby as well keep a shovel handy, to use "dirt" to smother a fire next time, grab the blanket on the table you moved and smother the fire while it's small. *NOTE: it's easy to spot what you did wrong after-the-fact ... LOL I'm just throwing these out to learn, so you're prepared next time. You have an adorable wife. Keep her safe. You did a good job here!

Oh no!!! I'm so glad you are both safe. What a scary adventure!! Thank you for sharing your adventures, even when they don't go according to plan. It's beautiful to see how you look after each other during challenging times. Also, I'm so glad that your amazing little cabinet didn't get damaged!! (the wooden box you keep your herbs/spices/seasonings in, that folds out into a little cabinet. It is such a clever design!)

So glad you are both safe! But I am very sorry it happened. Losing camp gear for any reason is never fun. I will continue to support, and I agree with others...You both handled it great as a team! We can all learn a lesson from this. Thanks.
