Falcons execs: Bobby Petrino would’ve been fired anyway

Atlanta Falcons President and CEO, Rich McKay and Falcons owner, Arthur Blank, discuss former head coach Bobby Petrino and his surprise departure during the regular season. McKay says the franchise was pleased with Petrino’s abrupt exit and that it was the right thing to happen. Blank says the Falcons were already planning to release Petrino at the end of the season, as he posted a 3-10 record and received several complaints from veteran players.

I had the pleasure to meet Mr Blank. I walked over and talked with him for a few minutes and he kept thanking me for coming over and introducing myself... Hope he gets a ring soon
I really like Arthur blank. He seems like a genuine, honest man
I am a diehard Chiefs fan but yeah Arthur Blank seems very genuine and a very nice person. Hopefully they can turn it around and get that Superbowl. If they are not playing KC in it, I will definitely be rooting for them
Arthur Blank seems like a solid guy. Too bad he's had to deal with the lies of Michael Vick and Bobby Petrino.

I wasn't sure about him after the whole Vick thing but this man is a good man.
Mr. Blank is drooling for a super bowl win. He's going to do everything it takes to get all the right pieces into to place, and when he does, the falcons will be hard to beat for several years. Needs to work on their D, and the falcons will SOAR!

I guess Shahid Khan didn't know of the Bobby Petrino story before hiring Urban Meyer. Jags ended up improving a lot as a team like the Falcons did, after hiring a competent replacement.
Best owner in the NFL. Deserves a ring.
How could Petrino think this way of resigning was appropriate in anyway? There is no way he can get another NFL job. Just no way.

I'm not sure if blank or anyone woulda fired Petrino at the end of the year. If you fire a coach after just one season that's shows big dysfunction I'm sure they woulda given him more time. I'm sure the execs are still pissed off from Petrino loser actions when they said that about that loser Petrino

Does anything excite Arthur Blank? I'm scratching my head as to why Ken Lengone and the other investors supported Arthur's idea to leap frog an industry. His level of energy is blank.

Simple. Having a religion is the same as having a book club on Wednesdays. We don't judge our leaders based on spirituality for the simple fact that we aren't the Middle East
