Today's the 7th anniversary of Petrino's infamous motorcycle ride. The Razorback football team hasn't been the same since. It looked like we were climbing out of the hole in late 2014 and throughout 2015, but fell back in at the end of 2016 and have been there ever since.

I'm a Falcons fan, but I don't understand why other fans were complaining about what Petrino did. All I heard during the middle of the season was "fire Petrino, he sucks" than he leaves and they get all pissed. They can't make up their mind, and they just want to play musical chairs with coaches. And i bet you if Petrino wins the SEC championship ESPN will change their tune about Petrino and kiss his butt. ESPN are just like fair weather fans. I would have the Falcons too if I was Petrino.

Hey Bobby, here's some info on a real coach: Mike Smith has the best winning percentage of all active qualifying coaches (50 decisions). In fact, there isn't any coach that has coached a game since 1978 with a better record than Mike Smith. He stands 5th all time behind a guy that coached in the 20s, and three legends named Madden, Lombardi, and Allen.

What you probably don't realize is that McFadden was a 3 star recruit who didn't get recognition until his junior year. So if you want to get technical Joe Adams and Jarius Wright have already out-performed Mcfadden's performance as a freshmen. Also, this is Petrino's first year, and he still had a top 25 recruiting class. (even though he only had half the normal time to recruit) This year we have the #14 recuiting class. So frankly I'm not sure what you're talking about.

@perkinsfan It's not about offering the contracts, it's about him accepting the contracts, him making a commitment to these teams and quiting when the next best thing is offered. He may be winning games with these college kids but I don't think he's the best role model for them. He' s teaching some of the future of this country that it's okay to quit if it gets too hard, that your promises or commitments to your team are meaningless as long as you get what you want.

And with Tyler Wilson too. As a Razorback fan, Tyler Wilson's draft stock went down because of Petrino not being on the sidelines and the team falling apart. Before he announced he would be back for the 2012 season, Wilson was seen as a potential 1st round pick. He ended up going to the Raiders in the 4th round in 2013 and didn't even make the final roster (got signed to their practice squad the day after final cuts). Then again, Mallet did well with us and he ended up going in the 3rd round.

You reap what you sow. If you date a person that has a record of cheating what makes you think they arent going to cheat on you. What made Arkansas think they were so special that he wasnt going to give them grief. And the people who were cheering for Petrino they were just being loyal to the Razorbacks just like we all would be if our team hired a shady person that they did what they thought was best.

@cardinals3902 Well, I was right on one thing so the same could be said of you. And of course they're different. They arent equal literally, just the pinnacle of their respective sports. The NFL is all pros, so it's pro vs pro. College is mostly random vs. random. Some go, most don't. I understand the pros are grown men, but the coach is still the coach. My point is that Atlanta fans talk so much crap, even though our coach is just as, or more successful than their's at the respective levels.

Petrino seems like he wants to finish what he started here at Arkansas. And what he's doing for us surpasses everything thats going on in Atlanta. See, we're actually winning in the postseason. Not saying Coach Smith is bad, its just Petrino is putting Arkansas in the BCS Championship hunt and shutting every mouth that has doubted him. Are you still mad? Its been 4 years, get over it. You said he's classless so that means you don't need him. You got Smith, and an 0-3 playoff QB. Have fun & WPS!

He's done an outstanding job with Arkansas' football program. He got us in a bowl game last year, he got us in the Sugar Bowl this year. He's gotten us players from Hoover Alabama. He's 24 months into this contract and hasn't shown any signs of wanting out. If I were a professional in some field and I wasn't satisfied with where I was working I'd move too. I'd move somewhere where I could feel at home and be happy with my job. I'm only human, not a coach though, right?

The point of all of this was at the end of the day its all about integrity and respect. Petrino showed NONE of this when he left Atlanta with three games left in his only season there. He should have played it out THEN join Arkansas to save some face at least but it was too apparent that Petrino is in this for himself and no one else. He left an entire team of NFL players busting their asses off to make something of their careers all because 13 games into one season he thought it was too much.

Funny how an owner can fire his head coach before the season is over and he's lauded for being a savvy businessman, but when a coach resigns his position in the organization and takes a job at a place where he is more comfortable then obviously this man is Satan incarnate. Petrino did what was best for him and his family. Period. The American way. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Everyone has the right to be happy. Even Bobby Petrino.

I agree I think Petrino's move was wrong, but people don't know that when he first joined the teamed he had constant problems with players who constantly disrespected him. Deangelo Hall and someone else. Also Vick QB was banned in nfl for his actions, and Petrino was left with players who refused to follow his direction. Petrino should have at least finished out the season with Atlanta then depart from the team. So total blame on him is not entirely correct.

zubE jankins nobody remembers how you were as a person. Most of the great figures in history were awful people. Not to say that Bobby Petrino is a great figure of history, but he was an above average CFB coach. And that’s what he’ll be remembers as. In 50 years nobody will remember the motorcycle crash because his stats will be numbers on a website. That’s why teams continually risked hiring Petrino and why so many of your fans regret firing him. As a small school one of the prices to be competitive in CFB is that you have to either: cheat to pay players, or hire a coach none of the big schools will touch. That’s the only way, and Razorback fans know it. I root for umass I’m very aware of how you have to work with egotistical pieces of shit to move forward

Smith has proven he can win in Atlanta, Petrino has proven he can win in Arkansas. But it's Petrino who has brought up Arkansas into the ranks of the elite, much like Smith has, but Arkansas is winning after the regular season. Nat'l title is equivalent of a superbowl, bowl game is equal to playoff game. Arkansas is 2-1, Atlanta - 0-3
