Eyewitness to Crucifixion

Romans wrote about crucifixion in their official reports, novels, and poems. They wrote it into comedy sketches a bit bawdy. They even used it to help them swear. Eyewitness to Crucifixion is a collection of their own words--what Romans had to say about crucifixions they conducted or witnessed.
This video is a short collection of the eyewitness reports. For a more complete collection, see the book EYEWITNESS TO CRUCIFIXION. You can sample some of the pages on the author's website: StephenMillerBooks.com. Go to the Books page and click the photo of the book cover.

Here's the book promo copy from the publisher:
WHY CRUCIFIXION?
Best-selling journalist Stephen M. Miller was curious about crucifixion-the brutal method used to execute Jesus Christ. He dug into eyewitness testimonies from Roman history about the cross, and then he shared his findings in a short KZread video ["What Romans said about Crucifixion"]. It turned into a viral sensation, with over 1.7 million views!
Now for the first time in book form, Miller reveals his fascinating full work, shining a spotlight on the shadowy history of Roman crucifixion. In Eyewitness to Crucifixion you’ll:
-Gain new understanding from real people who actually witnessed the horror of the cross
-Discover previously obscured scholarly knowledge, now translated into casual English for everyone
-Examine the historical context for the Christian faith as seen through first-century eyes
-See for yourself the unvarnished, un-hyped truth about crucifixion and make your own decisions about related, current controversies of faith
-Learn more about the historical Jesus and his mission.

@@StephenMillerTheWriter there is no “eye witness” testimony from non Christian sources. The first words ever written were from Paul, 30+ years after his supposed death. Half of those epistles are fraudulent, many are missing, others with interpolations, additions, deletions and misinterpretations. No first century historian records his life. 50 years beyond, Tacitus briefly mentions Christians (only shows they existed, which no one doubts.) and in Josephus’ Antiquities of the Jews, the Testimonium Flavianum, which has been debunked as a pious fraud interpolation (probably by Eusebius in the 4th century.) So basically, nothing.

Well from the spirit of God telling me so and that God did everything in a ‘Mystery’ The devil/Satan isn’t who you think it is; nor Is Jesus nor is God nor is yourself; for he has made all things hidden and you have been living a lie for thousands of years as you have been reincarnated over and over trying and trying but thou dosent believe in ‘Jesus’ you know what you are feeling; you know that you are in captivity and afraid ‘to go to hell and burn’ well I tell you hell is here so what now? Neither a party nor its flag bearer can be arbitrarily assigned the title of 'God's chosen' simply because they believe in and adhere to a handful of commandments. Let us put it this way, if Jesus returned today, would He look at either political party and say 'these are my children in whom I am well pleased?'. Surely we all know the answer. Christianity is greater than us following a handful of commandments at the expense of others and feeling righteous about it. A closer look at the political system in the US shows that each party has some policies/ elements that align with the Christian faith. None of them is an absolute fit...and neither should it be. These are man-made systems and therefore cannot align entirely with the will or nature of God. As a result, christians will and should vote for either party depending on their challenges. If your primary issue is related to immigration, vote for someone who will solve the problem. If your burning platform is medical insurance, vote for a candidate who will support that. It is presumptious to believe that all Christians should vote for one party and if they do not, then they are opposing the faith. This is political deception at its highest and as children of God, we should not fall for it. Jesus never tried to change the Roman government. This reality got even the disciples confused as they still asked Him when the Kingdom would be restored to Israel. Jesus always maintained that His kingdom was not of this world. He focused on the hearts of people, reconciling them to God and getting them ready to enter into His everlasting kingdom. The Book of Revelations tells us that sooner or later all world systems will bring persecution upon those of the true faith. This is happening already across the world. Not just in politics, but in schools, offices, and even in some churches. For sure it is happening to different degrees in different places at different times. However, no president or governor will change that. It is foretold that it will be so as this entire world system comes to an end. Our focus should be on training our children in the way of the Lord, living a life that is pleasing to Him and preaching the gospel so that others too may know Him and come into the everlasting kingdom. May the Lord help us to that.

Roman crucifixion was a horrible atrocity that sexually humiated the person nailed up. David Tombs and Gunnar Samuelsson are onto something when they both discuss Seneca's _acuta crux_ in their reviews of John Granger Cook's _Crucifixion in the Mediterranean World._ They both sharply criticised his blindness to the high probability that the extreme and highest penalty involved some kind of penetration. It has been a couple of years since I've read Samuelsson. Scholars can get a bit schoolyard-nasty with each other, when there's a disagreement. My reading focused on what Roman and Greek and Jewish and Christian writers in the first few centuries AD said about crucifixion. I did read of impalement through the private parts, much like the Assyrians did to the Judeans at Lachish around 700 BC (documented on Assyrian stone images; I think in the British Museum now). But I did not come away with the perception that Romans had a protocol for crucifixion. They tortured and crucified people in creative and wretchedly evil ways. Our attempts to imagine what Jesus went through and how he was hung on what could have been a cross or a stake are futile. The Bible says almost nothing about the method and the instruments that the Romans used. Most of us have an established portrait of the Crucifixion in our head. The image comes from paintings and from a first-century picture of graffiti. But those are artistic guesses. God knows what his Son suffered. We can only guess. However, try to preach that on Good Friday.

I think that the closest any movie makers came to the crucifixion of Christ was Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ". It was brutal to see in that film. But then again, crucifixion was meant to be brutal, as a warning to every non-Roman what the State would be willing to do to them. By the way, in that movie, Jim Caviezel (who played Jesus) dislocated a shoulder while on the Cross, and was struck twice by lightning, according to his own accounts. Another time, while carrying the cross, he fell down, his mouth in the sand, and biting his lip, in the process. So when blood comes from his mouth when on the Cross, it's actually Jim's own blood.

No they really aren't. To elaborate the Beast of Revelation according to Gematria (Jewish numerology) was Nero. People have been preaching the end times for at least 1200 years. But more importantly most of the Bible has been demonstrated to be untrue. No Garden of Eden (we evolved over 6 migrations out of Africa not magicked into existence in a garden in prehistoric Armenia), Noah's flood didn't happen as advertised in the Bible, the book of Daniel is understood to be mythical by Biblical scholars etc. However the damning part is Yahweh doesn't exist because earthquakes are caused by plate tectonics and winds by barometric pressure imbalances not deities also Yahweh occupies the same place in the Jewish pantheon as Thor and Mars and Mars is a planet not a supernatural God. Besides we've invented toilet paper now, the Bible is wholly obsolete.

By his wounds you have been healed. Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it.
