The vast spread of lash marks all over the body appear to indicate that, as was Roman practice for those condemned to death by crucifixion, the person in the shroud had been scourged or flogged while completely naked.

In the "The Passion of the Christ" during the scourging, Christ fell to his knees. He then got up and then looked at the Romans as if telling them, "Bring it on". He brought more pain and suffering onto himself by doing that act.

Well, I wouldn't say Christ said "Bring it on," but rather, "I forgive you." He knew he was taking on the sins of the world and the men scourging were sinning. Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, is so good!

I hope for his Mother's sake, that wasn't true. She saw enough. I can't watch things like that, never could, but I think of what Mary saw and knew every time I say a Rosary.

Well when Isaiah prophesied about Jesus’s passion, he said that, “he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.” And in this section he is speaking about the passion and the other sufferings Jesus would receive, not just in general it seems. So that makes sense.

Vn Mary of agreda as revealed by the BVM in the Mystical city of God, notes the Flagrum ripped the flesh of the body of Christ. Saint Alphonsus Liguori writes of the same details as the above.

I wont watch The Passion (just saw some scenes) but did watch Jesus of Nazareth (Bishop Barren's fav) and others. I feel he wanted a blood bath but the the whole passion was more than that.No one thinks Jesus wasn't abused to the point that most couldn't withstand whether his version or another. I can't watch Roots scenes like this priest and some Holocaust scenes, but Steven Speilberg was able to capture the horror in his version without the continual blood bath with Schindlers List. I still remember feeling like I couldn't breath at some scenes. Jesus withstood what would have killed most of us. His torture could only be withstood with his father's grace. I read of a child "spanked" for 2 hours who died of shock without bleeding. He's right internal hemorrhage is just as bad. My daughter saw the Shroud in Italy, Fr Dalton brought more to it than I ever learned. I appreciate this segment.

I can't either, I wouldn't watch a Saint thrown to the lions for minutes getting ripped apart, I get the gruesomeness on a few seconds but that's me. I think that's why on this show or another many like Bishop Barren liked other Easter movies. Nothing can make you really grasp all Jesus did for us.

Everyone who was crucified had to suffer the same way as Jesus did. Sometimes watching these videos you'd think Jesus was the only person who suffered by crucifixion. Thousands & thousands of people across the Empire from Israel to England were crucified.

@@ort8410 Across the Roman Empire thousands upon thousands of people were scourged & crucified. From Israel to England we have evidence of crucifixion, we even have examples of heel bone with the nail still embedded in the bone. It's simply ridiculous to believe that whoever wrote the gospels had information enough to say that "he was marred more than any other man." That's a factually ridiculous statement. Jesus was an intelligent man sadly many Christians like yourself find his example not worthy of emulation.
