    Thanks for sharing your family and history. The harmonica playing reminds me of my grandpa. He could play any tune you asked. The photos remind me of something I want to be apart of or people I want to get to know. A time gone by… something that I wish we all still had. Thanks again. And cheers to our dads and granddads.

    Thanks for the kindness. Grandpa Miller had a harmonica. I got my idea for getting one from him. Then I got a dozen. There are too many keys and too few harmonicas...at least in my house.

    Hello. Yes, I hear the run of notes that sound very much alike and I hear the rest of the notes that are not at all alike. It was within the past week that I first heard the song Gita and the first I ever heard of Raul Seixas. Someone else from Brazil mentioned it to me in a comment I thought was a hoax. I don't speak Portuguese and I have never been to Brazil. With as many people writing songs all over the world, doesn't it make sense that some notes of some songs on occasion will intersect with notes of another song in another part of the world? If a song that I wrote shares a few notes with that of a gifted Brazilian musician, that seems encouraging to me to be found in that company. I expect Gita came from the heart and experiences of the writer just as my song came from mine.

    Was Jesus mentioned in old Roman books? News to me

    Jesus appears briefly in a history book by first-century Jewish history writer, Josephus. He also appears in formal letter by a Roman official. I think both are quoted in this video.

    Jesus was born on Sunday March 1, 7BC. He was born in the latter reign of Herod the Great. Herod died in 4BC. The 'Star of Bethlehem' was not an astronomical or cosmological event. Joseph (Jesus' father) formed an alliance with Theudas, the head of the Therapeutes. The 2 in warrior mode gave themselves titles taken from an OT verse. Joseph was the 'Star' (of David) and Theudas was the 'Scepter. The West Manasseh Magi were a priestly caste of Samaritan philosophers founded in 44BC by Menahem and later led by Simon Zelotes. The Magians were Joseph's political associates. When they 'followed the star' they were agreeing with Joseph that a new Davidic king (Jesus) had been born. Because they recognized him as king, they were accepting him as legitimate.

    I think you've got just speculation, ancient urban legend, and quasi-conspiracy theories to form an engaging Christmas sermon for a large minority of a particular group of searching souls in the USA. Peace to you anyhow. At least you're thinking creatively. But we don't know that depth of detail from 2,000 years ago. We're not even sure what Congress did this past week.

    DON’T WORRY(,) JESUS Like many passages in the Bible some pastors claim is a “bad translation” or “the comma was misplaced” - ‘Don’t worry JESUS” - could could be read “Don’t worry JESUS” (don’t bother Him) or “Don’t worry, JESUS” (as in ‘don’t worry … JESUS is there/here.) The young children, blind Bartimaeus, the Synagogue Leader, the Centurion, JESUS in Gethsemane; instances where people thought they c/would ‘bother’ JESUS. We can go to our GOD with any and everything! So, remember, you can’t ‘worry’ JESUS; and don’t worry, JESUS is in complete control.

    Hi, Eunice. Thanks for the kind words. It looks like the book comes in paperback, e-Book/ ePub format; e-Book/Amazon Kindle Format, and as an app under Olive Tree/Harper Collins. I haven't seen any of them but the paperback, which is pretty tattered right now. Just be warned that the company rep said the book has an ugly cover. I think the sales are approaching 800k. Imagine what a handsome cover would have done. It's just my luck to get an ugly cover. I just checked the time in Italy. 4:30 am. You are an early bird. Enjoy the sunrise. You'll have to wait 2 and a half hours. That's time enough for nap. Or to prep for today's class sessions.

    Thanks Eunice. It was an unusual experience. It seemed like a bad idea because it's so hard to get new music heard these days, there are so many excellent musicians and so many ways to distribute music. The competition is fierce. But I felt compelled to get Habakkuk's message out there. We hold up Abraham as a model of faith for offering his son. But Habakkuk offered himself. He likely died in the Babylonian invasion and in the leveling of Jerusalem. After his prayer, which is the source of the new song's chorus, he is never heard from again. He likely died with utter faith in God.

    Stephen....why did Herod rely on the Magi to tell him where Jesus was to be born?...why couldn't he have followed the Star himself with his Army?

  • @StephenMillerTheWriter
    @StephenMillerTheWriter5 ай бұрын

    Hi, Lee. We're left guessing about Herod. He was probably clinically insane. His fear of a coup (which a new baby king represented) drove him to execute his wife, mother-in-law, and 2 sons. But why he didn't send his army right away to Bethlehem is a vexing question. He needed a scout to confirm this rumor and prophecy. Why not some men who posed no threat to the boy? If a soldier of Herod's army came asking for a little boy under 2 years old who had a star event with his birth, I don't believe I'd want to answer that question to a man with a drawn sword. Lee, Merry Christmas. Peace to you.
