Exploring the Victory Piano on Display at The Museum of Making Music

The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, California and its Manager of Artifacts and Exhibitions, Jonathan Piper, provides a behind the scenes look at a remarkable artifact, a 1944 Steinway Victory Vertical or as it was more affectionately known, the G.I. Steinway. After Steinway factories were repurposed during WWII to producing parts for transport gliders, only a few pianos continued to be made during the war years, one of which is housed in the permanent collection at the Museum of Making Music.
