    First found this game in 2014 and watched it grow to what has become today. Beamng still remains one of my favorite simulators since I first discovered it.

    I found it around 2015, and lost touch with it for a few years. 2017 I got back into car racing and found automation, which could export to beamng.

    For 2013, I personally think this was the best 100% psyhics based game existent, even if it was not optimized.

    The level they're in and the level they're ambitiously trying to reach with this software has every Simulator beat. Both old, new and upcoming will never compare.

    The end result is selling this tech to big game companies. But it's very cpu demanding and with AI and games getting more complex than ever, tech like this takes a backseat. In a decade when games are actually photo realistic, hardware will keep improving, then developers will have to incorporate realistic physics to push games to the next level.

    Its hard to believe that BeamNG is around 10 years. I can remember back then playing it while i had no internet. this game entertained me for hours. i remember the old menus and visuals but most importantly i remember the tire physics update. that was the day i had to upgrage my pc because my cpu couldnt handle it anymore.

    There is audio, you just need to select a sound provider in the audio tab and select the speakers you are wanting to use. Personally i am using DirectSound. Edit: Using an RTX 3070 TI made the dry rock island stable. Edit 2: The game resets your graphics every time you reboot it.

    @@feamtortress2 the crash itself looks better in 0.1 because of particles and the smoke, it's a lot more realistic than the newest versions

    It first started out with Rigs of Rods for me back on the old family Macintosh around ~2008, I remember when they released a trailer for Beamng in 2012 and was super happy to see that another game just like Rigs of Rods was coming out that took the technology even further. I remember playing the demo on our old thinkpad at ~5-10 FPS having the time of my life. Good times.

    The demo build of BeamNG, i used to play it with a laptop that put out less than 30 fps from it. Now almost 10 years later i have a monster pc and a force feedback wheel to play with.

    They removed it because it would probably break and block the screen and if they made it too realistic then it would make the game not support the graphics cards that usually would

    I'm definitely excited for this year, because I bet the BeamNG devs are going to make a big update that celebrates the 10th anniversary of BeamNG drive, and have a whole batch of new content as well. I can definitely see that coming, or at least I think so. Either way, I am looking forward for what's next this year!

    In the last update they said to not expect something as big as it anytime soon, so I wouldn’t get too crazy hyped. I think they’ll do something special, but I doubt it will be as big as the last update.

    i remember the .3 teaser. I remember having two thoughts: first off; "this is a game? like we can play it, not an expensive simulation?" and: "ah, the devs will probably give up, or theyre overselling it." im so glad i was wrong with #2. I have never been able to play BeamNG, but I have loved watching it grow. hopefully soon I can join the community

    What I like about this is definitely the smoke, dust, and sparks. They seem to be absent in the current versions, I hope they add them back.

    After a bit of testing I finally figured out you can spawn vehicles using the world editor. On the right hand panel thing go to Library tab, the meshes sub tab, click level, BeamNG, then click "BeamNG Vehicle", select your vehicle and click "create new" to spawn it. They even come with AI! Just in case anyone didn't know, cause I couldn't figure it out.

    That's incredible, the first version I played was 0.3 and currently I still have version 0.3 installed, I love this game and being able to see and try version 0.1 seems amazing to me. Good video and thanks 👍

    Well I absolutely love beamng! I play both the new and some slightly older versions and it is so realistic! The only thing I don't like is the New Gridmap witch in my opinion is really bad, but it's not a big deal as I have downloaded the trchgridmap from the mods store. I really can't wait to see how much will the game improve in the next years!

    Something about the music just makes this video feel like a showcase of a lost game from our childhood, now, all we got left is footage of a broken old version downloaded from reddit, it brings back memories, friends even, God I can't describe it.. ..old beamng builds footage combined with this kind of music makes it fell like an nostalgia trip You just wanna go back and experience the feeling you got when you played this game for the fist time, where you found out about all the feature and secrets

    This game needs: More debris (from crashes and in general), Scratches during crashes (such as in GTA HD universe), Improved mud and water physics and logic (optional), Destroyable road signs and other objects in the world (bridges too, but it is a thing)

    destructible objects would probably crash your computer if they were ever like the cars with jbeams,so maybe an approach similar to forza horizon but a bit more realistic and scratches.well you might see a little bit from crashes but its not really that noticable

    I wasnt there from the beginning, but I remember when the major overhaul happened in 2016-17. The game went from looking like Rigs of Rods to the BeamNG we know today

    Started on rig of rods then hopped onto the beam train when it released on steam. I’ve played on old laptops for years at 15 fps when i was a kid (and LOVED it). Now i have my own PC that can run it no issue and have racked up about 1800 hours since I bought it and still enjoy it.

    This instantly reminded me of the pre-order exclusive Next Car Game Technology Sneak Peek.exe from Bugbear. Still have the thing installed. Remember a friend hyping up the BeamNG, but I never got it or tested it.

    I'm 20 so it's kinda crazy to think this game has been around for almost half my life, I remember spending hours watching videos on the tech demo when it was released and when I finally got a pc in 2015 it was the first game I bought. 1500 hours later I'm still not bored with it

    you can spawn cars using World editor, in scene tree click library, level, BeamNG and BeamNG Vehicle, in the pop up window click vehicle, choose a vehicle and have fun yeah and cars drive by themselves, i havent fugured out how to stop them from doing it :)

    I distinctly remember the red by default truck not sure if that was also in 0.3, I vaguely remember a farm in one of the maps. It was loong time ago, before beam I had played RoR. Beam after even just a few releases considerably reduced the jank of it.

    i remember i was playing the tech demo in late 2013 on my first laptop (discount best buy laptop from 2008) and i couldnt run it. wanted to simply just play the demo so badly. christmas 2013 i got my first ever gaming laptop, and the beamng tech demo was the first thing i threw at it at like 7:00 that christmas morning when i went to open my new gaming laptop up, and it ran perfectly which made me ecstatic. good memories i did however wait a long while to actually buy the game, i wanted it on steam (and at the time it was only available to buy on their website) so i waited a couple years and of course i did eventually buy the game on steam in 2016

    man, I remember seeing this game in its first stages when I was staying up way past my bedtime on early youtube wishing I could play this game cause i had a ps3 and didnt know how to play this lol here I am now still playing beam since 2016 love this game will always hold a special place in my heart for gaming!

    i remember playing a very similiar version of beamng when i was 7 or 8, it had dry rock island, idustrial, port, east coast usa, derby arenas, gridmap, grid small puer-like map, and i think something more but i forgot, it was beamng 4.0.0 i think

    I'm not sure if anyone else thought of or noticed this, but the exe/installer appearing to only be a couple of kilobytes, suggests that the build is still sitting on their server and freely available to be downloaded by the installer, and depending on how it authenticates, may not require the installer to download it, as long as you know how and where to connect.

    Actually was able to run it and runs surprisingly well, good find. I can try importing some vehicles to the new version as I cannot find how to select any vehicle than the default in 0.1, despite them being there.

    i remember this version i had it on my moms old windows 7 pc and it didnt run well due to no graphics card but 15 fps is all i needed at the time for something as advanced as that
