    Thank you very much for the very informative and charmingly presented video. I have been taking astaxanthin (12 mg) and curcumin daily for about 8 years now. My immune system has improved dramatically since then. I also make sure I eat a balanced diet, get enough exercise and do muscle training 4 times a week. I haven't had any colds or flu since then. About 8 months ago I had a biological age test carried out at Glycan Age. That was very positive. My biological age (36) is 23 years younger than my chronological age (59). Astaxanthin has certainly played a significant part in this very pleasing development.

    @@moniryousefian8782 Thank you very much. Gladly, I take 3 capsules of VitalAstin Astaxanthin brand: "Ivarsson's" daily. I also take 2 different types of curcumin from the manufacturer "Cellavent". I also regularly take OPC from the manufacturer "CDF Sports & Health Solutions", and I recently started taking resveratrol from the manufacturer "ZENement", Q10 from the manufacturer "MeinVita" as well as olive oil "O'liv Plus" and a pomegranate extract "Granavie Plus" from the manufacturer Cellavent. I have also been taking Nuchido Time+ from the manufacturer Nuchido for about 5 months. This is the most effective dietary supplement (unfortunately not exactly cheap) that I have ever taken. It drastically increases the NAD+ level in the cells and has a whole range of positive effects. Extreme energy boost, better and deeper sleep, increased stamina, more strength, better skin appearance (fresher and finer pores). According to the latest scientific findings, it is also likely to have positive effects on health and lifespan. Before I took Nuchido Time+, I managed to do about 150 pull-ups in 5 sets (wide grip). After 5 months of taking Nuchido Time+ I was able to do about 230 pull-ups in 5 sets. That's certainly not bad for someone who will be 60 this month kind regards🌞

It’s generally thought that astaxanthin has higher antioxidant activity compared to AMLA. if you look at ORAC scores (a general measure of antioxidant activity) AMLA has a score of about 261,000 and astaxanthin has a score of about 2,822,200. So much higher. This doesn’t discount AMLA though - it’s a great antioxidant berry and a great addition to the diet. 👍

    As you mentioned, they are in the same family (terpenes). Astaxanthin is considered a stronger antioxidant, but it is also the one that is researched more. I would use some caution with canthaxanthin - there are reports of canthaxanthin retinopathy (a condition where crystals form in the retina of the eye).. Luckily this reverses once stopping the canthaxanthin, but it’s concerning. Hope this helps.

  • @outofthedoldrums

    @outofthedoldrums

    I think a lot of it is study design, specific supplement brand/formulation used, and dosing. It’s hard to standardize when many different groups are studying a compound that is contained in many different formulations and dosages. Adding to this, many studies are of poor quality so have to be taken with a grain of salt or completely disregarded. When this happens, I go with what the majority of the scientific literature finds, that astaxanthin overall has beneficial health effects.
