It is fair approach and you have all the rights to ask everyone to respect it, but I think that in most cases it's quite pointless. Foreign people won't travel thousands of km just to vandalize a place, while local people already know its existence. People living "nearby" can easily spot the place, no matter how you manipulate the footage. I live almost 600 km from this town, and it took me about five minutes to figure out which one it was. However as I've already written, your channel your rules. Keep up the good work!

I resent the words desolate and abandoned; I prefer; giving back to nature what once was hers, wild life will return in all its glory to this places that are not longer useful to people. The glass is half full, not half empty.

Such devastation and beauty. The pictures took my breathe away. Such quality content. I came for it all

The video footage is done in such an artistic way as to create an almost sacred atmosphere. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for this group of adventurous men.

I love the fact that you pay so much attention to your choice of music plus the fact the narrator has such a calm speaking voice and often lets the pictures speak for themselves. They're also not afraid to just have the background noise which gives an immersive experience. It's quality film making! Great editing, excellent post-production, brilliant choice of subjects. Finally, the drone footage is an excellent bonus as are the whole crew involved in creating this. This is SO impressive!

The painting on the ceiling is so beautiful and fantastic! Whoever painted it was as great as the painters of the past like DaVinci and MIchaelangelo. And considering the fact that it was made back in 1932, it can already be classified as historical, vintage or classic painting. It may even be worth a fortune today. I hope that there will be people or organizations that will preserve and take good care of that painting.

I was born in live in the U.S. but, all of my blood is from Southern Italy. That's where my grandparents grew up. That's where all the Traditions came that I grew up with. We always came together and ate a huge family dinner every Sunday. There was always pounds of spaghetti and meatballs and salad and Italian bread. I think the first solid food I had was spaghetti. I never learned to speak Italian but my grandma spoke broken English and I learned to understand what she was saying. I feel if my family had not all come to America that I would have ended up being some kind of farmer. In America, if a person comes from Sicily and another comes from Italy, the two are not considered the same country. Isn't that interesting. I guess I am Sicilian. Thank you for the beautiful video. My Grandparents came to the US from Acerno, Italy. We too had Sunday dinners as you described. And to this day I could eat spaghetti and meatballs every day and never get tired of it. Lol My Grandparents did not teach their children Italian as they were Americans now and so their children spoke English and my Grandparents spoke broken English. I would love to visit their hometown one day.

So interesting the history of these old villages and how devastating it can be when they are damaged by earthquakes. It makes interesting photography capturing how the vegetation takes over and becomes part of the structures but at the same time its saddening to see this place now a ghost town and deserted. Thank you for your video and look forward to more just like this one.

Love this! It's hard to think that such an ancient collection of villages had survived there for centuries, only to be forced to flee in the modern age. The old structures were never made to withstand earthquakes and of course the earth itself has changed over the decades. They probably rebuilt since there was no other options. Now that they were forced to resettle (did the government pay them to leave?) I could see why they abandoned everything for a safer region. My parents are from the Philippines and Typhoons, Landslides, Volcanic Eruptions, Earthquakes and Tsunamis destroy whole villages every year. Yet they bury their dead, clean up and rebuild almost on the same spot. Most have nowhere to resettle to, so survival and the vicious circle of deadly nature is in their DNA. I watch your videos because I'm fascinated by these towns on hills or in remote locations dating back to Roman or Medieval times, fortified for safety, and then continued for community. Only natural disaster or the migration to modern cities have vacated them. Now that the world is learning to work remotely, could you imagine how a rebuilt "Stay At Home" town like this could thrive?

This one may be your best yet gentlemen. I was born in '69, got my first camera (B/W) at 12 and photographed my first explore with my Grandpa at 14. I haven't been the same since, though now I get out far less. My photographs & memories have helped sustain me in difficult times though, and your videos are so well done they convey the feel or sense of the place as if I were with you. Thank you for using all your senses;) I have no regrets, even the injuries, only that we didn't have today's nifty tools!

As an italian living next to this region, I would like to give a little explanation and my simple opinion on these abandoned ghost towns: because of it's geographical position, Italy is a - morphologically speaking - very complex country: earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides...you name it, we have it. The last 60 years have seen an intensification of earthquakes, because of a particular active moment of the European and African tectonic plates (above which Italy rests); this resulted in a large number of serious earthquakes that destroyed several towns and even major cities in the country's seismic regions (central east coast mostly - the Abruzzo region shown in these videos primarily). Many of these towns are located at the epicenter of major seismic hotspots, and for this reason have been destroyed almost entirely, and risk of being further destroyed in the future. This leads to the dilemma: does it make sense to rebuild something that risks of being destroyed in the near future? While I am sympathetic to the history and beauty of these seismic villages, I think that insisting on rebuilding such villages is not only ignoring nature's message - thus endangering future citizens - but also an enormous spending of public finances that could be used for something safer, that wont risk of being destroyed by an earthquake within the next 20 years. Talking about it with many friends of mine, I realize that this opinion of mine is quite shared among many people. This does not mean underestimating or disrespecting the suffering and traditions of these villages, it simply means to avoid such sufferings to happen once again.

Iwas born and raised until Age 13 in a pleasant resort village of fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. We moved to a nearby city of about 30,000 that year (1953) and when I take a virtual tour via Google Maps, I hardly recognize the place, where everyone knew his neighbors and we only locked our doors when we left town for vacations in the northern forests. Its population is more than 13,000, has rows of condominiums lining its streets, a "Bedroom Community" for the nearby largest city in the state. Only elderly former residents such as I remember what it was like in that slower, gentler time, and like those who used to live in these venerable Italian villages, when we're gone, no one will know how it was before. Thank you for recording some history for posterity. Stay safe, everyone.
