Exercises for Relieving Constipation, IBS Bloating and Abdominal Pain

These constipation exercises stimulate bowel movement to relieve gas, bloating, constipation and abdominal pain. Physical Therapist Michelle from www.pelvicexercises.com.au guides you through gentle exercises suitable for regular constipation, slow transit constipation or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This constipation exercise routine is performed lying down in bed or on the floor and is designed for women and men of all ages including individuals confined to bed.
Exercise and movement is a natural treatment for constipation and gas. This home-based exercise routine can be done daily to stimulate stool and gas movement through your bowel to decrease abdominal pain and bloating. Whole body exercises including walking and swimming are also helpful for stimulating the smooth muscle that lines your bowel to promote bowel movement.
These constipation exercises include:
* Breathing exercises for relaxing the abdominal wall for constipation
* Targeted abdominal stretches and Yoga poses that stimulate your bowel
* Abdominal massage for constipation that show you the correct technique and massage direction for stimulating stool and gas movement through your large intestine to relieve constipation and painful gas.
These exercises work well when combined with warm pack/heat applied to the abdomen before and/or after this routine. You can perform these exercises every couple of hours throughout the day when you are suffering from constipation or IBS symptoms of bloating and abdominal pain with constipation. These exercises can also help you prevent constipation when you are confined to bed or unable to do your regular exercises and activities.

I had been struggling since yesterday and it felt like HELL. I was nauseous, feverish, and weak. I did this and after 30-45mins, I went to the bathroom and it was a little easier to pass (not bad cause this is the first time I did this). I will never forget this day. I feel like a new person. LOL. I like this side of KZread where we talk about stuff that really happens in real life, not be ashamed of it, and get REAL SOLUTIONS. Thank you!!!

I'm 13 years old and I can't express how much I wanna thank you. Litterly exploded in the bathroom lol. Especially when it's Ramadan I have the hardest stools ever. Didn't go to the bathroom for about 3 days. I feel so relaxed right now Edit: it's been a month now. And it's like I never got constipation. It's long gone Things that helped me : 1. Eat more fruits and vegetables 2. Chew your food really really well 3. DRINK WATER 4. Try to move more through out the day 5. Replace some meals with soup (this one is VERY helpfull) 6. Take a stool softener And it will be gone like it never happend. You can see results from 2-7 days

Make sure you're drinking tons of water between iftar and fajr. Salad is good too. I'm the same.

Out of all, why does pooping have to be that complicated. Its literally controling my life,what i eat,how much i eat,whatever i do??
This is so effective! I feel bloated for almost a week now and did this exercise last night before going to bed. My tummy feels so relaxed after. This morning I drank a cup of hot chocolate and just a few minutes later I feel the urged to poop. This helps so much! Thank you and God bless you!

Well it did take my pain away. I going to do these exercises a couple of time a day
thank you sooo much! im 17 years old student who had problems going to the bathroom for a whole week...i was really sad and stressed about it, so i did these exercises yesterday before going to bed and in the morning and then went for a 1 hour walk. all my problems fixed! thank you im so happy ❤️ i also do those breathing exercises a lot and the massage too❤️ ill recommend this video to my family who also sometimes suffer :(

@We Are Gamers Try stool softener which has macrogol 4000 in it. Use it only 2 weeks but idk can you take it longer if its not helping then you could talk to doctor.

It worked, thank you so much. Yesterday I upped my fibre (banana on toast, more water, 6 prunes, 14 almonds and a pear). I did this exercise before bed and in the morning. After whilst having my warm glass of water, it came out! Since covid, constipation has come out of nowhere.

Do this excercise and don't do the stomach massage dryly put oil in your belly button and all over your stomach and then do the massage(let the oil sit)and afterwards drink a glass or two of milk I have chronic constipation which means that I get constipated even after I go to the bathroom so this helps alot obviously you need to eat alot of fiber,drink water and excercise minimum for an hour you can also dance or do any physical activity which allows you to move alot for and hour Hope this helps anyone❤

Wow just wow ... I tried explaining the message on your video (the picture before I watched the video) to my Dr . I tried explaining that I couldn't go unless I massaged under and around my ribs on the right side. She looked at me like I was CRAZY!! Thank you for this video. Now I know I'm not the only one.

oh well, I'm trying everything: eating veggies, walking, some breathing techniques to ease my anxiety and, let me tell you, it got better, but constipation is still here kicking in. I just hope this will help me, because I'm honestly tired to depend on laxatives. I hope y'all get better guys

Too much dependency on laxatives make your constipation worse. From what my doc said (I have ibs), using laxatives and enemas make your bowel muscles lose their ability to push the bowels through. It'll be dependent on the medicine. So maybe take a break from them for a while.

@@Alyssa-senpai yeah that's what i've been trying to do lately. I've stopped taking too many lasxatives, i use them just in case of emergency, without using them too much. But yeah, i hope that as time passes i can finally get rid of those (I truly doubt it, but what else can we do?)

Osmotic laxatives, such as miralax, do not cause dependency the way stimulant laxatives, such as senna based laxatives, do. When increasing fiber, do so slowly. As a woman, aim for 26 g daily

Hi Michelle. I had constipation, more like a blockage, one morning and tried walking, drinking plenty water, but no progress. After trying to move my bowels for several hours my bowel muscles had become weak and ineffective. I had almost given up when I decided to try KZread and found your video. I carried out the exercises and within a short period of time (10mins approx) I had the urge followed then by a successful passage. FYI - as my bowel muscles were so exhausted I resorted to the Asian style posture with my feet on the seat which also helped. Thank you so much for showing your exercises. God bless you.

Hey I know this comment was 3 years ago but I'm also experiencing the same thing... I also have constipation for I think about 3 years now too. I've tried everything and used prune juice as an alternative to poop but I know I can't always depend on It so this will be my day 1 of trying to get better

After a serious operation, my prolonged use of medication gave me something I never experienced before. Constipation. For a while I was dependent on laxatives. Then I stumbled onto your video, and along with modifying my eating habits, I’m doing far better than before. Prior to my surgery I always took care of myself, exercised and watched my weight. Let me say this to you personally: people like yourself do humanity a greater service than you realize. Perhaps others don’t think of taking the time to express their gratitude. Less than 5 mins. Less than 5 mins after watching this video I had a bowel movement. I’m still constipated, so I’m not fully cured, but these exercises are starting to make me realize that I probably need more exercise in my life (as well as diet changes of course). I was taught by a massage therapist to massage from left to right under the ribcage, and right to left beneath the belly button. It is a relief to feel the gut movement.
I've had constipation for 14 years, get to poop only once every week or twice if I'm lucky, this has really helped! Thanks! 6

My son has had problems for about 20 years now he gets a pulsing swelling and pain on his lower left side.. He is having problems with constant constipation, hes mentioned he gets mucus and sometimes blood..He was recently on a laxative drink he eventually goes to the bathroom and said he passed dark stools..He hasn't had much medical help they aren't listening to him.. He needs advice, he's prudish about talking about this problem to anyone hes lost confidence in doctors...

This really works thanks Michelle! You are the best! My lower stomach was hurting for days and wouldn’t let up! But once I started tapping on my stomach softly the gas let up 🙏🏾🙏🏾

This worked like magic when I did all of the exercises but before doing them I took ORS (orange flavour- Its a drink for preventing acidity and helps with dehydration). Soon after I drink about Two cups of water with mint leaves and Waited for about an hour or 1½ hour and it worked!!! Thank you so much!

I had surgery done yesterday. My pain killers really back me up… I’ve been keeping myself as hydrated as possible and I’ve been taking advantage of the treadmill since yesterday-going on little strolls and such as my mom suggests. Hopefully these will help me out as well! ☺️
Your abdominal massage is life changing! It helped me a great deal when I was constipated. I do it every day now after I wake up and I am very happy about my current bowel movements. Thanks so much!

Brother I am having Constipation along with the feeling like my stool passes but not completely and it feels Urgely to Go to washroom to poop but not whole stool is passing amd there is Pain in lower abdomen...and Indigestion, bloating and Disturbed sleep are All happening..

Thank you for sharing this video. I did the exercise and massaged my colon and had 3 BM’s today which for me is unheard of without using laxatives and prune juice.

My G.I. doctor doesn’t tell me to do any type of stretching exercises to help relieve constipation they always just say go eat better and exercise and it’s like OK my diet is OK and I exercise a lot but watching this video help me to understand what I need to do so that I am not constipated thank you so much for making this channel and for helping so many people and you were so soothing and make me relax thank you . Simple. Easy. And very relieving. Thank you very much for your video. After going through this stupid Pandemic Coronavirus and plenty of lockdowns. For the first time in my life I ended up getting constipation. ( Didn't know what it was after 8 long months ). But this video helped me in relieving a lot. And now I feel a lot better. I can only pray for your successful future in this life and the next life.
It would be wonderful to meet with her and discuss ALL of one's ailments and then, let her create at-home program to feel better. She is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you.

Thank you so much! I am overseas and I have seen your helpful videos prior. However this is my first time to need more than myself for this health concern. I intend to use your technique every day for awhile for tempary relief... and hopefully to speed up this impact. My doctors office said it could take as long as two weeks, the student intern mentioned yoga. But I think this is going to be most useful of all when I turn my lights off to help me relax and start moving it along .

@kitty yes I think the combination of relaxation and movement is a good approach. It would be good if you can also include some walking throughout the day (doesn't need to be extended) to assist too, all the best🙏
