Christo, I love the clear and concise instructions contained in your excellent Miracle OTT download! I’m probably just like everyone else,in that I have spent years guarding AGAINST swinging “over the top “. Now, having observed the swings of the past golfing greats, I SEE that they pretty much all had swing elements of being “over the top “. Guys, do yourselves a favor and get Christo’s fantastic instruction download. It’s early in the golfing year and learning from Christo is better than trying to figure it out on the range by yourself ( like I started doing!). Thank you,Christo, may the “evolution “ continue!👍🏽

I remember going to the range one day and started messing around as well. I started swinging what felt like OTT and I began hitting compressed 7 iron shots like I never have before. It felt like I was really coming OTT and thought there was no way this is supposed to work. I was hitting ball first, taking a divot, and my ball flight started out low and pierced up through the air while making a whooshing sound. I knew that this was something I had never felt before and this was the way I was actually supposed to be hitting the ball. I didn't have access to a range for the next month because of a work trip and when I finally did, I could never find that swing again. It's been a year and I'm still searching for that swing. Your video is the closest thing I've found that replicates the feeling of OTT and the result. Hopefully I can figure it out again.

Christo this is awesome! Been doing this for about a year now because Mike Malaska and Dan Alton also teach this. It has changed my game and brought me back to my swing I had as a kid. Scores are back to low 70s. So cool to see more people discovering this move and how simple and natural it is. Hit them long and straight and enjoy the journey.

Looks like you are on plane to me. That probably “feels” like OTT to you after some many years of trying to swing under your natural plane. Your rehearsals are OTT, but your good shots just look on plane. Feel vs real. I applaud you for seeking a natural unforced swing that results in solid contact. That’s what it’s all about.

I've been trying it... it used to scare me to let the club come in on my backswing, because of so many pushes and shanks it used to cause for me... once I figured out what was actually causing those bad results, it was real easy to hit quality shots, especially because I wasnt focused so much on preventing the club from coming inside on my backswing!! I swear, forever, it seemed I was really "backswing focused". I found it real easy and natural to bring it back like you do it and dont think about that at all. And I hit a lot of nice powerful effortless straight to slight fades with all my clubs instead of only getting it dialed for one club and then hitting a lot of bad shots with the next club. Totally feels like I found something that had been lost for a long time.

Kudos to you, Christo! I played my best golf swinging like this (OTT) then, in an effort to improve, a few pros over the years told me [essentially] that I would never get better swinging this way (OTT) and I was setting myself up for faults to creep into my swing “without notice” at the worst possible time(s). Enter golfer’s elbow, fat shots, failing to get off my back foot on the downswing, timing issues, etc., etc. Finally, I said, “the heck with the ‘modern swing’,” and went back to swinging OTT, because I found I could ALWAYS feel my weight shift to my lead side on the downswing and it was also much easier for me to deloft the club face and compress my shots when the ball was on the ground. Thanks for bringing me back to reality. If OTT was good enough for Bobby Jones, it must not be a bad way to swing. Correct?

Christo I watch your videos religiously ever since I picked up golf last year. I found one of your videos when I was trying to copy Sam Sneads swing, it was a video called best swing ever? were you said Sam took it inside Up and over the top. I took it to the range and it felt like my swing was flat and tight, but every time I hit a ball it was solid and just made a long shallow divot. Ever since then my swing feels like a dance, pressure in the left foot swap pressure into the right heel ,turn, then on the downswing put pressure in the left foot, pull the left hip back in level with the right hip and fire hard as I can and it comes out almost the way I want it every time. Thank you Christo! For giving me the key to my swing.

When asked why he lines up with his club behind the ball so far he said "for one I'm already in my turn, and 2 I can't, CANT, take the club outside if I try and take it outside I'll fall over". Hey Christo - hope you've been doing well. This is intersting. Gonna try it. Maybe explains why I hit a wall a long time ago. My swing thought is the up and in backswing followed by the down and under downswing. I'm now thinking those two are not compatable! Also, this swing puts my weight shift in a funky place, since the down and under makes you want to hang back. Also, side note, when I do come OTT [by mistake] and pull one, it's always the longest most solid shot ever. So yeah, this is making sense. Will give this a whirl. Call it swing thought #1 million. :)

I've never really intentionally tried to swing over the top but I did notice when I started doing some of the speed training protocol with super speed golf my natural motion to produce the most speed was just a slight over the top motion. Again I didn't try and force it that was just the motion that happened when I swung fast. My only issue was I'm typically a bit from the inside and hold off the face, if I swung over the top slightly and also tried holding off the face like normal my strike would get erratic. Edit - I guess I commented too soon because after I posted this you say the exact same thing 🤣

  • @MiracleSwingExperience

What if you came over the top a bit and didn't hold off the face? It might be square. The reason I say this is the face wants to rotate and "holding off" is resisting what the club wants to do. I know you're a great golfer and you don't need to change anything, but who knows?

@@MiracleSwingExperience yeah I tried it the other day at the range (range just opened this week up here in Utah so haven't swung the club in a while) my fear with releasing fully was obviously a pull or hook, shockingly I hit a nice high shot with a slight fade that went about as far as my little hold off push draw. Mind blowing. Can't wait to get out there again and try it. Would be a game changer for me to be able to hit a soft cut like that against a draw wind.

@@MiracleSwingExperience yeah it definitely felt easier to swing that way. I'm not much of a technical player, always just went off feel but I think I've mostly gotten around the course purely off of hand eye coordination. But adding the little over the top fade shot into the bag could definitely be a great addition to the game. Maybe won't have to fear those tucked right pins as much anymore 🤣

I concur with this. Clearly the "feel" is OTT, but appears to be more about "exiting left" through/after impact, while still having a very neutral impact position. Seems quite similar to some of the more "current" exit left swings, but a bit flatter. In the end, whatever works to get the best results.

I note the more curved spine with some “Nicklaus hunch” at the upper back. That will bring your right elbow up and away from your body more - but with longer clubs one tends to set up and swing more upright with less upper back “Nicklaus hunch.” But I would tell someone that maybe they should try to hunch at the upper back even with a long club like a driver... the upper back doesn’t get “pinched” and painful like the lower back.

I think that is an accurate way to swing - good solid mechanics I’d say BUT maybe Nicklaus had figured something out too, a shortcut, a little tweak and enhancement to the Hogan swing. Exactly! It is KJ Choi's swing. Allows his upper body to rotate hard and make no effort stay on or under the backswing plane. His swing always looked over the top to me, but it was due him being less lower body focused than the typical PGA television star swing. The commentators used to always explain his swing as 'self taught' and started golf later in life, etc... All implying... don't swing like this... see your PGA instructor and pay alot of money to try and swing like the television stars, and we know you won't be able to and you will seek salvation with new modern equipment and keep that business going too. You may have uncovered the biggest racket going (and not a tennis reference). Christo you better sleep with one eye open!

Homer Kelly described the transition for those who swing the club as top arc and straight line. Swingers accellerate the handle longitudinally. Hitters accelerate it radially. Pull vs push. Most golfers do both, switters,if you follow V.J.Trolio. Swittering

  • @josephquaranto2432

    @josephquaranto2432

    Жыл бұрын

Swittering is bad for good contact. You do not come over the top. Over the top means your shoulder moves out toward the target line. Very bad mave. Your shoulder moves down after the weight shifts left. Your hands move back and then down in an arc. This gives you time to regain hip flexion so you can pull the club in a straight line until your elbow clears your right hip which is sliding forward before rotating which slings your hands, shaft and club out toward the ball via centrifugal force. Top arc and straight line makes the latest the greatest. Straight line stores the power. Rotation generates it just like Mchatton told you. It also promotes rhythm. Over the top has meant shoulder out toward the target line which is always bad news. Top arc and straight line means stored power until release. It will take the rush look out of your release, impact, follow through, and finish. You will finally look like Hogan.
