I played with Bruce Leitzke in 1968. I thought you could only loop to inside. On first tee he hit a fade and I said "good miss", but I was a believer after the round. He didn't like to practice but made a good living on tour.

What you’re preaching is definitely an over the top swing & I’m just starting to get & understand the motion after purchasing your video, my old destructive over the top swing was when I started my downswing with my right shoulder going forward & over which led to wild slices if not controlled, glad I stumbled across your platform Cristo as I feel it’s making the difference in my golf swing 🏌️‍♂️

Ok folks. I’ve been a hacker for 25 years. I’ve tried every golf swing out there. Stack and tilt, the figure 8. Strong grip, open stance loop , Jimmy Ballard , one plane and drop hands first and rotate like crazy. I be watched several of the oTT vids on this channel decided to go play for the first time in a year. I struck the ball with great consistency, with compression and length. It was awesome. The swing is easy to repeat. The one thing I learned is you must take the swing back very deep behind you then up then swing over your backswing plane. If you don’t go deep you will pull it left. It’s Inside Up then Ott !!!!! Like a Boss

Great stuff Christo. What I think this swing motion does is what most golf instructors call keeping the club in front of you but how you did that I didn't understand until I started focusing on the right wrist position throughout the swing. The best instruction I saw on this was Tom Bertrand where he advocated right palm up in the backswing and right palm down through the hitting area. I always had problems as Tom Watson said with an early release and hitting fat shots and shots that started to the right. I use to try to supinate the left wrist but the action is a right hand throwing motion and you supinate the left wrist by keeping the right wrist in flexion (right palm down) through the hitting area and releasing after impact. However, the release is the right wrist going from flexion to supination. By keeping the right wrist in flexion it also causes the right arm to stay under the left through strike zone which is a trapping or capturing the ball and slinging it down the target line. All this action begins by the hips sliding to left to start the swing and rotating them to target to trap and throw the ball down the target line. This pulls the hands over the top of the backswing plane. I don't feel the plane really changes its just the action of the hips turning toward the target causes the hand path to be over the path of the hands on the backswing. It's just physics. I used to have a very high ball flight because I came from the inside and behind and would roll the wrists closed to square the clubface. Now I feel like the club is closed throughout the downswing except in the strike zone where the release begins and this action keeps the clubface square to the target line a little longer. It's important to note that what we feel in the swing and what it looks like are two completely different things. The right wrist is the key for me now as this squares and delofts the clubface to create a penetrating ball flight. I find this action easiest with the sand and lob wedges where I can hit an 100 yard shot with little effort that is 15 or 20' off the ground, has a lot of backspin with a two hop stop. There are so many shot making possibilities from this discovery you have made. Another great OTT swing and one of the best ball strikers in the 80's and 90's is Nick Price. Take a look at his OTT swing You deserve much credit from my venture down this path of what feels like an OTT swing but is really the correct mechanics and swing plane through the strike zone. Well done!!!

Christo, firstly, I'm a big fan of yours from Drexel Hill, PA (near Philly) ... I recall a segment on Golf Channel (which I can't find) wherein Frank Nobilo described OTT as not a bad thing as long as you know what to do with it... i.e. - face angles at impact, etc... he had Moe Norman, Bobby Jones, and even Ben Hogan footage and showed that everyone who has ever been great comes OTT - even if just a little bit. Glad you are recirculating this idea and I think you are 100% correct. I've tried everything and KNOW it is way easier on the back and what 99% of golfers do naturally. I've been down to zero hcp and presently a 2 (costly rise !) , but I'm going back to this and know the +hcp numbers are possible once again. I hope to meet you someday and even better if we could play. I'll hit you up if I get out west sometime. Please look me up if you ever come east. I wish you a Happy Swing Evolution in the meantime.

I used to teach my students that, it was the severity of the outside to inside swing path through impact, and the holding of the hands combined that, was the issue. because, as I understand it, the brain is attempting to correct for the swing path, with the hands. the other thing I taught was slow or inactive hip rotation that allowed the torso to create an open position at impact. imho, the basis of being a good teacher of the golf swing, starts with the recognition and accounting for the simple fact we are all built differently. our bodies are stronger/weaker/flexible.... in different areas. we think differently, focus on different things. However,we are ALL governed by the same thing, the clubs position at impact. there is also one thing that every golfer wishes for, and it is probably the only thing we would all agree upon.....consistency. how we get to that goal, is inevitably going to be different. I have no doubt that, your method will help some golfers, revolutionize some, and be a borderline waste of time for others. this is simply the nature of the beast. my one advice would be...drop the sensationalism, and just sell the merit of your method. there is no "miracle" swing, and the use of that word is nothing more than a marketing ploy to associate what you are trying to sell, with something that has nothing to do with golf. golf has been overrun with snake oil pushing, and most of it is based on the false pretense that any one swing technique will work for every golfer. it won't.

We need more sensationalism and excitement in the game if the game is to survive. He's just doing his job here in making the game worth getting excited over again. Hope and new expectations springs eternal. Now go to your Bible and read John 3:16 for a cometely over the top offer that virtually assures you a guaranteed tee time in heaven played over the best courses in the universe. Thanks.

So here's a conceptual question. In order to do this over the top, it seems predicated on the idea you have to take the club way inside on the backswing. What if you didn't take it so far back inside and took the same downward path on the downswing that these over the top pros are using. Would it not get the same results? Without the "loop"???

  • @MiracleSwingExperience

It's easier to create the leverage by taking it inside. You have to try it, Steve. I'm making a video comparing my old swing and there it looks bad to me knowing what I know now. Now this was an informative video explaining what you mean by OTT. And clearly speaks to what you mean when you and the pro's in your video describe it. I don't know when you made this video but it should have lead off any prior videos related to the subject. I am surprised that you are surprised that the term would have a negative connotation to many golfers. Which was the source of my original note to you. I have been playing golf for 60 years and OTT always referred to moving the right shoulder out initiating the downswing and obliterating the plane at contact. In fact, when I was very young, I played OTT in the "negative" sense, aiming right and pulling the golf ball down the fairway. It worked ok unless I accidentally swung correctly and fired the ball into the trees or water as the case may be. With your explanation, I think I can now watch and understand the nuances of the swings you show.

  • @Greenballed
    @Greenballed2 жыл бұрын

With the OTT swing, the hands do come over the hand position from the start. What people don’t understand is what the club head does. It starts down just under the plane. This is why 99 percent of pro golfers at impact have the hands higher than the original start position, yet the trail forearm is on plane from underneath. Through impact the lead forearm follows the elbow plane from address and the trail forearm follows the shaft plane at address. This creates a very stable clubhead at impact. It’s physics. It’s the same as a street sign hung out from a pole. Your lead arm is the above diagonal chain and your trail arm is the bar coming straight out from the pole. Your club is the sign. Your body is the pole. As you rotate the force of gravity gets added to the rotation force outward. Angle the pole and rotate the sign. The sign will stabilize outward at an angle.

I am now playing good golf again. It was immediate. The inside up move allows me to get into perfect position with no tension or strain. The slight OTT move then puts me in a position now that I feel I can crush/compress the ball as much as I want. I have limited flexibility in my torso but my upper body is still powerfull at 66. I no longer extend or flip now trying to bring the club in to out on the downswing. This needs flexibility or your upper body follows your lower body with a lagging club. This is sin dipped in misery. The OTT puts the club straight down the line and I feel now like I"m covering the ball with my body mass. I am not even thinking about it now.

First, it is not a miracle swing. It is not over the top of the hips start the downswing. OTT is when the hands start the downswing and the player ends up chopping wood, slicing or ever hooking with fast hands. If you stay connected per Hogan… and start the swing with the lower body..the hips…exit the downswing low left, you will find vast improvement. Nice marketing…but not a miracle swing. Pick up the Hogan lesson book and save your money folks.

This guy does more videos with less actual instructional content than just about anything out there. A lot of talk about the OTT swing, and plugs for future training sessions, but little practical advice on how to execute the swing. Watching video clips of professional golfers is fine, but most golfer don't have the time or ability to copy Tiger Woods, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller, or Ben Hogan by watching video clips of their swings.

Hi Christo I finally get what you are saying and in fact am doing it quite well for myself now. Let me know if you wish me to delete this after reading; because I may have spilled the beans. However I was definitely confused with your figure eight drill that actually if applied to my golf swing would cause a bad slice. And let’s face it your practice figure 8 drill looked nothing like your real swing. Does it? Also using your hands as if you are doing an overhand throwing the head of the club to the ball; also threw me off what you were talking about. So when I told you I thought I might be doing something different with my OTT swing then what you teach; you replied to me: “everyone has to figure it out on their own.” And I replied well I was just comparing notes. So at any rate listening to various commentators on great golfers on this particular video doing an over the top golf swing; I personally notice that this move was definitely done exclusively through the action of the looping of their trail elbow and trail knee bending inward at the exact same time So now whether I swing deep inside as you do or a flying elbow swing like Freddie Couples does I discovered my own secret sauce was not thinking of my moving shoulders or even what my hand and wrists did; but simply looping my trail elbow inside and bending my trail knee towards my target at the exact same time to initiate and finish my downswing. It is really that easy. Actually i just watched your right elbow explanation on your premium station so I guess we are back on the same track after all. 😮Do you also think of your right knee bending moving towards your target as you execute your swing with your right elbow? You never mentioned this. Did you? I think I discovered this combination on my own. Cheers. ⛳️😃👍❤️🥂

I do the quarterback move with my elbow. I wasn't trying to be flippant about figuring it out for yourself. You just have to experiment on your own body to see how to leverage the club.

@@MiracleSwingExperience yes the quarterback throw works well also and the move originates from the trail elbow. I think we talked about that a few years back when both of us were trying to separate our trail elbow more from our side. Remember? You did not mention it as an OTT swing then. It is funny how old discussions are suddenly fresh again. Cheers 🥂

@@MiracleSwingExperience also the simultaneous move of the quarterback throws and trail knee moving inward towards the target automatically causes a natural dipping of the trail hip perfectly and prevents the lead hip from turning too quickly spinning out of control. Another words the two movements together are what creates the secondary tilt of a great golfers swing. You can actually feel it happening without trying to cause it on your own. Cheers

@@MiracleSwingExperience I reviewed your video for the forth time. Your shifting your weight on your lead side as you are swinging your club back I do not do this at all as I simply do my 1/2 step pivot and this balances my swing circle center perfectly. So I now don’t know if you could possibly start your backswing bending your trail knee forward towards your target in conjunction with your quarterback throw as I am doing. Can you? On second thought i think you can. Cheers

All guesswork and bullshit as usual. None of them tour pros or swing gurus understood or understands the golf swing, (some could be dead ). If they did none would use the OTT concept in the first place.
