55 years ago i was a 16 year old 2 handicap.Johnny Revolta taught me to swing left.He had a seating area for people to watch his lessons as he taught many top players. He watched me hit a couple of shots and said "very nice". He than said " see that cart against the fence way over to the left, hit some ground balls at that cart".People were watching,i hit two more normal shots. He grabbed my club and said "either do what i say or the lessons over."I listened and did what he said.I was 16 and didn't really get it. But I listened and improved over a period of time. He not only was way ahead of his time. He was very kind to me and gave me alot of confidence.

Going to give this a good look. I had a lesson more than a handful of years ago where the PGA Professional was not only selling me new clubs (my choice to buy) but also imparting how I needed to be less steep because somehow I was throwing away lag with an over the top swing. Scores only got worse as I've been shallowing the golf club. Time for a change...

Using his method, i shot a 72 which is my lowest round to date. I did have a great putting day but i was hitting fairways a greens all day! Love the OTT Swing!

I think what’s important to detail is, you can swing over the top hand path but still shallow the club and shaft to match the forearm easily

My golf teacher has me learning how to swing over the top. Been swinging excessively from the inside for years, hitting hooks. For the first time I can hit a fade, I'm a believer in your videos. Great stuff

I think the most accurate way to describe this move would be “OTT of the backswing plane.”As long as the club comes into the ball and into impact on a good plane, you’re fine. It really comes down to how your body prefers to move naturally. IMO, the less strength and flexibility a student has, the better the inside takeaway seems to work for them. Mainly, because the momentum of the club helps them get turned more behind the ball. In transition, the club would have to come OTT of the original club path on the backswing to get back on the proper delivery plane, not OTT of the proper delivery plane. As a salesman though, I understand, and can appreciate, why you market it this way 😉😎

Nice work, Christo! Disappointed to hear Miller dissing on my fellow Aussie Craig Parry. Craig was a top level tour pro and won all over the world, including in the USA. I've followed him in tournaments and he hit the ball as well as anyone - I've met Craig and he's a helluva nice guy, too.

Have to have your dominant hand on the bottom for this to work, granted that is most players but it will not work if your left hand dominant and play righthanded

Good point to bring up. I think the pattern still works even in that case because Bobby Jones said the left side dominated his swing, and he was Over the Top.

I find it more difficult to see the OTT move from the pros on the driver swing than an a short iron swing.

Watch Carl Petterson´s driver swing. In my opinion, in OTT swing the most important thing is to shallow the club.

When what is captured? Hand picked modern players that were taught a specific style of swing? As far as I’m aware, GEARS doesn’t have data on Hogan or any of the guys referenced in this video

…and the other 10% have stupidly ‘inside’ takeaways, a huge alteration in terms of the clubshaft/hands at transition and, unless they are very fortunate, an ‘out to in’ clubhead path through impact. Also, this approach DOES NOT WORK when shot shaping is required ie draws to fades etc,

  • @rene6876

It's funny when u put in inside takeaway on KZread u only see videos of all these amazing coaches fixing it! Don't watch these videos just take it in deep but make sure your left arm doesn't roll! Modern coaching is impossible to do for a weekly golfer way to hard takes your whole life to master it

Be careful with these guys. They recently charged my Visa for a subscription. This is almost two years after I cancelled the program. Over the last two years I have been lame, in and out of the hospital. I haven’t played a round of golf during this time so there is no way I would have subscribed to an online golf instruction. They refuse to refund my money. They are not to be trusted.
