Entombment of a Machine got me into the genre in middle school, holds a special place in my heart

Its insane how the origin formula of Deathcore kept the same over the years. The genre is now alive for about 20 years. Thats a lot of time

Your vocals on this is just insane!
The first deathcore song I remember hearing was BMTH's Pray for Plagues iwhich ithinkcame out in '05. The first 3 deathcore bands I listened to were early BMTH, Suicide Silence, and Whitechapel. I remember when they were just some band from across the state in Knoxville. Some friends and I drove to see them at their first Nashville show. It was one of the greatest pits I've ever been in.
That first All Shall Perish record is so underrated

It's so cool to see how older deathcore sounds with good mixing, the transitions were perfect too :)
I'm surprised The Heretic Prevails wasn't the 2017 spot. Great video tho! Johnny's vocals are absolutely insane

Pyrexia and Embodyment. You could even argue that cryptopsy laid the foundation on none so vile by having such chaotic song structure, which is really what distinguishes deathcore from death metal. The vast majority of death metal has a song structure with very clear organization and structure. Also lord worm’s vocals were the first time a vocalist used the techniques that became the staple of deathcore and slam.
watching that guy do vocals is the most entertaining thing i've seen in a long time i love how animated he is!
If you wanna go pre 2002 I gotta give it to Suffocation on Pierced from Within for really planting the seed for the Deathcore that was to come. Those riffs still hold up in the pit!
Starting off with Despised and All Shall Perish, followed by The Acacia Strain?! IT'S LIT!!! 🔥
Its really weird to me, that I was one of those deathcore myspace kids back in the day listening to this stuff. Ive seen every single band on there, except carcosa and angelmaker. I just saw SOTS for the first time the other week in Baltimore. I am 32, and i still get in the pit and go to shows and still love this music and it honestly is absolutely amazing to me to see deathcore having a revival of late with many of these bands carrying the torch. I grew up with these bands, and are still such a huge influence into the daily stuff i listen to. Some bands to include next time: Carnifex, Annotations of an Autopsy, Salt the Wound, the Red Chord.
All fucking SICK, I just wish i had full versions with his vocals instead of the originals. Fucking LOVE his voice

This video really just reminds me how much I love deathcore
You absolutely nailed it. Despised Icon was my first and hearing them kick off this vid was 👌
6:38 You know, I'm not sure we can forgive you for that.😂
very nice continuous edit to mesh them all one after the other, enjoyed this (and the older stuff still holds up)
That was awesome guys! I need full covers of those songs. 😄I'm not sure what the ultimate song of all time is, but Dissentient is what got me into Deathcore in the first place!
Carnifex - Lie To My Face Suicide Silence - Unanswered ABRB - In Dying Days
nailed it boys! also super excited to see you guys in van in september
Great video my man. Love your work

There is it. The recording streams were awesome!
Damm, yall got me movin this morning!!!
Love the transitions
played with signs of the swam at a festival late last year and dear god I'm glad they played after us. they killed it. fun to see you play my damnation again as it was the first video that made me find your channel. car bomb was the one on the list i remember hearing for the first time back in 04 and just being like whatever this is i wanted more of it.
YES I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS
this made me so happy
That was freaking awesome! 🤘🏼
I think one of the most influential songs in deathcore is Recreant by Chelsea Grin. Especially those sweeps at the end, to hear that at a younger age for the first time, super impactful.
The fact that masstaden from vildhjarta came out in 2011 still blows my mind
great video
Absolutely amazing
I guess Johnny's vocals are better than ever and Baena's mixing has also improved cause this is BEEF.
Thanks for bringing memories 😍
Everything from the early years up to 2013 is pure gold and the stuff that still sits in my play retinue-- I do like Carcosa, Angelmaker, and Distant too though 😁
Hell yeah. Sick video for me. ❤
You both killed it and I loved the fact that you covered Humanity's Last Breath, because that just looked super technical. Also where can I get that Carcosa clock at?
jesus, turns out since 2005 i've just been chasing the deathcore formula, 14 year old me was really onto something. only one you missed was drown in sulfur-- an epilogue to the arrogant
Homie's enunciation can't be overstated...I understood lyrics in this cover medley that I never understood before when listening to some of the originals. Good shit
Thanks for the walk down memory lane, fellas. Johnny is such an underrated vocalist. Killer content 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Beast vocals brooo! 🔥
Love the tone
Audio only be like: "Unanswered" hits. - Wait a second, I need new pants. The video ends. - Obviously, today is an unexpected laundry day. Thank you guys for this beautiful stankface retrospective!
what a trip down memory lane, high school music for me
Andrew......jonny is a fucking MONSTER them vox are crazy saucy lmao

Sick guitarist and Vocals🤘🤘🤘 video is freaking awesome
I never knew Vaush could scream like that haha. That neon green guitar is bad ass.
Yeay awesome Sir 🍻🍻🍻
I am a huge deathcore guy but imo almost all of these sounded exactly the same until we got to darko and carcosa. New age deathcore> old stuff
@bobgrant2600
Жыл бұрын
I like both but the old stuff has an energy the new stuff can’t compete with imo
I got into both Acacia Strain and Despised Icon around 2004 when I happened to see them play with other bands I liked at the time. Those were the best days, 2003-2007 metal and hardcore scene was so LIT. Now I prefer contemporary deathcore like Worm Shepherd, Lorna Shore, Disembodied Tyrant etc - but I'll never forget the roots!
all of my favourite songs
Unanswered is the National anthem of deathcore 🤟🤟
Despised Icon!!! YESSS! 🤘🏻 Montreal represent!! 🔥
trip down memory lane, i forgot about job for a cowboy, as blood runs black and acacia strain older stuff, phew this was great
Fuckin amazing video dudes. I would love to see Annotations of An Autopsy make the list, maybe next time!
Please, please come to.Oregon!! ❤❤❤
Angelmaker belongs here regardless of anyone's involvement in the band BTW.
Kinda sad you didn't keep Widower for the video, but still an insane one ! Johnny's vocals fucked my head up and I love it !

I thought my beloved deathcore was dying around 2014 I don’t know what happened but it made a strong comeback.
MAKE DEATHCORE OLD SCHOOL AGAIN!
johnny and andrew need to start a band together 🤭
Happy to see HLB made the list, but Job For A Cowboy will still remain my all-time fave from this genre... thanks!
I like the hand gestures he uses, it’s like he’s screaming with his hands, lmao
Man... what a time to be a metalhead... so many classics, so many legendary bands.. im so happy deathcore never died and just continues to evolve.
I Miss "I Declare War", "Vulvodynia" And "Defamed" 😢
Johnny can cover any deathcore band that's amazing
Johnny’s just a fucking beast.
Johnny slayed Entombment and In Dying Days. Love how y'all slowed down In Dying Days too.
