@@cambajax You are correct he does. As you just stated, and Mike has stated, there are many ways to do something and see results, and non of those ways have to be the optimum way. I can shoot a jump shoot like Ray Allen, and I can shoot like Curry. One is probably more optimum than the other, but they were in the NBA and three point leaders

I have following Mike only for about six weeks and have had more gains in that six weeks than in 5 years, and being an older lifter have drastically lowered the weights size. Amazing when you listen to a none ego experienced older lifter himself to a trainer who as done a six weeks course and is only after your money and just lets you continue lifting with bad form. Mike stop apologising for the swearing, being and Australian it’s part and parcel of our culture, we even call our mates f**kwit or dickhead it’s what mates do. What I also like about Mike’s videos is he talks about injuries that can occur because like Mike, I have a mountain of them. I am 65 years of age, Veteran of the Australian Army of 35 years, have a replacement ankle, two replacement, knees, right shoulder replaced, and as I said watching Mike showing you can drop the weights, slow down, and most importantly get the angles right. I thank you Mike for taking the time to make these videos and sharing them, I must admit when I first started and dropped the weight the first 3-4 reps I thought ohhh this is F**King easy but getting to 6-7 my mind was saying my BICEPS, or whatever I was training were on fire, and being the weirdo I am I was laughing because I knew I connected to those muscles. Now I am getting people watching me and it’s like you know what their thinking, he’s lifting light but he is twice the size of us and that includes bloke who are in their 30s. So again Mike, I watch yourself and Mountain dog who to me is still lives through he’s videos and was a gentleman trying to do he’s supersets is always a challenge and to sneak a few seconds more break between the next activity because I was absolutely shagged. But thankfully when I do supersets now boy do i drop the weights, I was watching one of Mountain Dog’s videos on front Delts he said you need to lift light and he picked up what looked like 10 kg, well I soon learnt Mountain Dogs light is my 3 kg lol😂and I was struggling with that weight lol😂. Huge respect to you both, hopefully Mountain Dog lets me join he’s gym when its my turn to depart.

Mike (and Bruce Lee): "Be water my friend!" Rest of the industry: "Be concrete, costumer!" Your advice is pure gold good sir. The explanation of movement, "rocking" and "moving on muscle" should be taught in every Gym I have ever been to. I have been taught to be as stiff as possible to achieve optimal results and "perfect" form. Thank you for waking me up and showing me a better way.

I came by your channel last week. This week I incorporated the techniques you employ for back, shoulders, and arms. I must say, I've been lifting for over 15 years and your advice has been some of the best I've come across pertaining to mind/muscle connection and mechanics. I knew I wasn't getting the activation I was looking for, but following your advice on set up, form, posture, range of motion, and execution, I had one of best weeks in the gym in years. I practiced the set up and movement of each exercise at the start of, and in between each set. It made a huge difference and took a huge load off my shoulders. My triceps were burning after the first set! I'm looking forward to what my physique will look like come May/June. Great stuff Mike.

Great video! Using the lower angle (not straight up and down) on the preacher curl is how I really hurt my forearms on both arms, literally couldn’t do anything (pull ups, curls etc) for over a year and when I did it hurt so much, that angle with too heavy weight just fucked them up... switched to the other side like you’re showing probably 2 years ago and will probably never go back.

I may be wrong but I think a lot of people who get into weight training mimic what they've seen big guys do in the gym. Whether it be right or wrong execution. I say this because I was guilty of the it back when I started in my teens and it carried over into my early adult years. And then I got in tune with mind muscle, which helped me to start using the right form. I started to feel the muscles working by learning proper execution,hand/body position and utilizing that to get better. And at 51 years old I luv weight training more than I did in my 20s.

About the straight bar curls, I remember when I was 14 and I was doing straight bar curls, and I thought that feeling in my forearm was the bone carrying the weight, but it was the supinator going crazy trying to fully supinate the forearm. Some adults even think it's the bone. LOL then why don't you feel it when you do hammer curls. Well I totally agree, straight bar curls are horrible, and are not a basic exercise. Dumbbell curls or ez-bar curls are basics.

Thank you Mike for the long awaited biceps video. Could you please shortly explain the need for the body rocking during standing barbell biceps curls (how is it different from "cheating"?) and whether one should fully extend the elbows during curls or keep a slight bend in the bottom position (particularly during preacher curls, but really during all version of curls) having in mind on the one hand the need to develop full biceps incl. the botom part and on the other hand trying to avoid muscle tear and keep constant tension on the muscle (is the constant tension needed, or is it OK to let the muscle relax for a split second in the stretched position?)

I switched to the easy bar curl technique and it was a game changer. I had to drop weight by ~40% from my straight bar technique. Well worth it! I get way better stimulus on my bicep, and I don't have to lug around a bunch of weight and fatigue myself. Same respective story for me on the DB technique too.

Started seeing your videos recently and implementing a lot of your tips which has helped a lot with most parts and I know you're a proponent of "making do with what you have." But the best thing I have near me without having to drive 30+ minutes is Anytime Fitness and all they have are Precor machines and I am starting to hate them with an absolute passion. I can get most things to work, but every machine has some part of it that is off center or angled to a point where you can't line up evenly on the pad or even to a point where it remotely feels good...especially the laying leg curl plus the gap between the thigh and chest pads is so big it digs into my pelvis.
